The Handbook for Completing Demi-Human Girls – Chapter 98

Chapter 98: 34. Unexpected

The time was five in the afternoon, and the location was a hotel that temporarily provided a resting place. The room was not large, or rather, it didn’t need to be spacious; a soft bed was all that was required.

Carolina was clearly very unfamiliar with such an ambiguous atmosphere. Not only that, but seeing that Shivali gentleman take off his coat made her feel physically nauseous, yet at the same time, her heart was filled with a strange sense of stimulation.

Carolina hesitated for a moment, turned sideways, and lay down on the bed. After all, she saw the ladies in the Pink Pavilion doing this, so there was no problem imitating them.

“Hey, hurry up!”

Fisher had his back to her while he took something out from his pocket. Carolina thought he was about to take some medicine or something and couldn’t help but pucker her lips. She had no intention of doing that with him; she had already made up her mind to use her charm magic to enchant this guy, and when he was affected by the magic, she would ask him questions.

But this guy just wouldn’t come over. How could she cast magic on him like this?

“Are you someone who works at the Pink Pavilion?”

“Not really; I’m just temporarily staying there. Don’t ask about this; it’s already a special exception to be out here alone with you. If we don’t hurry, we’ll be caught.”

“I see.”

At that moment, Carolina suddenly realized that the item the gentleman had taken out was not some kind of dragon-blood-enhancing pill but a pair of tweezers glowing with white light.

An ominous premonition surged within her as she saw the gentleman suddenly bring the tweezers to his face, and before Carolina’s astonished gaze, he brutally tore his own face off, revealing a normally pale male visage.

He placed the silk fabric that was covering his face on the table and then turned to look expressionlessly at the lady behind him. Her complexion changed dramatically, clearly recognizing Fisher.

“Do you know me?”

“You!”

Wasn’t he the man who caught Bart the Sorceress on Snakehead Street that day?

In just a second, she realized that she had stepped into Fisher’s trap.

Without any warning, she suddenly threw the duvet beneath her toward Fisher and jumped out of bed, attempting to flee out the window.

But that demon-like man behind her wouldn’t let her have it her way. Fisher reached out, straight through the duvet, and firmly grasped her wrist, yanking her body back.

Carolina gritted her teeth and drew a blade from her pocket, slashing at Fisher, but he easily dodged it and even caught her knife-wielding hand with one of his hands. In the next second, Fisher violently twisted her arm, dislocating her right hand.

“Ah!”

She let out a painful scream. The agony from the dislocated joint felt magnified many times over in an instant, and her knife fell to the ground. Fisher didn’t give her a chance to catch her breath and swiftly disarmed her left hand too, then bound her with the threader, tossing her onto the bed.

“Where do you think you’re running to? Undying Sorceress.”

Carolina, with her pale face, unwillingly glanced at the gentleman beside her, unable to believe that this man had been disguising himself since stepping into the Pink Pavilion this morning! That Shivali gentleman was all a sham! This cunning man had not been truthful in anything the entire day!

Were all the men in Nali as sly as he?

She had stepped into his realm just to gain information about Shivali, which was akin to throwing herself into a trap, and now following him was simply foolish.

Only now did Carolina realize how foolish her actions were. If she had known, she would have listened to that woman Anna.

As she looked at her bindings once more, she thought this but did not show it on her face. Instead, she turned red and cursed,

“You bastard! Who the hell are you? You captured Bart; you’re not one of the Sorceress Research Society! I have no grudges with you! What do you want from me? Or do you want to create a flawed Sorceress like Bart?”

Fisher silently took in the information in her words and contemplated for a moment before saying,

“I understand. The Sorceress Research Society is creating Sorceresses, and no wonder they are so dramatically searching for you from Cardu to Nali.”

Carolina glanced at Fisher before her pain from the dislocated arm turned her face pale, but hearing Fisher’s words only deepened her confusion and suspicion.

“You’re not trying to make me create Sorceresses! So what do you want from me? I have no grievances with you! I just wanted to deal with the Sorceress Research Society trailing me; I only wanted to know a bit about Shivali! Twice now! The first time my leg was broken, and the second time you want to break my hand! Are you a sadistic pervert or something?”

Fisher raised his hand and patted her face, interrupting her furious outburst. He didn’t want to hear this guy ramble on any longer. His expression grew slightly colder as he signaled for her to be quiet.

“Now, I have caught you; you’d better be honest.” Fisher glanced at her face, extremely pale from pain, and then said, “I know you have an undying body, but it seems that your undying body is not perfect.”

Carolina bit her lip. Every time she revitalized her body, she would endure much more pain; and this pain couldn’t be alleviated by other medications. The Sorceress Research Society had previously attempted anesthesia and psychotropic drugs to relieve her suffering, but all were ineffective.

If she used the revitalization ability, she would be in unbearable pain.

Now that she was under this roof, she had to bow her head. Although Carolina’s gaze was still unfriendly, at least she no longer insisted on cursing.

“I’m quite interested in your traits, so I want to study you. Of course, I won’t let you do it for free. If I’m not mistaken, the Pink Pavilion’s protection of you is certainly expecting a reward, and that reward must be related to Shivali and very likely involves you doing certain tasks during Shivali’s visit to Nali.”

Carolina’s pupils widened in disbelief, but Fisher’s expression remained unchanged, seemingly certain of his speculation.

“How do you know?”

“Because you are too stupid.” Fisher shook his head without answering her question and continued to ask, “So tell me, what do they want you to do?”

Carolina opened her mouth, hesitated for a long time, and finally revealed,

“They want me to assassinate a member of the Shivali visiting group, so I wanted to know about their news.”

