Chapter 0: 66. Faceless Hermit
Outside, the night rain drizzled, carrying a chilling cold that seeped into one’s clothes. The cave dwelling’s door suddenly opened, and a figure cloaked in black burst in.
He saw the red candles flickering indoors, dancers gracefully performing, Gu Xunhe and Chen Dayi locked in a struggle, a scene of utter chaos.
The aged figure couldn’t help but frown, his voice grim: “Eldest Young Master, come with this old man quickly.”
Gu Xunhe turned around, recognized the uninvited guest, and asked suspiciously, “Elder Yuan Zhen, what business do you have this late?” He then raised an eyebrow and grinned sinisterly, “This young master has fine wine, exquisite food, and beautiful companions. I have no desire to go out in the rain and wind. If there’s anything, Elder Yuan Zhen can state it here.”
“Eldest Young Master has been punished and ordered to reflect in Scarred Wind Valley pending further judgment. Do not waste any more time. This old man truly does not wish for things to become too unpleasant between us.” Elder Yuan Zhen’s eyes revealed deep disappointment.
Gu Xunhe was astonished, “Punished? On what grounds? This young master will soon ascend to the position of Young Sect Master! Besides my father, who else has the right to punis…”
“It is the Cult Master’s will. As for the Young Sect Master position, I advise Eldest Young Master to abandon that thought!” As he spoke, Elder Yuan Zhen thrust out a palm, instantly pulling Gu Xunhe into the air. He held him like a chick and strode away.
“What? What offense have I committed? I want to see my father!” Gu Xunhe’s face turned deathly pale, and he cried out in alarm. He tried to struggle but couldn’t move at all.
“The Cult Master does not wish to see you,” Elder Yuan Zhen’s tone was ice-cold.
“No! How can this be?” Gu Xunhe’s face was as desolate as if he had fallen into an ice cave. He roared desperately, “I know! Someone must have slandered me behind my back! Chen Dayi, gather your men immediately and find a way to prove my innocence! You must help this young master avenge this bloody grievance!”
Gu Xunhe’s words lingered in the wind. The beautiful dancers had already fled in panic, leaving Chen Dayi alone in the cave dwelling.
At this moment, Chen Dayi’s eyes were bloodshot, filled with overwhelming malevolence, like a lone wolf plunged into madness.
…
A spirit boat, bathed in ethereal blue light, soared through the sky. Inside, Gu Feiyan was setting terms with Qin Gou.
“First, don’t ask why I kissed you. Second, no sudden hugs and kisses. Third, don’t think I don’t know about you secretly spanking me!”
“Why did you suddenly kiss me?” Qin Gou asked with an innocent expression.
“Scoundrel!”
Gu Feiyan was so angry she gritted her teeth, wanting to bite the man in front of her. Then, her tone suddenly shifted. With piercingly clear eyes and a frosty face, she said, “You are my subordinate. That kiss was a favor from this young lady. I’ll kiss you if I want, and play with you however I please. As long as I’m happy, don’t expect me to take responsibility. Are you, this little dog, going to resist?”
Gu Feiyan displayed her usual willfulness and petulance, but for some reason, her heart beat faster and her body temperature rose unusually. She felt incredibly embarrassed.
Qin Gou rubbed his nose and said, “Then, I wonder if the renowned Third Young Lady of the Seed Demon Sacred Cult, the heroine known as ‘Beauty of Calamity,’ Gu Feiyan, has also favored other subordinates in this way?”
A flush of heat rose to her pretty face, her cheeks glowing red. Gu Feiyan gritted her teeth, “That’s none of your business!”
“I just wanted to say, if that were the case, I would be jealous.” Qin Gou said with sincere eyes.
He did not receive a reply.
“Hmph,” leaving a soft hum, Gu Feiyan placed her hands on her slender waist and gracefully walked away, entering the interior of the spirit boat.
This left Qin Gou greatly confused and at a loss.
But after a while, Gu Feiyan reappeared from somewhere, her eyes moist and gentle as if they could drip water. Her voice carried urgency and a hint of sweet shyness, “No, I haven’t kissed anyone else. Don’t misunderstand my meaning and feel sorry for yourself, getting hurt for no reason. If that happens, no one but your mother will care about you!”
After saying that, she stomped her foot again and, with a soft hum, quickly ran back into the spirit boat.
Qin Gou was left outside, mouth agape, speechless for a long time.
It’s over, Xiao Yan has gone mad!
But she is devilishly sweet like this…
I’ve gone mad too.
“I need to do a lottery draw to calm my nerves,” Qin Gou thought to himself.
The system immediately conjured the tempting, giant spinning wheel before his eyes. Qin Gou stared intently at the bold character ‘法相’ (Dharma Aspect) within the wheel. He wondered what it would be like if he, while still in the Hidden Weapon Realm, were to draw a Dharma Aspect, even a rather ordinary or weak one.
Would he be truly invincible among his peers?
Or perhaps, even if he exhausted all his spiritual power, he wouldn’t be able to summon that Dharma Aspect into the human world.
He gently nudged the pointer, and the wheel began to spin at high speed. Qin Gou couldn’t help but close his eyes.
The lottery wheel was divided into categories such as Pills, Strange Items, Weapons, Cultivation Techniques, Guardian Spirits, Natal Spirit Tools, Natal Dharma Aspects, Special Constitutions, and Bloodline Inheritances. However, Pills, Weapons, and Strange Items were of little use to Qin Gou at the moment. After all, the foundation of A Generation’s Celestial Master was terrifying. The mystical items he carried in his Nas wouldn’t even amount to one-fifth of what he had left behind at Arc-Moon Mountain.
“Ding!”
The system prompt sounded, and Qin Gou’s eyes snapped open.
“Congratulations, Host, for obtaining the nascent bloodline inheritance ‘Faceless Hermit’ through the lottery wheel.”
Qin Gou’s heart pounded. He never expected to draw a bloodline inheritance, nor had he ever anticipated it because… being human was quite good.
The system quickly provided information about the Faceless Hermit bloodline.
Faceless Hermit (Demon Race, growing in nascent stage)
Bloodline Talent 1: ‘Rapid Healing’. The cunning Faceless Hermit does not possess the powerful physique comparable to other demons, but it has an astonishing self-healing ability, efficiently recovering from moderate sword wounds, burns, frostbite, and physiological weakness.
Bloodline Talent 2: ‘Imitation Game’. Stare at a humanoid creature for ten seconds to perfectly replicate its appearance and physique, allowing for complete simulation. This transformation occurs at the fundamental level of flesh and bone, not mere disguise. (Nascent stage can store up to two other faces).
Qin Gou quickly brought up his own status. Under the ‘Bloodline’ section, in addition to the original ‘Human Race,’ a branch of ‘Faceless Hermit (Demon Race)’ had appeared.
For a moment, Qin Gou didn’t feel panicked, only murmuring thoughtfully, “I now possess a part of the demon bloodline, which is hunted by everyone in the Cultivation World… but this also means I can easily infiltrate the Demon Race Abyss, where Kong Ling resides, a place even cultivators in the Dharma Aspect Realm dare not easily tread.”
