Chapter 710: Another Phone Call
As Fisher walked out of Gouwen’s basement, his expression was far from pleasant, mainly due to what he had learned about Jasmine.
In his view, Jasmine’s return to the Spirit Realm brought no benefits, and compared to her safety now, facing the past seemed less important.
Of course, Ramastia’s intentions likely went beyond just having her confront her past; Fisher thought it also related to addressing the lingering contamination in the Spirit Realm from Dream.
However, Jasmine wouldn’t be coming to the Spirit Realm immediately. She had yet to reach the Mythical Rank, and being a soul chased by pollution, rushing to the Spirit Realm would be suicidal. Ramastia was still searching for a way to ensure her safety in the Spirit Realm, giving Fisher and Gouwen time to discuss matters.
Gouwen was prepared to communicate with Ramastia again, while Fisher didn’t want to trouble his ailing body and decided to head to the angelic sanctuary that Captain Alagina had taken him to investigate David’s situation after Hamon Hamon awoke.
“Renee!”
Fisher retraced his steps. He had spent some time with Gouwen, and upon his return, Lady Bojiang had already coiled her numerous, complex limbs together and was quietly watching Renee, who was skillfully spinning Emhart like a flying dart in her hand.
“Ah, ah, ah, ah, ah.”
It seemed Renee had heard the dangerous statement from this opportunistic character. It wasn’t long ago that he had defected from the steadfast support of Lady Renee to serve Jasmine, only to have unfortunate luck to run into the real deal and face a brutal reprimand.
Seeing Fisher return, Renee stopped her spinning, glanced at the nearby Lady Bojiang, and asked,
“Why did it take so long? Was it because of that whale person?”
“Ah.”
Emhart, feeling dizzy, flew back to Fisher’s side. Fisher gave a silent look at the disoriented Emhart in his arms and replied,
“Thanks to Lady Bojiang for informing me about the sanctuary’s location, and Gouwen also gave me the small boat he uses to navigate the Spirit Realm. We can set off soon.”
“Perfect, I’ll go with you.”
Renee stood up, startling the floating Emhart, who quickly looked at Fisher with a pleading gaze, showing clear reluctance to accompany Renee.
There were no good endings for traitors, and only Fisher was so generous to him.
Fisher tucked him into his arms, nodded, and led Renee toward Gouwen’s small boat. They came across some strange creatures from the outside world playing games. Upon seeing Fisher approach, one of them hurriedly pointed behind, saying,
“Gouwen isn’t here; he’s on the island. You should go find him!”
“Ah, Gouwen’s there? That’s great!”
“How rare, let’s go.”
Watching that group of lively creatures leave, Fisher wiped the nonexistent sweat from his forehead and jumped into the floating translucent small boat, turning to see Renee still standing still, not drifting over, indicating she was waiting for him.
So he extended his hand and invited her,
“Please board, Miss Renee.”
“.Hmm, you look a lot more tired than before. Are you sure you don’t want to rest a bit?”
Renee only assessed his face, and after a moment did not take his offered hand to board; instead, she floated up, cupped his cheeks with her hands, and asked so.
Only when Renee mentioned it did Fisher realize he indeed hadn’t rested for ages, constantly running around and feeling on edge.
But since everything was not yet over, a little comfort was enough.
He pulled the floating Renee onto the boat and sat down, saying,
“With you by my side, it feels like resting.”
“Oh, am I that magical?”
Renee smiled as she sat at the edge of the transparent boat, her bare feet swaying slightly outside, looking a little playful and enchanting.
“Yes.”
Fisher replied but when he turned around, he encountered a problem.
He did not know what material the small boat was made of or how to operate it. It only struck him after boarding the boat that he had forgotten to ask Gouwen how to control it, and now going back might mean encountering Gouwen being pestered by those strange beings.
In his predicament, it was Renee who covered her mouth, chuckling softly, and pointed to the front end of the small boat, saying,
“Just place your hands there, and you can control it.”
