Chapter 185: 121. Healing Room
Around noon on the second day, Fisher packed his belongings and prepared to leave Klein Mountain with Jasmine to attend a charity dinner at the Healing Room in Saint Nali city.
Xiatu had nothing to do lately and found no food at the Southern Continent Subhuman Protection Association, nor any comfort in the mountains, so she decided not to take Fisher’s carriage and planned to stroll back to her house at her own pace.
“Well, I don’t know what you guys are going to do, but if you need help, just let me know. I’ll be back at the protection association afterward. I’m quite reliable.”
“No problem.”
Standing in front of the carriage, Xiatu placed her hands on her hips with her bow slung over her shoulder and said this to Fisher, who was holding the reins.
At that moment, the window of the carriage opened a small curtain, revealing Jasmine’s bright, watery eyes. She waved goodbye to Xiatu, saying, “Goodbye.”
After Fisher nodded to Xiatu, he gave a light command, urging the horses, which had been grazing for several days, toward the city. He still needed to return to his rental place to change his clothing since the charity dinner would officially start in the evening, and there was still ample time.
The carriage moved slowly across the grasslands on the outskirts of Saint Nali, while the rivers along the way slowly diverged from their path toward another direction.
Simultaneously, the buildings of the Southern Continent Subhuman Protection Association and Saint Nali University, which they had seen on the way here, appeared one after another in Fisher and Jasmine’s view.
Since the wave of attacks at Saint Nali University and the occurrence of subhumans infiltrating it, security there had become much stricter than before, and preparations were underway to build a two-meter-high wall. The mud walls partially obstructed Jasmine’s view, preventing her from seeing the outline of the swimming pool.
Disappointed, she withdrew her gaze and quietly ran to the front of the carriage door to watch Fisher drive the carriage.
Ahead, the city of Saint Nali remained bustling. The morning city was filled with noise and voices, radiating brilliance like the pearl of the Western Continent.
However, the autumn weather in Nali was not favorable at this time. A heavy rain cloud with dark shadows was forming in the distance over the ocean, slowly moving toward them from the other side of the ocean, giving a sense of an impending storm.
The heavy moisture was drawn into Fisher’s chest with each breath as he slowly put on his black gentleman’s hat. Just as he was about to turn around, he noticed that the carriage door had opened a small crack again, and Jasmine’s blue eyes were quietly watching him. The movement made her shrink slightly, appearing particularly adorable.
“Nervous?”
“A little bit, because although Miss Xiatu taught me a lot during training, it isn’t a real battle. I’m afraid I might get confused when the time comes.”
“Don’t worry. Xiatu and I both believe you are well prepared. I’ve seen your progress over the past few days. Don’t underestimate yourself; just present your best state to meet the challenge before you make a mistake.”
Jasmine bit her lip, gazing at Fisher’s back as he turned to look at the road, and gently nodded.
“Yeah!”
The Healing Room’s location was quite tranquil. The Klein River flowed smoothly from the northeast mountains and created a small bay within Saint Nali city. Amidst the lush greenery before this bay, a building primarily in light blue appeared as if unveiling a hidden veil.
The road beside the building was lined with neatly arranged green vegetation. Overall, the Healing Room boasted a tasteful environment and decor, which explained its popularity among the Nali nobility and ladies who flocked here by carriage for beauty and relaxation.
In fact, the Healing Room building had been constructed long ago, but it had remained relatively unknown because it initially didn’t accept guests and was used as a private domain by Blake.
No one cared about what was happening in the rich merchants’ homes; it didn’t relate to their lives, and Blake was notably the most low-key among all the wealthy merchants.
Only in recent years had this beauty and maintenance facility, located on the outskirts of Saint Nali, begun to come into the view of the middle class, possibly due to a noblewoman who had received treatment there spreading the word—or from a collaborating company. In any case, the nature of this building gradually transformed into a public beauty service.
The Healing Room was sure to be bustling today. Early this morning, as soon as it had awakened, the staff began preparing for the evening’s banquet venue. Not just the outdoor courtyard, but also the interior would open up for guests of Saint Nali. After all, during the day, only ladies receiving services could enter.
