Chapter 597: 75. Seeking and Not Satisfied
Fisher cautiously recited the “password” that Cidi had taught him, and then looked up at him, seemingly asking if what he recited was correct.
Cidi was slightly taken aback, then smiled and said, “Very standard, even more standard than I am. This is the correct way to pronounce this password.”
“I’ve memorized it, thank you, Demon God Cidi.”
Fisher glanced again at the two symbols from the Supplement Handbook for Sub-Humans that were on the table, firmly engraving them in his memory while pondering the seven important reminders she had left for him.
He was somewhat aware of some of the information in those seven points, but there were others he had never heard of before.
First was the matter of the Apocalypse Prophecy. On the night Fisher read the Life Completion Manual, when Renee appeared, she had told him about another prophecy that was vastly different from the one on the title page of the Supplement Handbook for Sub-Humans. At that time, she said that prophecy was true while Fisher’s was false.
However, the Subhuman Girl Enthusiast now told Fisher that both prophecies in his hand were true.
So, reasonable inference suggests, could it be that the two true prophecies, which are structurally similar, correspond in content as well?
If so, Raphael is very likely related to “the flame of souls,” while Jasmine is associated with “twisted life.” The pseudo-god of the barrier is “the god of the sky,” while Renee is “the fallacy.”
Though he didn’t understand why the prophecy referred to Renee, who possesses infinite authority, as “the fallacy,” if the four points of the two prophecies correspond one to one, then the second piece of content left by the Subhuman Girl Enthusiast becomes understandable; she was emphasizing the fact that Renee is an ally. But for him, Renee was already a close woman, was there still a need to doubt whether she was an ally?
The reminders from the Subhuman Girl Enthusiast were limited, so Fisher began to consider the later few.
The third point states that Fisher is the key to solving the Apocalypse Prophecy, which should be related to his uniqueness, perhaps also due to the close relationships he developed with a few ladies while following the guidance of the Supplement Handbook for Sub-Humans. Fisher wasn’t quite sure about this.
As for the sixth and seventh points, Fisher had some clues. Because in Jahl Uzz’s notes, the term “ocean” had appeared as well, which seemed to be the true master of the Sea of Souls in the spirit realm.
Moreover, he remembered that a thousand years ago, when he entered the mythical rank, Renee’s authority had once materialized. She reminded Fisher that he was very special to the ocean.
So, since the Subhuman Girl Enthusiast said to “be careful of the ocean,” and the “ocean” she referred to corresponds to the information Fisher previously obtained, she was warning Fisher, “The master of the Sea of Souls already has his eyes on you; you need to be extra cautious.”
The “ocean” does not refer to a deity of the current world, and Fisher had never seen its name outside of the authority and Jahl Uzz’s notes, so this being with divine-level standing must also be a form of chaos.
People targeted by chaos generally do not have a good ending, as can be seen from several possible Trans figures who may have been blessed by chaos.
As for the last point about going to the spirit realm, Fisher could understand that too, because it is both the outer side and the depths of the world, an area unbound by the gods’ rules, where there are “pseudo-gods” directly related to the Apocalypse Prophecy, not to mention that it has been known to Fisher for ten thousand years that the spirit realm is the only possible direction for those Trans figures to escape, making it reasonable to have many buried secrets.
However, what truly left Fisher confused were the fourth and fifth points.
“There is one or six existences outside the fence intending to destroy the world.”
“The gods are chaos.”
Each of these sentences was familiar to Fisher, but combined they seemed so abstract that he could not fully understand them.
The meanings of these two sentences, if stated plainly, are indeed very straightforward; but the problem is that many possibilities may be hidden behind this meaning, and if all are possible, then in a certain sense it means that none are certain.
Fisher pondered for a moment, then looked up at Cidi and asked, “Does Demon God Cidi have any insights on these messages she left? Or did she mention corresponding explanations to you?”
Cidi shook his head regretfully and smiled, “Sorry, I’ve already told you every single word she said when she woke me up at that time. Also, I feel that she may no longer have the ability for more explanations; to say that much and do that much was all she could do back then.”
“What does this mean?”
“Kid, it means she’s also a Trans figure, and one who has lived for who knows how long.”