Fisher turned back and obeyed; the moment he placed his hands on it, translucent threads suddenly shot out and wrapped around his palms, as if integrating deeply into his body. In that instant, Fisher felt at one with the small boat, and a protective shield appeared, isolating them from the Crimson Mist in the Spirit Realm.
“Fascinating.”
“Right? This technology originates from Ramastia’s ancient civilization. I’ve seen it a few times. This boat was given to the whale person. It can navigate the Spirit Realm and block out some contamination, but it can’t fully eliminate it.”
“By the way, what was the method Lady Bojiang mentioned to overcome the Spirit Realm pollution?”
As they set off, Fisher used only his thoughts to control the vessel, and the holographic interface of the Supplement Handbook for Sub-Humans appeared, directing him to the location indicated on the map.
Renee nodded, gazing at the Crimson Mist outside, saying,
“You should have experienced the terror of this Spirit Realm pollution by now. It can turn various bizarre things into reality amidst the pollution, making the impossible possible, forming an almost unbreakable barrier, just like true magic, and the magic that humans use is also created from its source. But this dreamlike power is not without roots.”
“You mean…”
Fisher recalled what he saw when enveloped by the Crimson pollution; the surreal feeling of things turning into reality in an instant was hard to describe. Even now, thinking back, he felt dizzy, as if he were dreaming.
But upon closer inspection, those imagined strange things were closely related to Tang Zeming Asuka.
The paper currency with Japanese characters, each Chinese character of runaway homes, and fairy tale-like castles.
Yet Alagina was clearly not in that illusion. She had lost consciousness and stumbled out of the sanctuary, and Alagina wasn’t someone Asuka would recognize, meaning Alagina’s image must have originated from Fisher’s mind.
With Renee’s reminder, Fisher raised his eyebrows and said,
“Thoughts?”
“Uh, I was initially going to say memories, but what you said is even more accurate.”
Renee smiled and nodded, raising a finger, saying,
“You’re right. For pollution to cause substantial harm and affect your body, it must rely on the thoughts in your mind. Conversely, the method to overcome the contamination becomes obvious.”
“But completely eliminating thoughts from your mind is too difficult.”
“Isn’t that what I’m here for? I can reduce your thoughts to the ‘infinitesimal.’ When the charm activates, it won’t be able to affect you, but at the same time, your mind will feel a bit dull.”
Renee extended her hand, drawing a symbol on Fisher’s body, as if lying down a “0,” emitting a faint light.
However, at this moment, with the small boat present, and not knowing if it was because Ramastia had previously stopped it from approaching the crevice, Fisher felt the Spirit Realm pollution to be remarkably quiet, as if it were merely a layer of mist disturbing the sight.
The rune left by Renee could be used as an emergency, and in that brief conversation, they quickly approached the direction of the crevice. A massive marker labeled “Crevice” had already appeared on the map displayed in the Supplement Handbook for Sub-Humans.
Just as Fisher wanted to raise his eyes to see what the world enveloped by the crevice looked like, Renee suddenly reached out to cover his eyes, saying,
“Don’t look; Dalasgon’s true form is currently visible. If you see it, you’ll get hurt.”
“.Alright.”
He stopped looking that way. In the boundless crimson mist, a black silhouette floated into view, and before they approached, Fisher felt the call of the Fluid Sword.
It was the Fluid Sword he had left here.
“We’ve arrived.”
Fisher leaned against the bow. This was his first time getting a good look at the angel’s sanctuary from the outside, which appeared like clusters of mushroom umbrellas, taking on a full shape, and had many complex angelic inscriptions above. However, visibly, he could also see quite a few crude steel plates, likely the result of David patching them up earlier.
After a moment of hesitation, Fisher decided to enter through the previously patched area, as it conveniently led to the dock.
He waved slightly, and the Fluid Sword hovered down swiftly, revealing a bright space below.