Around evening, the sky today appeared darker than usual because of the rain clouds covering it. Just a while later, luxurious private carriages began to arrive at the Healing Room’s entrance, many of which bore the coats of arms of Nali nobles and company logos that were rarely seen during the day, indicating the forces behind these carriages.
At this moment, three flags had been raised in front of the Healing Room, ranking from high to low: the royal flag bearing the golden pattern of Godlin, the emblem of the Bank of Olive Leaves, and the lowest one, a wavy flag representing Blake’s Healing Room.
It was unclear how the symbol of the Healing Room was conceived. Nevertheless, it had remained the same since they began to solicit guests. Over the past two years, the noblewomen had grown accustomed to it.
At this moment, a beautiful lady in a silver-white gown slowly emerged from the Healing Room, her long, elegant hair tied in a stylish bun. With her hands on her abdomen and a polite smile, she gazed at the road ahead.
This was the current decision-maker of the Healing Room, Lady Kachina.
She had come out to welcome the distinguished guests who would be appearing at tonight’s charity gala. The first guest had already arrived.
In the quiet moment, a carriage adorned with dark golden accessories slowly came to a stop at the entrance of the Healing Room. Out stepped a handsome but visibly displeased young gentleman, none other than His Highness, Prince Lunsis, the Second Prince of Godlin.
His face was unhappy at this moment, especially when he saw Kachina smiling at the entrance. If someone didn’t know better, they might think she owed him money.
“Prince Lunsis, um!”
Kachina slightly bowed to him, but Lunsis abruptly reached out to grab the woman’s neck. Fortunately, there were no other people around besides Lunsis’s attendants at that moment.
According to the rules, royal family members must arrive first, and at least half an hour early, to show respect for the royal family.
Kachina’s eyes moved slightly as he tightened his grip on her neck, and she struggled to grasp his arm. But Lunsis didn’t ease his grip at all; instead, he applied a bit more force, making Kachina’s face grow flushed with pain.
“You better not go too far. I’m taking risks to force the officials to cooperate with you to capture that Ocean Subhuman, and you still haven’t produced any results? Do you think time is abundant? Or are you waiting for Dexter to ascend before taking action?”
“Your Highness, the master will return to normal tonight, and it won’t be long now. Please rest assured.”
Lunsis’s eyes narrowed dangerously as he looked at Kachina. Only after hearing her explanation did he slowly release his grip, allowing her to breathe and step back a bit while covering her neck.
“You’d better be aware that Blake is like my nearly dying father. I hope his mind remains clear.”
After delivering this warning, Lunsis waved his sleeve and walked into the Healing Room, leaving Kachina alone, still clutching her neck in place.
As Lunsis and his attendants walked farther away, Kachina’s expression gradually shifted from submission to furious resentment. She covered her neck with her fair fingers and gently rubbed it, with the red marks Lunsis had left beginning to throb—as if a living part of her was retreating to another place.
“Damn fool. Tsk!”
Kachina glanced angrily over her shoulder, then slowly straightened up. If it weren’t for her master’s cooperation with him, she would have long since devoured that arrogant, incompetent prince. With such a temperament, it was no wonder he was reduced to such a weak state by the ladies of the Pink Pavilion.
Kachina originally contemplated retaliating against Lunsis but suddenly remembered that Blake would regain normalcy tonight. The fear rooted deep within her soul made her suppress such thoughts.
Blake would be unable to leave his villa for several days each month, and even if there were other spies watching her and Anna, they could only gather intelligence after he recovered, proving he had been mostly unconscious these days.
Though she didn’t know what he was doing inside, Kachina’s thoughts were not as complicated as Anna’s. Although she had her own little schemes, she didn’t dare to defy Blake. She merely treated these days of his absence as a vacation.
Once upon a time, when she was captured by Blake to Saint Nali, she was a girl filled with anger and hatred. But after all these years, her rebellious spirit had long since yielded to fear of Blake. She only wanted to settle into her current situation and pass the days.
Even if Lunsis humiliated her, no matter how angry she felt inside, thoughts of Blake would cause her to immediately retreat, deciding to endure. Kachina could see a glimpse of herself in this.
The area in front of the Healing Room gradually quieted down again as Kachina straightened her posture, put on a smiling expression, and prepared to greet the arriving guests.
After all, she would be quite busy tonight.