Cidi clapped his hands and then said to Fisher, “When I first met her, you might find her personality strange, but you can tell that this is her true nature. But when she woke me up, she bore an unprecedented serious and bizarre demeanor. She was already on the edge of madness and collapse, as if being ravaged and tormented by an invincible enemy. It was a stroke of luck that she could clearly say these words.”
And this seemed to explain why Cidi previously mentioned that whatever ending that guy faced could be anything, with the greatest likelihood being dying in some unknown place.
Upon hearing this information, Fisher’s heart felt somewhat wistful; someone like the Subhuman Girl Enthusiast, who appeared so colorful in her achievements, and even the Completion Handbook was distinctly different from other Trans figures, still could not escape a similar fate.
“I see.”
Seeing the complex expression on Fisher’s face, Cidi cupped his chin with his delicate white palm, thought for a moment, then added, “However, based on my experience from knowing her for thousands of years, that guy dislikes speaking in riddles. Aside from all the trash talk, when she speaks seriously, she never beats around the bush.”
“What you mean is, these unclear hints she provides don’t actually have deeper meanings but are all surface-level meanings. It’s just that I lack the information now, so I can’t comprehend them?”
Cidi raised a finger and gently shook it, saying, “That’s one possibility. Another possibility is that the information she wants to convey is crucial, but she can’t speak directly and can only remind you in a roundabout way.”
“Can’t say.”
“Yes, there might be some reason why she can’t say directly. But I want to remind you that that guy is extremely capable; a human who could mix with so many mythical beings before the Mythical War is not something explainable by mere interest in a ‘Subhuman Girl.’ If whatever reason has left her unable to speak plainly, then you must be psychologically prepared.”
Cidi’s pink eyes were shrouded in a terrifying haze as he spoke slowly, “The reason that keeps her silent must be very terrifying and difficult to overcome.”
Fisher was silent for a moment, then took a deep breath, thanked Cidi again, and took out the map left by the Subhuman Girl Enthusiast. From the perspective of a local Nali, the place she referred to as “Saint Nali” was actually still quite far from Saint Nali, approximately fifty kilometers away.
However, his geographical skills were not strong enough to discern the specific name of that place from the unmarked map, so he could only fold the map back up and place it in the Supplement Handbook for Sub-Humans in his bosom.
“Thank you for the reminder, Demon God Cidi. By the way, do you know the current situation? Aren’t you curious why we’re demolishing your husband’s teleportation gate?”
Cidi yawned, and when he heard Fisher’s question, a hint of curiosity appeared on his delicate and beautiful face, asking, “Right, why are you guys tearing down my husband’s home and teleportation gate?”
“…”
Fisher realized that this Demon God Cidi had a somewhat neurotic side.
He sighed and had to roughly explain the current situation to her.
After finishing, he originally thought this Demon God would have some reaction, whether agreeable or dissenting, but unexpectedly, Cidi appeared exceptionally calm, silently listening to everything, then propped her cheek with her hand, simply standing there looking as beautiful as a painting, making it hard to distinguish between male and female, just wanting to appreciate that most intuitive beauty.
But Fisher certainly had no such interest. Although Cidi’s appearance was exceptional, and she was a “subhuman” beyond humanity, it seemed that to him, the difference before and after the term “girl” made a significant difference.
After a considerable time, Cidi finally said with some distress, “Baemon really causes harm. However, if everything was her plan, it wouldn’t be surprising.”
“You also know about Baemon quite well?”
Cidi pursed his lips, shook his head, and said, “I don’t know her well, and I can assert that there’s no being in this world who truly understands her, not even those deities. No one knows what she is thinking, nor the logic behind her actions. If there’s some deeper meaning, her actions seem more like fun; if it’s purely for fun, considering the time span, she always seems to reap returns, just like the ‘base’ she is currently using. So, anything she does is not surprising.
“She has never had followers and has never had a heartfelt friend. Even in this divided Demon Dynasty, she is the most solitary demon, always alone. Hey, strange, kid, I suddenly realize that whenever I mention her, your eyes always have a complex meaning. It’s not like that of an enemy, but more like a sulking lover.”
Fisher was slightly taken aback, his gaze sweeping over the swirling pink mist in Cidi’s eyes. In front of that mist, so-called “carnal desire” and “feelings” seemed to be analyzed and transformed into something visible.
