Chapter: Chapter 145
At some point, Xi Mengyao woke up. She overheard the conversation between Leticia and Evangeline. When the two empresses reached a consensus to erase her memory, she couldn’t hold back anymore.
She didn’t want to forget Evangeline. Even if they couldn’t be together, she didn’t want to forget the girl who saved her.
“Forgetting me is for the best, for both of us.” Evangeline whispered. She had almost no chance of returning alive, while Xi Mengyao had a bright future.
They were from different worlds. For her own sake and for Xi Mengyao’s, letting her forget her was the best choice.
For an ordinary person, that memory was too bizarre.
“But I don’t want to forget you. Even if you won’t come back, can’t you let me remember you in my heart?” Xi Mengyao grabbed Evangeline’s hand, her eyes filled with an intense emotion that Evangeline couldn’t bear to look at.
Bai Ling nudged Leticia with her elbow, asking the Demon King what to do with her eyes.
“What else can we do?” Leticia pinched her brow in distress. These two girls wouldn’t reach a conclusion. “You two chat slowly. Tell me your decision after you’ve unified your opinions.”
With that, she stood up, grabbed Bai Ling, and left the room.
Exiting the room and seeing the confusion and bewilderment on Bai Ling’s face, Leticia couldn’t help but tiptoe and lightly punch her.
“Why were you poking your nose into someone’s private space?”
“Curiosity,” Bai Ling mumbled.
“If you’re curious, then squat here and eavesdrop. I’m going back to organize my things,” Leticia rolled her eyes and prepared to leave without hesitation.
Bai Ling immediately gave up the idea of eavesdropping, knowing her curiosity couldn’t compare to Leticia’s, and followed Leticia back to the room downstairs.
When they had gone upstairs, a little guest had arrived at Leticia’s house. This little guest was now entangled with Leticia’s sister.
“Xiao Qi, are you leaving?” Bai Ya looked at Qi La, who appeared at a loss, with teary eyes. “Sister Qianqian, are you leaving too?”
“Ah, this, I… Sister, you explain. I can’t explain it clearly.” Qi La stammered, not knowing what to say. Seeing Leticia and Bai Ling return, she quickly shifted Bai Ya’s attention to Leticia.
Taking advantage of Bai Ya turning her head, Qi La quickly slipped into the study and locked the door.
Seeing her sister’s swift action, Leticia felt that her expression might not hold much longer.
But Bai Ya didn’t care. She ran to Leticia and asked the same question again.
“Yes, we’re moving and might not return to the central city afterward,” Leticia nodded.
Bai Ya’s tears immediately fell. She hugged Leticia and wailed, “Sister Qianqian, please don’t go!”
Leticia quickly looked to Bai Ling for help, but Bai Ling indicated that she had no way to deal with her own sister.
“She’s your sister, can’t you, as the elder sister, exert some effort?” Leticia mouthed.
“Xiao Ya’s opinion is my opinion,” Bai Ling replied righteously.
She didn’t want Leticia to leave, so she approved of Bai Ya’s actions.
If this could make Leticia stay, she even thought it was fine for Bai Ya to hug Leticia all day until her voice was hoarse.
“You freaking…” Leticia was about to curse, but then she remembered that she had to maintain her image in front of Bai Ya. “You just wait.”
After speaking, she reached out to stroke Bai Ya’s head and explained softly, “Xiao Ya, people have joy and sorrow, separation and reunion. This is something unavoidable for everyone. I avoided my responsibilities for many years, and now, I have to go back.”
“But Sister Qianqian said before that she was a bad person. Is Sister Qianqian going to be a bad person again?”
“That was just a metaphor. I’m actually a young lady, and my family now only has me as the person in charge. I can’t just leave everything to Xiao Qi and enjoy myself here, can I?” Leticia sighed, indicating that she also didn’t want to go back, but for her sister, she had to.
“Then, can’t you come back to see us? Or, we can go see you too.” Bai Ya looked up, revealing her little face, which was streaked with tears. “Can we?”
