Chapter 146: The Realm of Magic
After Fisher brought Jasmine to the first floor, he first looked for a restroom that could help her revert back to human form. He was unsure if the faucets here were operational since they were in a high-circle spatial magic environment, and if they completely ran out of water, it would be disastrous.
He didn’t know if other sources of water were usable either; it was just a precautionary thought.
“Here, hurry up.”
Fisher pulled Jasmine into the women’s restroom. Jasmine, with slightly flushed cheeks, made her way to the water pool. After turning on the faucet, a stream of cool water flowed into the pool. Jasmine quickly cupped some water in her hands.
“Great! There’s still water!”
She then gently lowered her head, murmuring in a peculiar language that Fisher couldn’t understand,
“Oh great Lord Ramastia, please use the bond between all living beings, water, to send your voice back to me.”
Strange things began to happen. In Jasmine’s hands, the formless puddle of water seemed to connect to a bottomless abyss somewhere. After one or two seconds, some kind of being seemed to have heard her voice. In response, a few bubbles slowly emerged in the water, appearing in a rhythmic manner as if having a conversation with some living creature.
Fisher observed the continuously bubbling water, wondering how the deity worshiped by the Ocean Subhuman managed to connect with Jasmine through this little water.
“Great Lord Ramastia, please disguise my original appearance again, I beg you.”
The water flow ceased to produce bubbles and instead slithered up her arm like a moving snake. As it flowed, various animal organs and forms seemed to appear in the water, as if a myriad of faces, a multitude of beings were simultaneously emerging.
This reminded Fisher of the deity’s title: “God of All Forms.”
Under the motion of the water, Jasmine’s body began to transform back into her original human shape, from her arms down to her limbs. Despite the water flowing over her, her palms didn’t feel particularly wet.
But was the pace of transformation a bit too slow?
Fisher noted that the water flow seemed to stutter after a while, feeling as if her connection with the deity was unstable, on the verge of disconnect.
Jasmine observed the sluggish water flow and, with a pitiful expression, turned to Fisher, saying,
“Teacher Fisher, we’re very far from the ocean. Lord Ramastia said His power has difficulty crossing the boundaries of the world, so the speed is slow.”
“…”
What Fisher didn’t realize was that Jasmine looked so pitiful because she was extremely hungry. The meeting had originally been scheduled for around ten in the morning, and they’d been inside for several hours, long past lunchtime.
In the trench, she usually didn’t eat much; a single meal could last her a long time. Now, following human routines, she wanted to eat many delicious things daily. But given the current connection strength to Lord Ramastia, she couldn’t even think about food; it was a blessing just to regain her human form.
She had no choice but to continue enduring hunger, although the black long ears on either side of her face flapped up and down, seemingly expressing her dissatisfaction.
Fisher looked at Jasmine, who was slowly transforming into a human. They weren’t far from the others, and he could vaguely hear sounds of struggle against monsters from over there. He was slightly worried for everyone’s safety. He didn’t know much about Prince Losang, and Roger’s combat ability was just mediocre; he guessed that there weren’t many others who could fight either.
The sounds of explosions and screams continued to echo from that side. Fisher guessed they had likely used the Silver Mirror to fend off the monsters. After a while, Fisher felt that the horde of monsters had noticed him and began redirecting their attack towards this area.
Countless twisted monsters swarmed toward him, and instead of feeling scared, Fisher suddenly thought that these creatures looked too similar. His earlier suspicion about the situation washed over him again.
He raised the Fluid Sword in one hand and the staff in the other. The staff in his left hand glowed with a six-ring white magic he had inscribed himself, named “Flowing Cloud.” Its effect was similar to an upgraded version of the Bee Dance, with much greater lethality, but the downside was that this magic was very difficult to control.
As the white emblem lit up, slicing winds, much like distorted whirlpools, cut through the restroom walls, swirling outward like a cyclone, blowing the foul monsters away like a meat grinder.
However, many more monsters continued to emerge from outside. The next moment, a series of deep lion roars could be heard coming from behind the monsters, as if a living lion was advancing toward them.
Someone must have come to rescue him and Jasmine.
Fisher turned to look back at Jasmine. She was already nearly transformed into a human, but the tail of a whale still hung behind her.
“Teacher Fisher, my tail…”
“Not to worry, you’re almost there… Wait, why hasn’t your ear transformed back?”
“Huh?”
Jasmine stared blankly at Fisher, then instinctively moved her ears, and the black long ears resembling whale fins flapped slightly, with noticeable white spots at the tips, resembling an orca.