The small boat entered through the gap, and then he tossed the Fluid Sword back to its original spot, covering the patch, and then lifted the shield of the small boat.
“Clink clink.”
Just as Fisher and Renee landed, a crisp sound came from nearby. He quickly turned to see David, who had led Fisher on their previous tour, carefully holding a wrench and peering down through a hollow railing at Fisher and Renee, who had descended from above.
“David?”
Interestingly, even though David’s actions clearly showed he was startled, his expression remained as mechanical as ever, resembling the impassive angels.
“It’s you, Mr. Fisher. You’ve returned to reality, and the device for Miss Alagina’s transfer has been compromised. I didn’t expect you to return directly from the Spirit Realm.”
“Oh, so this is your and Alagina’s secret base? That’s news to me.”
Before Fisher could respond, Renee behind him stroked her chin and spoke meaningfully.
When the Apocalypse Prophecy situation was not urgent, she could often observe Fisher, but now with the situation critical, she had to stop observing and didn’t expect that little pirate had sailed the boat into the Spirit Realm.
Fisher was slightly taken aback and asked,
“Last time I was attacked by Spirit Realm pollution right here. Weren’t you there then? I thought you knew; after all, you seemed to know everything before…”
As Renee listened, her cheeks puffed up, and she raised her finger to pinch Fisher’s waist, twisting it around.
“Hah? I only roughly knew you might have come to the sanctuary through something left by the angels. Who knew it was that Alagina who took you here? I’m not a worm in your belly to suspect your private meetings, right?”
“Uh, uh, uh.”
For the things she didn’t know, Miss Renee displayed formidable aggression.
As Renee twisted Fisher’s waist, David let go of the wrench he had raised for protection, slowly floating down. Fisher quickly asked,
“David, what were you just doing?”
David glanced at the ship behind him and replied,
“I suddenly received a signal from the sanctuary where my parents are. The transition device for Miss Alagina entering the Spirit Realm could not be sensed. I only found this out when I talked to her using a simple intercom. Right now, Miss Alagina cannot temporarily come to the Spirit Realm, so I’m preparing to set off there myself to search for my parents.”
Fisher frowned, suppressing Renee’s mischief, said,
“You should know that the entity that likely damaged the transition device is the root cause of Michael and Mikhail being kept away from you, right? It’s an exterior deity; what did that message say?”
“.The message said that their stronghold is now open to all conscious beings, and many previously deleted contents have suddenly reappeared in my network. The last coordinates where my parents appeared were within his stronghold, so… no matter what, I want to check it out.”
Renee released her grip on Fisher’s waist, a hint of vigilance flickering in her purple eyes.
“Hamon Hamon. This deity’s power is terrifying and can be said to be the most destructive among several outer gods. A millennium ago, thank goodness his chaos erupted in the Spirit Realm and not in reality; otherwise, even with three demigods, it could not have been stopped back then. He has been silent for so long, locked within an angel’s sanctuary. Without being connected to the network, he had no chance to escape from there.”
As she spoke, Renee’s gaze also fell on David.
“Your network settings must have been closed by your so-called parents, and Alagina helped you reopen it, right?”
“Uh-huh, Miss Alagina helped me. So, did I and Miss Alagina release him?”
“Yes, most likely so. Hamon Hamon’s authority is called ‘Aberration,’ capable of changing the inherent properties of material and even affecting the powers of other deities. However, strangely, according to his nature, you must have unknowingly turned into a creature that spreads aberration viruses by now, yet you are still safe; that’s quite odd.”
When David learned that he and Alagina had released the terrifying entity from its stronghold, a slight shade of guilt crossed his previously icy expression. Yet as Renee turned the conversation slightly, he seized the hope of finding his parents like a drowning person grasps a piece of wood.
“So, could it be that it’s no longer dangerous there?”