This question was well-asked. In fact, returning once a year, or inviting Bai Ya to visit the Demon Realm, were all fine.
But why was Leticia leaving? Wasn’t it to maintain distance from Bai Ling?
Meeting occasionally felt like it would break that distance.
However, Leticia couldn’t bear to refuse Bai Ya.
“If you’re not afraid, Xiao Ya, you can come visit me over there,” Leticia said, then changed the subject, “But this fellow Bai Ling cannot come.”
Bai Ya could, but Bai Ling couldn’t.
“As for where I live, when you want to visit me, ask your sister. She knows how to get to my place.”
“Huh? Why can’t Sister come?” Bai Ya was confused.
After receiving Leticia’s permission to visit, Bai Ya was no longer so sad. If she really missed Sister Qianqian and Xiao Qi someday, she would just go visit Sister Qianqian’s home.
But Sister couldn’t go, which Bai Ya didn’t quite understand.
Weren’t Sister and Sister Qianqian super good friends?
“For various unspeakable reasons, this lass cannot go,” Leticia was resolute. It was fine for Bai Ya to go, but she definitely wouldn’t see Bai Ling again.
It was better to forget each other than to cling to each other. They truly were strangers, walking on two paths that never intersected.
Not interfering with each other was the best choice.
Bai Ling would continue to enjoy her retirement, and she would return to the Demon Realm to show off.
Anyway, as long as Bai Ling was alive, this world wouldn’t fall into chaos. And that guy’s lifespan was probably not shorter than Leticia’s.
At least for the next hundred years, unless someone even more abnormal than Bai Ling appeared, the world’s landscape probably wouldn’t change much.
The only variable was the gods, but after getting to know them a bit more, Leticia’s worries about the gods were no longer as strong as they had been initially.
She had initially thought the gods were about to return and rule the world, but it turned out to be a false alarm. In reality, the gods were basically not a threat. The threat came from the people wielding the gods’ power.
But that threat was also likely to be… like this.
The members of the God Seat, how should I put it, they gave off a rather comical vibe. They didn’t look like villains at all.
…
After calming Bai Ya down, there wasn’t much left to do.
When Leticia turned off the light and got into bed, Qi La had already warmed the blanket, making it quite comfortable.
“Sister?” Qi La pulled her eye mask up a bit. “Did you finish playing games?”
“Mm, I sold some equipment and handed over my account to the guild leader.” Leticia nodded. There was no internet in the Demon Realm, so she couldn’t play her online games.
Therefore, she spent a lot of money buying many offline games to play when she was bored.
“Is Sister really planning to stay in the Demon Realm forever?” Qi La still didn’t quite believe it. Just a few days ago, her sister was clamoring to return to the human world, but now, after a few days, her sister had actually taken the initiative to propose returning to the Demon Realm.
This had truly surprised Qi La a little.
“After thinking about it, it’s better to go back,” Leticia rubbed her sister’s head. “Let’s sleep. We have to wake up early tomorrow.”
The departure date had been set for these few days. Although they didn’t need to pack their own luggage, Xue Er’s packing still made some noise.
It would be difficult to sleep well then.
“Mm, goodnight, Sister,” Qi La pulled her eye mask down and snuggled back into the blanket.
Leticia, however, turned sideways and closed her eyes.
Leticia fell asleep very quickly today, but she soon realized that she seemed to have arrived in a familiar place.
Flora’s divine domain.
Following the guidance of the purple light, Leticia indeed saw Flora waiting at the main entrance.
“Good evening, Flora,” she waved to Flora.
“Good evening. I apologize for bringing you here without your consent again,” Flora said politely, bowing slightly.
This Goddess of Desire was so polite that Leticia felt a little embarrassed.
“It’s alright, it’s alright. Flora, what are you looking for me for this time…”
“Please come in and have a seat. There’s another guest here today,” Flora said with a smile, inviting Leticia in.
