Chapter 126: Clothing
In the dense jungle of the Southern Continent, many members of the Dragon Race set up small tents and lit small lanterns beside them. In summer, there are many mosquitoes near water sources, and the blood of adult dragons is very hot, so mosquitoes do not bite their skin. However, it is different for newborn little dragons.
To avoid the little dragons getting covered in bites, the dragons light a special type of lantern to drive the mosquitoes away.
Raphael walked through the gathering place in the jungle. Many dragons saluted her, while some looked at her with cold eyes; they were followers of her brothers. However, Raphael didn’t care about their gazes because a few of her brothers were lying on the ground, unable to move.
Many members of the Dragon Race slept in the trees, and several guards were on night watch. Further inside, a carriage was parked at the edge of the jungle, which was clearly not crafted by the Dragon Race but was a human item.
Over these past few months, the dragons had become accustomed to Raphael’s vehicle. During the day, Raphael could carry injured dragons in the carriage while traveling, but at night, she would kick them out.
Sometimes she would rest inside for a short while at night, but not for long. This time was no different; she was indeed a bit tired and wanted to return to rest. However, she saw a familiar blue dragon, Ral, beside the carriage.
She silently looked at the carriage until Raphael approached, and then she hurriedly turned her head, appearing embarrassed.
“Lord Raphael.”
“Ral.” Raphael glanced at Ral and asked, “Are you thinking about Fisher again?”
Ral pouted and nodded, then shook her head.
“Hmm, I often dream about when we used to travel together in the carriage, going to human cities.”
Raphael smiled helplessly, ruffled Ral’s hair, and asked,
“Do you regret coming back with me?”
Had they not returned, they wouldn’t have had to roam around with the entire Dragon Tribe or watch their brother bleed to death. They could have continued their pleasant travels, living carefree days without worry.
But Ral thought for a moment and decisively shook her head.
“I don’t regret it. If we hadn’t come back, my brother wouldn’t have seen me for the last time, and Mother would worry about me. Lord Raphael, we will see Fisher again, right?”
“Yes, I promise.”
Raphael looked at the starry sky and replied, but because she hadn’t rested for a long time, she felt quite drowsy; even the scenery in front of her began to blur. She took a breath and said,
“Ral, please keep watch tonight; I need to rest.”
Ironically, in her own tribe, she needed someone to keep watch while she rested, or Raphael feared that her brothers would gather a bunch of people to kill her at any moment.
“Okay~”
Raphael took Ral into Fisher’s carriage. The furnishings here were just as they were when Fisher left. Raphael entered Fisher’s room and gently leaned against Fisher’s previously used bed.
Ral obediently picked up the book Fisher had given to Raphael about learning the Nali Language and began to read. Recently, she was also learning the human Nali Language. She was still too young; although she wanted to help, she didn’t know what to do.
Fashir and Keshil had to guard Raphael, help her monitor the tribe’s activities, and tend to the injured; Mill was in charge of storing food and preparing meals. As for herself, it seemed that as long as she didn’t cause trouble, she was helping.
But Ral didn’t want to be like that; she wanted to prove that she could also be of help.
Raphael had felt very sleepy before, but after getting on the bed and just dozing for a moment, she woke up again. However, she was temporarily unwilling to leave Fisher’s bed, seemingly attached to it, burying her head silently in the bedding.
After a while, she suddenly remembered that she had placed the map he gave her under the pillow and had not studied it properly during this time.
“Lord Raphael, are you unable to sleep?”
Ral saw that Raphael sat up again and asked.
“Ah, a little bit. By the way, Ral, your mother is from the East Branch Tribe, did you ask her if there are similar seals to ours in her tribe?”
Raphael got up and walked to the desk, opened the drawer, and revealed a piece of green seal resembling a dragon’s tooth inside. The dragon tooth was crooked and ancient, with an old dragon script engraved on it, meaning “Soul of the River,” a symbol of the Southern Branch Tribe’s leader.
Previously, the map stated that “only when all seals are gathered will the door open,” but Raphael had never known what seals were being referred to, the only thing she could associate it with was the leader’s seal that had always been passed down in her tribe.
Ral was slightly taken aback after hearing this, then furrowed her little brows and said,
“Um, my mother said she wasn’t sure if that’s what you were looking for. The leader of the East Branch Tribe does not have such a thing, but she said there used to be an old dragon in a previous tribe who had something similar.”
“Hmm, that’s alright; I will go verify it later.”
Raphael smiled helplessly and said to Ral, who also looked sleepy,
“Alright, I don’t need you to keep watch anymore. You should go back and rest with your mother. We need to keep traveling early tomorrow morning.”
“Okay, Lord Raphael, good night.”
Ral rubbed her eyes and ran towards the carriage exit with the Nali Language book in her arms. It seemed she ran into Keshil and Fashir at the door, where conversation could be heard. Then the carriage door was closed, making the inside quiet again.
Unable to fall asleep for the time being, Raphael walked around the carriage for a while. Strangely enough, although the space in the carriage was actually small, at that moment, it felt quite spacious, almost like the entire world.
She walked into the changing room, which was filled with clothes for human men. There were originally a few suits hanging in front of the clothing rack, but it seemed they had all been burned or soiled during the fighting.
Raphael smiled and organized the remaining clothes left by Fisher. She didn’t want the next time they met for that human to be without clothes.
As she sorted through, her gaze was drawn to a deep purple dress hung at the back. The moment she saw that clothing, Raphael’s expression grew slightly cold. As she got closer, that piece of clothing lit up with a warning message:
“Except for Fisher, any creature approaching this clothing is forbidden; otherwise, they will receive my curse. This is the only warning, and please inform Fisher that I am aware of this matter.”
Unsurprisingly, this should be something left by the woman named Renee.
“Ha!”
Raphael had heard Fisher say before that that lady was just a friend he was familiar with, not a close relationship. But at this moment, seeing this dress here, she found it extremely glaring.
She glanced around, as if not wanting Fisher to see, and gently stretched out her hand, conjuring a series of magic from the Dragon Race in her palm.
During this time, Raphael had learned many spells from the Dragon Race. From Fisher’s notes, she had not had the chance to use them until now.
The violent flames instantly engulfed the dress, along with the warning magic, consumed in the fire. Watching the dress slowly turn to ash in the flames, a smile also appeared on Raphael’s face, seemingly very satisfied.
In the end, the changing room was finally clean, leaving only Fisher’s and her own clothing.
Raphael looked contentedly at the changing room and then walked briskly out of this dressing room.
She needed to rest for a while longer; tomorrow they would officially begin their journey.