“Well, about that…”
Renee wasn’t too sure, and Fisher turned directly to David, saying,
“Regardless, we need to check it out afterward, but before that, you mentioned earlier you could still manipulate the mechanism?”
“Yes, but only a part. The majority of the control has been taken away; it must be that Hamon Hamon did it and took most of the control mechanisms back to the Spirit Realm, leaving no extra actions.”
Fisher stroked his chin, quickly making a decision.
“Then, David, I want to see the new data that has appeared in your database; maybe we can learn something about that sanctuary. Also, I need to borrow one of the mechanisms you left in reality, the kind that can communicate; I want to talk to people there.”
Ramistia must have informed Raphael and the others of Jasmine’s safety when they tried to prevent the Spirit Realm pollution from taking her, but it didn’t count as Fisher directly saying it himself, and he still cared about the current situation in reality.
“No problem, please follow me, Mr. Fisher, and this lady.”
Renee shot a jealous glance at Fisher, as she clearly knew he was going to contact other women.
But then she thought, now they were in the Spirit Realm, and those women couldn’t come up. The situation was different from before; it wasn’t Renee exerting tremendous effort to reunite with Fisher in reality anymore; rather, those women were completely stuck across the reality chasm and unable to reunite with Fisher.
Hehe, let them taste the hardships of long-distance relationships!
“Renee?”
Renee’s expression changed to a dark, scheming smile, while Fisher, who was preparing to leave, turned back confused to see why Renee had not moved. In that instant, her face transformed back into a gentle smile.
“Let’s go, let’s go, hehe.”
“What are you laughing about?”
“Just thinking of something happy~”
The more Renee said that, the more Fisher felt like something big was waiting for him, but seeing Renee’s current expression didn’t make it seem so, which left him puzzled.
He quickly followed David back to the monitoring hall. In the room where he previously sent a message to Ramastia, David handed a device to Fisher—it was the device for manipulating the mechanism.
“This device won’t let us see the reality, right?”
“Yes, devices with cameras were either damaged during the previous battles in reality or had their control taken over. This one is just a two-way radio for emergency contact with Miss Alagina.”
“I see.”
Thinking about it, he suddenly felt this wasn’t his first time making such a call.
Previously, when being chased by Death in the Northern Region, he had called Elizabeth, and afterward, contacted Tang Zeming Asuka through a mechanism in the Holy Realm.
Now, he was about to make the third call like this.
“Are you ready? I’m about to open the connection of the radio. I’m not sure what time it is in reality now or if the radio is near Alagina, so there’s a chance it may not connect.”
“Yeah, go ahead.”
Renee stood by, arms crossed, watching curiously as Fisher dialed the number. Seeing those women unable to even show their faces and only able to call from a distance made her smile grow even deeper.
Hmph, this is the pain of long-distance relationships!
“Buzz, buzz.”
After a brief shake, a sound came from the radio, but it was all irregular electronic noises, indicating it had not yet connected.
Fisher glanced at David in front of him; he was not looking this way but operating the additional content in the database in front of a multitude of screens, waiting to show it to Fisher later.
“Buzz, buzz.”
“Hey, what’s going on? Raphael, come check it out! It seems to be making noise.”
“What’s this… Is this the captain of Sardinia’s item? Just leave it here; don’t mess with it, Jasmine.”
“No, it just suddenly started making noise. Should we wait for her to return?”
Fisher was slightly taken aback because the voices of Raphael and Jasmine suddenly emerged from the radio.
His eyes brightened, and he hurriedly spoke into the radio,
“Raphael, Jasmine, it’s me!”
“.Ra… Raphael, do you hear Fisher’s voice?”
“…”
“Thud!”
“Patter, patter, patter!”
Suddenly, a crisp sound came from the other end of the radio, followed by a series of footsteps. Fisher felt the other side of the radio being picked up,
“Hello? Fisher, is that you?”
The voice speaking was indeed Raphael’s.
Please vote, tip, and support; it means a lot to me!
Thank you so much for your support!