This time, Leticia didn’t hesitate much. She opened the manor gate in front of Flora and walked into the manor.
Following Flora to a small pavilion behind the manor, Leticia saw a green-haired girl drinking tea.
The girl looked only around ten years old, wearing a somewhat revealing semi-transparent dress. Her hair was rather long; if not for being held up by some unknown force, it could probably be used as a mop.
“Mm, who is this?” Leticia asked.
“Qing, the God of Nature and Life. She’s a good friend I made just these past two days.” Flora took Leticia’s hand and led her into the pavilion.
“You’re here?” the green-haired girl glanced at Leticia. “You must be the girl Flora told me about. Your mental strength is quite good.”
This god’s attitude was not as good as Flora’s.
However, Leticia felt that this god was more like a normal god. Flora was too easy to get along with, giving off an unrealistic feeling.
This green-haired girl was very real to the point of being slightly annoying.
“Good evening, Miss Qing,” Leticia said with a smile to Qing.
The girl responded softly and then lowered her head to continue drinking tea.
The atmosphere became a bit awkward, but fortunately, Flora clapped her hands and announced the reason she had invited Leticia.
“Evangeline has developed strong desires, and thanks to that, my abilities have strengthened somewhat.” Flora spread her hands, and a necklace solidified in her hand. “All of this is thanks to you, Leticia, so please accept this gift.”
“Desires?” Leticia took the necklace. Flora’s gifts were quite effective, and she had no reason to refuse.
That umbrella had shown strong performance in defending against mental attacks, so this necklace was bound to have something extraordinary about it. There was no need to refuse.
Could there be any problems?
Leticia believed not. Flora had already gained the trust of the Demon King’s daughter. Once she trusted someone, Leticia wouldn’t doubt her again.
If you don’t trust someone, don’t use them; if you use them, don’t doubt them. That was her habit.
“Yes, her inner desires are growing stronger,” Flora nodded. “Before, she only wanted to escape. But now, she has many desires, wanting to get revenge on the elves, and also wanting… to have a relationship.”
“Cough, cough, cough, Evangeline has actually fallen in love?” Leticia immediately coughed. “The progress isn’t that fast, is it?”
Evangeline had been so rational just this afternoon. Could she have been acting?
Qing’s face turned slightly red, as if she had thought of something.
Flora placed her hand over her mouth and whispered, “Uh, in short, it’s a bit fast.”
Originally, Evangeline didn’t have such intense desires. But after Leticia left with Bai Ling this afternoon, a small friction occurred between Xi Mengyao and Evangeline.
This small friction made Evangeline, who had previously thought she had no feelings, discover that she still had feelings.
She now had a new goal: to try to preserve her own life while causing trouble, and then return to find Xi Mengyao after the trouble was over.
Ah, right. Xi Mengyao, although a bit bold, hadn’t reached that level of boldness yet.
She had simply used physical means to shut the empress’s mouth after being unable to argue with Evangeline and let the empress know her feelings.
Under such intense pressure, Evangeline, who could still rationalize by telling herself she shouldn’t be doing this, couldn’t hold on any longer.
She finally understood why lovers crossing different species appeared, because when love arrived, everything else became so insignificant.
If she hadn’t retained some reason and known her primary task, Evangeline might have directly abandoned her mission and gotten together with Xi Mengyao.
Alas, love.
Such intense desires had directly elevated Flora’s usable power by a notch, which was a good thing.
“The relationships between girls nowadays are truly hard for me to imagine,” the green-haired loli, who was dressed rather imaginatively, sighed pretend-oldly.
Oh, she was probably actually old.
A thousand-year-old loli?
“Your gaze is very rude. As if you’re that much more mature than me,” Qing glared at Leticia fiercely.
What right did this black-haired loli have to look at her like that? Was there that much of a difference in their body types?
No, her own chest was still a tiny bit bigger than this lass’s.
“Ahem, height is only a little bit higher.”
“You disrespectful being, don’t you know gods have bad tempers?”
