The Handbook for Completing Demi-Human Girls – Chapter 20

Chapter 20: Brain Demon Race and Spiderfolk

“Fisher, Fisher, has Chur been sent away?”

The carriage that had been traveling almost until dusk finally stopped. They had breakfast in Kekken City that morning and had a casual lunch with supplies bought from the city. By the afternoon, Ral was nearly faint from hunger and kept urging Fashir and Keshil to get food from Fisher.

Knowing she was starving, Fisher found a small hill near the river to stop, also telling the Dragonfolk that they could get down to stretch their legs for a while. He thought Ral would ask about dinner, but her first words were this.

“Mm.”

After receiving a positive response from Fisher, Ral bit her lip and stole a glance at Fisher, but in the end, she said nothing and ran off to play in the water with Keshil and the others. However, her behavior was no longer as carefree as before.

Fisher glanced at her before getting down from the carriage with his staff and firearm.

The weather in the wilderness today was particularly bad; the fog grew denser as dusk approached. Just as Fisher was about to step out to hunt, he turned back after only a few steps and found that the figures of the Dragon girls playing in the water were gradually becoming invisible. At this moment, Raphael felt unwell and could only stay in the carriage; the sun was about to set, and no one could look after them.

Fisher’s heart skipped a beat, feeling an ominous premonition, so he called for them to return to the carriage.

“Mill, take them back to the carriage and don’t let them come down.”

“Okay, okay.”

Mill, standing at the front of the carriage, shook her tail and hurriedly urged Ral and Fashir to come back in. Raphael, who had slept all afternoon, finally opened her eyes, but her limbs still lacked strength. She weakly took a sip of the river water they had brought back but couldn’t see Fisher.

“Lady Raphael, please continue to rest. Lord Fisher has gone to find dinner.”

“Yes, yes, I brought back a lot of water, you see. I even saw fish in the river, but it’s a pity I couldn’t catch them.”

“Ral, don’t talk anymore.”

Ral, dissatisfied, stuck her tongue out at Fashir beside her and then angrily hid behind Mill.

The thick fog outside gradually spread, and Fisher didn’t dare to go too far, so he could only return to the riverbank to catch fish for dinner. Just as he walked a distance along the river, a ethereal female voice suddenly emerged from the surrounding fog.

“Is anyone there? Hello? Can someone help me?”

The language sounded like Nali, filled with a hint of fragility amidst the panic, making one suspect it might be a noble lady lost outside the city.

“Bang!”

Fisher glanced expressionlessly in that direction and then raised his gun and fired. The flash of the bullet disappeared into the fog, and there was no sound of a body hitting the ground; instead, the woman’s voice abruptly stopped.

Someone was targeting them.

Fisher became particularly alert to his surroundings but did not notice that the eyes of the two horses in front of the carriage were slowly turning an abnormal white.

“Yeehaw!”

As the white color completely saturated their eyes, they suddenly neighed and charged forward, pulling the carriage wildly. Inside, the Dragonfolk were thrown around, holding onto the walls.

“Why did the carriage move? Wait, Fisher hasn’t gotten on yet; go grab the horses!”

Ral’s shout rang out, and just as she was about to get out of the carriage, she heard Fisher’s voice from behind.

“Don’t come out of the carriage!”

Ral froze, and Mill pulled her back.

“Bang Bang!”

Outside, in the dark fog, fire light continuously appeared, and bullets whistled toward Fisher. The faint smell of gunpowder rose in the darkness, and Fisher’s body fell to the ground, while the carriage continued to speed away, completely obscured by the fog.

Inside the carriage, Mill was startled by the gunfire from outside, her legs going weak as she hugged Ral and squeezed to the edge of the steps.

“Where’s Fisher?”

Raphael weakly asked, looking at the galloping carriage, but the man was nowhere to be seen.

“He’s still outside; he just said not to let us out of the carriage…”

Keshil and Fashir’s expressions turned serious as they turned to Mill.

“You take Ral and Lady Raphael back to the room first; we must have been ambushed. We’re going to stop the carriage.”

