Chapter 0: Until Death Do Us Part
Yi Chengying embraced Qin Gou, flying through the air. The Natal Spirit Tool, Shadow Cat, pushed to its limits, dashed out of the Abyss Palace, leaving Demon Emperor City far behind.
Frosty, dark blue claws sliced through the sky, relentlessly pursuing Qin Gou, drawing the gaze of countless astonished onlookers.
Yi Chengying hadn’t lied; with her full power, her speed could indeed create a slight distance from the dark blue claws. However, her own spiritual power was being rapidly depleted. If she didn’t abandon Qin Gou and flee alone, she herself would soon be severely injured by the dark blue claws.
Before long, Yi Chengying’s small face had turned pale, cold sweat beading on her forehead uncontrollably.
Qin Gou wanted to distance himself from her, but with every slight struggle, Yi Chengying would hold him tighter, her eyes pleading as she shook her head with force.
“This stubborn little chair,” Qin Gou’s deep gaze fixed on the relentless, soul-snatching dark blue claws. He quickly consumed an Earth-grade Longevity Fruit, gritted his teeth, and made a throwing gesture with one hand.
“Demon Star!”
A dazzling, unparalleled meteor materialized out of thin air, streaking across to block the dark blue claws head-on. A deafening roar and a powerful shockwave sent Yi Chengying and Qin Gou flying far away.
Yi Chengying looked back. The colossal meteor suddenly cracked open, and the dark blue claws tore through the ethereal azure flame, emerging from within. However, its once sharp and chilling five fingers were now reduced to only three.
“Lord Qin is so strong,” a hint of surprise flashed in Yi Chengying’s clear eyes.
No sooner had she spoken.
With a “pfft,” Qin Gou spat out a mouthful of fresh blood, his face pale as golden paper, utterly weak.
“As a foundational Dharma Image, Demon Star has already exceeded expectations… Since one attempt wasn’t enough, let’s try a few more,” Qin Gou said resolutely, blood seeping from his lips.
“No, don’t, Lord Qin, please don’t forcefully cast your Dharma Image again!” Yi Chengying screamed in anguish.
Qin Gou, unfazed by his injuries, smiled slightly, feigning lightness. “If even a mere little chair is fighting so hard, what is a small injury to me?”
As he spoke, Qin Gou strove to communicate with the Demon Star Dharma Image, intending to condense it once more.
“Ding. Congratulations to the Host for successfully piercing the shell of the Demon Star Dharma Image, activating its growth power. The Demon Star Dharma Image has entered a silent advancement state and cannot be used temporarily, with a high probability of evolving into the… ‘Xie Yu’ Dharma Image.”
“Your mother!”
“My mother?” Yi Chengying, who was carrying Qin Gou as they fled, looked bewildered.
“Of course, I’m not talking about you.”
Qin Gou couldn’t help but curse. This Demon Star Dharma Image was truly a fertile egg. Like Zhao Xinting’s ‘Wutian’ Dharma Image, it was an extremely rare growth-type Dharma Image. Evolving and advancing was a great thing, but why at this life-or-death moment?
“Little chair, my Dharma Image has encountered some trouble. Hurry and leave, or it will be too late,” Qin Gou said, his gaze serious as he looked at Yi Chengying. “Yi Chengying, I command you to disappear from my sight immediately. Little chair, be obedient!”
Upon hearing this, Yi Chengying loosened her right hand.
Qin Gou showed a relieved smile, nodding affirmatively at Yi Chengying.
Then, Yi Chengying smiled enchantingly, more beautiful than ever. Her fair small hand, which had once knocked out the “sissy” Zhao Xinting with a single slap, finally made her “great liar” master taste a similar fate. She suddenly struck the back of Qin Gou’s head, causing him to fall unconscious.
…
The sun set in the west.
When Qin Gou finally regained consciousness and opened his eyes, he saw a bloodied person.
Blood flowed from all seven orifices, her face was pale, and her once spotless pleated flower skirt was stained with large patches of crimson.
Her once lively eyes were now dull and vacant, yet she still held Qin Gou in her embrace, fleeing endlessly without any destination, like a dilapidated machine running on its last string, until death.
“Little chair…” Qin Gou wailed, his eyes filled with visible bloodshot streaks.
He keenly sensed that Yi Chengying’s spiritual power had long been depleted. The reason they were still able to fly through the sky was not at the expense of Yi Chengying’s spiritual power, but her life.
Hearing the familiar call, Yi Chengying’s now-numb eyes finally regained a flicker of spirit. She forced a smile that she thought was pretty and said with difficulty, “Good morning, Lord Qin.”
“Be good, little chair, let me face the backlash of the Demon Emperor alone, alright? You’ve already done enough, its power is almost exhausted,” Qin Gou’s voice trembled, his eyes stinging, finding it hard to open.
Behind Yi Chengying, indeed, only a single slender finger remained.
“Okay, little chair can let go of Lord Qin, but… I want Lord Qin… to kiss me. Kiss it on little chair’s… lips,” a touch of tenderness appeared in Yi Chengying’s eyes as she said intermittently, biting her soft red lips. “Wait… little chair’s mouth has blood, it’s dirty, I’ll wipe it first…”
But before she could finish speaking, Qin Gou gently kissed her. The Master of Arc-Moon Mountain had no conscience, no tears. So the scalding things Yi Chengying felt on her cheeks were likely just sweat.
The kiss was very brief.
Because Yi Chengying was still flying, it was she who turned her face, her eyes carrying a hint of sweetness and reluctance.
“Little chair, you…”
“I want to confess to Lord Qin, this is not little chair’s first kiss… Before, after you and the Palace Lord went through the Blood Oath Great Array, the Palace Lord’s physical condition was too poor, so little chair took the initiative to kiss her to help her recover quickly…”
“Stop talking, hurry up and take this pill,” Qin Gou immediately took out an extremely precious Grand Unity Tribulation Crossing Pill from his Nas, melted it with spiritual power, and carefully fed it into Yi Chengying’s mouth. “With this pill, you will be fine. Now hurry and put me down.”
“But, little chair still has one last thing to confess… little chair caused trouble again… I can indeed let go of Lord Qin, but little chair herself is… unable to leave anymore.”
As soon as she finished speaking.
She deeply imprinted Qin Gou’s figure in her eyes and then enveloped Qin Gou alone with a gentle spiritual light. Yi Chengying could no longer hold on for half a second. Her hands drooped heavily, and she fell unconscious.
Only the Grand Unity Tribulation Crossing Pill could sustain the last thread of her existence, like a candle flickering in the wind.
A promise is worth a thousand gold; until death do us part.
Yi Chengying endured the intense pain of spiritual energy depletion and burning essence blood, holding on until her lamp ran dry and she had no strength left before finally letting go… If not for Qin Gou’s top-grade spirit pill, she would have surely perished soon after.
Qin Gou’s roar was like that of a wounded wild beast, heart-wrenching. He tightly embraced Yi Chengying’s delicate and slender body. As they plunged down, he quickly shifted his position, shielding Yi Chengying with his back against the incoming backlash.
“Pfft.”
Fresh blood splattered, flesh was torn, but there was no scream.
A square block of Eternal Seal Ice fell heavily from the sky, creating a massive pit.
Within the ice, a man and a woman, two bloodied figures, were tightly nestled, never to be separated.
The congealed blood colored their bodies, also enlivening their love that would last until death.