“I had contact with her before.”
Fisher didn’t explicitly say that he knew her in the past, nor did he mention Baemon’s earlier story. Cidi appeared to be unconcerned, simply smiling and saying, “My eyes can see through the conflicting emotions of this world; any complex and unspeakable emotions can be unraveled by me. So, from my perspective, your connection with her is more than simple contact; it is more like a relentless entanglement.
“Although in past dynasties we were not very familiar with each other, we could be considered acquainted. Only Baemon left others feeling cold, so no one has truly understood her. Mentioning her is merely strange to others. Yet I subtly feel a loneliness beyond the coldness, which assures me she indeed has feelings, only we are not the objects of those feelings, hence we feel nothing.”
Upon hearing this, Fisher moved a little, her smiling angelic face suddenly flashing in his mind without warning.
It was a thousand years of loneliness communicated through Cidi’s words for Fisher to hear.
“As for now… although I’m not very optimistic about you two, because over there are my husband, who has already left this place, and that guy Ag, it seems infeasible for you to resist them. However, I won’t stop you, since you have such a connection with my friend, and Eil is also helping you; it puts me in a difficult position.”
Cidi’s finally articulated position pulled Fisher out of Hela’s memories. He gratefully glanced at Cidi and then said, “Thank you for your help. I’ve gained a lot this time. I will personally verify the words of your friend after I handle things here.”
“Well, then let’s head to the Performance Gate for knowledge. Although I won’t contribute much, I do want to see my husband again, if possible.”
“However, I have one last thing to ask.” Just as Fisher was about to leave, he suddenly thought of something and asked Cidi, “Did your friend know that I would definitely come here several decades ago?”
Cidi smiled and crossed his fingers, asking, “What’s wrong? Doubting everything you’ve encountered and experienced before was arranged by her?”
“Is that possible?”
“I don’t know, but when she entrusted me back then, she said, ‘If one day you wake up in the future, it means the soul energy I left for you has taken effect. Please find a human man who has my aura and tell him some words.'”
Fisher was slightly stunned, then smiled and said, “I see.”
“Mm, that’s all. Let’s go, kid. We’re off to the Performance Gate.”
Cidi stretched lazily, stood up, and tossed her long red hair back behind her shoulders as she said this to Fisher.
“Buzz, buzz, buzz!”
Passing through the howling winds that outlined the rugged mountainous terrain of the “Performance Gate,” they dove deep into the lava, where a deep, star-like glow appeared before them. Sitting on the ground in front of the spiral cave formed by the red-hot lava, Eil was watching Jasmine and Emhart’s group approached, rubbing his temples wearily. The tail behind him also swayed uneasily.
“So, he met Baemon’s husband there? Even though he only has the thirteenth rank now, Fisher still eagerly followed him?”
Jasmine pursed her lips, but she was still dissatisfied with Eil’s big sister-like manner of questioning her, as if they were some kind of criminals, and pouted, saying, “That Demon God Cidi has very important information related to someone that Fisher-sensei recognized before, and Fisher-sensei himself said he wants to go.”
Then it was Emhart’s turn to raise a hand to express his opinion, saying, “It’s also possible that Fisher is being seduced by Cidi.”
“Shut up!”
“You shut up!”
Eil and Jasmine simultaneously scolded in displeasure, causing Sir Book, who was trying to liven up the classroom atmosphere, to suddenly feel struck by lightning, deflated and curled up on the ground in grievance, only to receive sympathetic glances from the Death Lord.
However, after hearing Jasmine’s words, Eil stroked his chin and muttered, “Is this person a man or a woman?”
“Hey, Eil!”
Just then, a somewhat delicate, charming male voice came from not far away.
Eil’s brows twitched, and his whole body trembled as he looked up, quickly seeing the red-haired Demon God Cidi cheerfully following the expressionless Fisher, waving her hand above her head as if greeting him.
“Cidi.”
Eil said with some headache. Before he could start talking formally, he saw Cidi’s expression suddenly change with surprise as she looked at him.
Her starry pink eyes blinked, then she pointed at Eil and said, “Hey, Eil, you seem a bit unsatisfied!”
“.”