She touched the ears on her head and looked down at the water snake, which had completely lost its tail. The water snake twisted its head, looking quite strained, and upon glancing up, saw that Jasmine’s ears had not transformed back.
“!”
The water flow looked surprised and slowly raised its head in astonishment. Afterward, it struggled and began to crawl toward Jasmine’s head.
“Can’t you just grab it and put it beside her head?”
“How could I catch Lord Ramastia? Hey hey hey?”
Fisher suddenly reached out and grabbed the water snake. The water snake squirmed angrily, and when Fisher set it beside Jasmine’s neck, it twisted its head back toward Fisher, clearly cursing him.
“Fisher! I’m here to save you!”
But behind them, Losang, wielding his lion fist, was almost there. It seemed Fisher had completely underestimated Losang’s combat abilities; this prince, raised under Queen Shval, appeared to be much stronger than his father, at least physically.
“Stay behind me.”
Fisher said softly. Jasmine panicked and shrank behind Fisher, gently gripping his clothing. Seemingly because she was holding too tightly, her hand touched Fisher’s back, and then she pulled back her palm in a fluster, unsure where to place her hand.
Why does Teacher Fisher feel so warm?
Jasmine stole a glance at Fisher’s back, not voicing her thoughts. Her bashful demeanor was noticed by Lord Ramastia, and after the water snake took away her ears, it splashed a splash of water on her face as if saying “Wake up.”
“Lord Ramastia…”
Jasmine wiped her face, only to find she could no longer connect with the deity.
“The monsters outside have been dealt with. Is your student alright?”
“Y-yes, I’m fine!”
Jasmine quickly ran out from behind Fisher. It seemed that Lord Ramastia wanted to remind her of something earlier, but given the urgent situation, she decided to ask about it later.
Losang was covered in sweat, his lion head slightly open as he seemed to be panting. Fisher put away the Fluid Sword and looked outside. At that moment, the corpses of the monsters began to turn into putrid sludge, quickly disappearing.
It soon felt as if all the monsters had been slain, and the whole building returned to silence, just like before.
As Fisher walked towards the others while speaking with Losang, he remarked,
“It looks like the monsters have been wiped out, but I think they will definitely appear again. They haven’t been completely killed; they must have re-gathered after being reborn somewhere.”
Losang nodded and smiled,
“That’s right, I thought the same thing. Moreover, I suspect the place where these monsters are reborn is very close to the magic circle that imprisoned us. The Nali surely went through strict venue checks; there can’t be many places where magic can be inscribed. It’s quite possible they inscribed the magic in one location.”
When they entered the room, Fisher pondered where they could have engraved the magic. Many young individuals were despondently squatting on the ground, uncertain about what to do.
After Losang returned, he slowly walked over to Carlo. At that moment, Fisher realized Carlo had put on Prince Losang’s clothing, probably injured during the battle.
“Did we already finish off those monsters? Just now, one monster’s head exploded next to me, and I thought I was swimming in the restroom. Ugh.”
“When can we get out?”
“Damn Nali people, they couldn’t even get this done. They didn’t even know when the magic was set up!”
Ken felt a bit helpless. He was older and had just lived through a harrowing catastrophe, and now being ridiculed like this by foreigners was even more disheartening. Although this matter was the New Party’s responsibility, he was indeed a Nali person. Whether it was the New Party or the Griffin Party, it was a loss of face for Saint Nali University and even the Nali people.
But Prince Losang ignored the scholars and instead started discussing with Fisher where the magic was most likely inscribed, with Roger and Selina sitting nearby.
They had just informed the two magic professors about the monsters’ rebirth, which implied they needed to locate the magic source before the next monster wave; otherwise, they would face those monsters again.
Roger rubbed his shoulder and warned,
“We need to move quickly; those monsters are getting stronger each time. The last time, one nearly broke my arm. If we delay any longer, we’ll become increasingly fatigued.”
“Well, the current issue is where the magic is inscribed, able to sneak by the New Party’s search without being detected. They should have used magical instruments to scan every corner of this building to ensure no magic was present.”
Upon hearing this, Ken quickly spoke up,
“I guarantee! The New Party’s people have thoroughly searched up and down many times. Before we entered, every item and every wall was checked. During our meeting, it was impossible to inscribe such an ultra-circle magic!”
Fisher stroked his chin, thoughts flowing through his mind. Suddenly, his eyes lit up.
He seemed to have realized where the people from the Pink Pavilion inscribed their magic.