Before Mill could nod, a sound suddenly echoed from the top of the speeding carriage as if something had fallen. The sudden noise made Ral and the others turn their eyes toward the carriage door, where several legs like steel knives solidly landed in the place Fisher had previously occupied.

Next, as the massive spider body completely landed on the carriage, they could see the graceful figure of a woman in the upper half of the spider’s body.

She was a stunningly voluptuous woman, with short silver hair swaying in the wind. She wore only a simple covering over her chest and had striking features, the only difference being that above her normal eyes were six crimson compound eyes.

“Don’t move, ladies; as long as you don’t move, nothing will happen.”

Glancing at the girls sitting on the steps, she spoke.

Although her mouth moved to form a complex language, it transformed into Feimabaha Dragon Tongue as it entered their ears, allowing them to understand.

The spider lady raised her pale blue-skinned arms, holding two human short-barreled firearms.

“I ask, you answer… who else is in the carriage?”

“…It’s just us.”

“Lying brings no reward; are you trying to protect your human master?”

Ral couldn’t help but stick her head out from behind Mill and yelled.

“There’s just us; there’s no one else! Fisher hasn’t gotten on yet!”

The spider lady frowned and spoke to the air.

“Keshil, what has happened to that human?”

From the void, a light voice spoke calmly.

“He got shot; he should be dead.”

Mill and Ral’s faces slightly changed, both appearing somewhat incredulous.

“Hmm, it seems I was mistaken; this doesn’t seem to be the carriage of any wealthy human. But a mosquito leg is better than nothing. Let’s head back now. You come back quickly too, Keshil.”

The spider lady lowered her gun and squeezed her massive body into the small passage of the carriage, but just as she entered, she was startled by the expanding scene inside.

“To think someone would set up magic inside a carriage. My guess may not be wrong after all.”

The spider lady muttered to herself, lowering her head to look at the several Dragon ladies inside the carriage. “One, two, five Dragon slaves, and a red-scaled Dragon, which is quite rare; should fetch a good price.”

As she was speaking, a semi-transparent humanoid figure suddenly appeared behind the galloping horses. One or two seconds later, the figure completely transformed into that of a girl, turning her head; she was a being resembling a human girl, with one eye tightly closed and the opened right eye resembling a vortex with a soft glow moving inside it.

But she was definitely not human, as a transparent head floated above her, through which one could see her brain, resembling a starry sky.

Her head seemed to be transparent except for her facial features!

Finally, Raphael understood why they could understand the language of this spider lady; it turned out the other party had a Brain Demon present.

This subhuman race allowed communication beyond language limits and could control ordinary animals. Before humans entered the Southern Continent, the Brain Demon Race were naturally excellent diplomats, serving as a bridge of communication between various tribes.

One was Spiderfolk, a rare subhuman race living in the forests, and the other was the even rarer Brain Demon Race.

“Xiya, what about the human inside, has it been killed?”

“No, besides the previous human that got out, there’s no one else.”

The one named Keshil nodded, looking expressionlessly at the Dragon ladies in the carriage, her tone a bit cold. “That guy is already dead.”

This is a century that glows with the brilliance of human civilization. This is a world where steam engines, magic, and demi-humans coexist. This is an indictment of crimes committed in the name of exploration. “The Crimson Dragon Queen will rise first, reducing all of humanity to ashes with her flames of fury.” “The mysterious Child of the Sea will summon massive waves to wash away the sins of mankind.” “The Sky God will leave the remnants of humanity with nowhere to hide, no refuge to seek.” “The Undying Witch will write their epitaphs with magic.” “And I… will write the next chapter of the new world.” ……Years later, after receiving an apocalyptic prophecy and a miraculous item known as the Demi-Human Girl Completion Handbook, Fischer hoped he would be remembered as: The pioneer of demi-human studies, the savior of human civilization, the dove of peace, and the messiah. And not as: The one who got chopped with a cleaver, the guy who got torn apart, or the messiah split into quarters.