This sentence nearly made Fisher laugh because he was unsure whether to mock her for her stupidity or for her overconfidence.

The visit from Shivali had resulted from multiple negotiations and was of utmost importance to both parties; not just would those visiting be protected by Shivali’s people, but the Royal Guards of Nali would also protect them at all times.

When the time came, the beds the visiting group slept on would likely be made of magic. With the weak witch before him, she would probably be killed ten thousand times before even entering.

Even if she succeeded, she would face the terrifying hostility of two nations that far outstripped the Sorceress Research Society chasing after her. This was no joke; at that point, she’d probably be forced to become a pirate on the seas, not even knowing if any pirates would accept such a fool.

Fisher’s look at her was that of utter incredulity, further fueling Carolina’s anger. It was as if she had to prove herself; she sat up and said,

“Of course, I know the Pink Pavilion is playing me for a fool! I wouldn’t be so dumb as to assassinate Shivali’s people! I plan to escape while they’re busy with the assassination!”

“And what’s the plan?”

“….” Carolina opened her mouth, then defiantly replied, “I haven’t thought it out yet! Anyway, they haven’t come yet, right? I still have some time to think!”

Fisher sighed and raised a finger,

“Let’s make a deal: I’ll study you, and I will provide you protection, both from the Pink Pavilion and the Sorceress Research Society. I will guarantee your safety, and after everything is done, I’ll let you go free. How about it?”

Carolina bit her lip. She certainly did not trust Fisher, but with her not-so-smart brain, she really couldn’t think of a reason to refuse. Moreover, she was currently in his grasp, and it seemed this man truly was somewhat strong.

So, in the end, she timidly softened her attitude,

“Research, what do you want to do about that?”

Fisher stood up, turning his back to her as he took out the Supplement Handbook for Sub-Humans, preparing to record this “Undying Sorceress”. Of course, it was best to wait a moment longer, just to make sure this was indeed the one he was looking for in the prophecy.

“Probably a lot better than whatever you did in the Sorceress Research Society. It’s just recording some data.”

Carolina hesitated for a moment and eventually nodded, saying,

“Alright, I’ll agree to a re-introduction. I’m Carolina; what’s your name?”

“Fisher.”

Fisher slowly realized something was off. First, the name of the witch behind him sounded strange, almost like a male’s name. But most importantly, he had opened the Supplement Handbook for Sub-Humans, and now it did not show any objects that could be recorded for study!

He looked at the Supplement Handbook for Sub-Humans in disbelief, then suddenly turned around to face Carolina, properly called “Caro,” whose frightened expression from his terrifying gaze made him jump.

“You’re not a subhuman? Not even female?”

This was the only possibility! The research requirements for the Supplement Handbook for Sub-Humans were only two: one needed to be subhuman and female. Was there a possibility that this person before him did not meet either condition!?

First, he was not a subhuman; could he be something created by the Sorceress Research Society, just like Bart? Moreover, before being modified, he was a complete male!

Caro opened her mouth, her face flushing as she looked at her now alluring body and shamefully nodded,

“I am an artificial Sorceress created by the Sorceress Research Society. Before becoming a Sorceress, I was a male. They said that I am no different from other Sorceresses; I am the ‘most perfect creation.’ What’s wrong? Didn’t you say you were very interested in my traits?! What’s the difference?”

Fisher nearly reached out to slap her, but his face still showed no changes in expression. His eyes, however, grew colder as he withdrew the threader, looking at Caro lying on the bed. He turned his head, put on his coat, and prepared to leave.

“That’s enough; what I’m looking for is a real Sorceress. You’re no longer useful; you can leave.”

“Huh?!”

Caro angrily sat up, her hands weakly resting at her sides due to the dislocation of her arm. Her face turned red as she glared at that loutish Fisher, angrily cursing,

“Are you messing with me? You clearly said you wanted to study me! And now you say you can just leave?!”

“Remember to pay the room fee.”

Fisher had already put on his gentleman’s hat, completely ignoring her, preparing to open the door with a demeanor that indicated he was unaffected.

Just as he was about to leave, Carolina gritted her teeth and suddenly yelled at Fisher’s back,

“Aren’t you looking for that true Undying Sorceress? I have a lead on her!”

The tall gentleman’s figure suddenly came to a halt, and then his expressionless face turned around.

“Someone once tricked me with the same method a long time ago. All my patience was spent on her; I no longer have any extra patience to share with others. If you dare deceive me, you will face very wonderful consequences; I guarantee it.”

Outside the window, a Lark tilted its head, unsure if it had heard Fisher’s words.

A cold sweat broke out on Caro’s forehead, but she still determinedly nodded, seriously saying to Fisher,

“I promise I have leads on the true Sorceress. If you help me escape from the Pink Pavilion and the Sorceress Research Society, I will tell you everything.”

This is a century that glows with the brilliance of human civilization. This is a world where steam engines, magic, and demi-humans coexist. This is an indictment of crimes committed in the name of exploration. “The Crimson Dragon Queen will rise first, reducing all of humanity to ashes with her flames of fury.” “The mysterious Child of the Sea will summon massive waves to wash away the sins of mankind.” “The Sky God will leave the remnants of humanity with nowhere to hide, no refuge to seek.” “The Undying Witch will write their epitaphs with magic.” “And I… will write the next chapter of the new world.” ……Years later, after receiving an apocalyptic prophecy and a miraculous item known as the Demi-Human Girl Completion Handbook, Fischer hoped he would be remembered as: The pioneer of demi-human studies, the savior of human civilization, the dove of peace, and the messiah. And not as: The one who got chopped with a cleaver, the guy who got torn apart, or the messiah split into quarters.
