Chapter: Chapter 181
“The way it appeared was terrifying, but its combat power doesn’t seem as formidable as its appearance.”
The battle ended quickly, so quickly that even Leticia doubted if her strength had suddenly skyrocketed recently.
At first glance, this monster looked like a very difficult BOSS from a game, but she didn’t expect its actual combat power to be so weak.
However, wasn’t the Demon King usually the big boss in games? But Miss Demon King didn’t seem to have any awareness of being a regular big boss in a game.
The monster, pinned to the ground and immobilized by the spikes summoned by Leticia, let out a scream. It wanted to resist and tear the black-haired girl in front of it to shreds, but its strength was too low.
“She can’t control the divine power within her. I’ve already cleaned up those tentacles,” Sasha said, walking over while holding a book emitting a golden glow. She had just gone to clear out the black tentacles that had emerged from the shadow.
Although her intuition told her these things were harmless, having had a mishap just a few days ago, she deemed it wise to be cautious.
After all, cleaning them up didn’t require much effort, and it was better to clean them now than to regret it later.
“Is this thing human or something else?” Leticia squatted in front of the monster, observing it with some curiosity.
“It was probably human before, but now, it’s likely lost its sanity and become a true monster,” Sasha mused, resting her chin on her hand.
“I haven’t lost my sanity!” an angry voice echoed in the room.
This monster, it seemed, could communicate.
Leticia raised an eyebrow. If it could communicate, things would be easier. “What are you, and why are you here?”
“How should I know what I am?” the monster replied. “Ever since I gained consciousness, I’ve been holed up in that dark place, listening to those nagging women. I’d like to know what I am.”
Uh oh, Leticia started to ponder how to handle this monster. Usually, she would incinerate anything that lowered the overall aesthetic of the Demon Realm.
However, this monster had displayed such high intelligence, even being able to communicate with her. It seemed like a waste to simply eliminate such a special existence.
At the very least, she should let the scholars of the Demon Realm study it thoroughly before getting rid of it.
“Sher, if you were to confront it, could you deal with this monster?” Leticia turned and whispered into Sher’s ear.
She needed to evaluate the monster’s strength. If its strength posed no threat, then bringing it out for research would be fine.
But if only she herself could subdue it in the entire Demon Realm, then Leticia felt that even a corpse would have sufficient research value.
Sher’s reply would determine the monster’s fate, and her assessment of the monster’s strength was: “Very weak. A few well-trained mages could subdue it.”
In that case, it would be better to bring it out for research.
Leticia pulled out the spikes that were immobilizing the monster’s limbs. “Can you become smaller? With your current size, you probably won’t be able to get out through the passage.”
Hearing Leticia’s words, the monster’s three red eyes rolled around. “I’ll try.”
Saying that, it walked towards the cocoon that had already been torn open.
“Don’t try anything funny.” Leticia twitched her fingers, and a light sword appeared in front of the monster, its tip pointed at its head.
“Changing my form requires energy. I need to eat that cocoon to have enough energy.”
“Magic power won’t work?” Leticia asked.
“Magic power? What is that?” the monster inquired, confused. It only knew that there was abundant energy within that bloody cocoon.
Huh? Does this monster truly know nothing?
Leticia, somewhat speechless, tossed a ball of magic power at the monster. “See if this works for you.”
The monster hastily cupped the cloud-like magic power thrown by Leticia. The moment it came into contact with the magic power, its big eyes lit up. “Can I use this to shape my body?”
Shape its body with magic power?
“Uh, can’t you mimic?”
“I don’t know what mimicry is, but my intuition tells me that using this to shape my body is better than using the energy from the cocoon,” the monster replied.
“Then try it,” Leticia tossed some more magic power to the monster. “By the way, if you’re a creature of the Demon Realm, you should be able to obtain magic power by burning your blood.”
The monster wouldn’t burn blood, and it originally had no magic power within it. Even if it did, it wouldn’t be able to gain much magic power.
However, the magic power Leticia threw at it was enough for it to create a new, more presentable body.
As all the magic power was absorbed into its body, the monster’s body shriveled up, much like a deflated inflatable doll.
“A new life is being born… This monster is very special.” Sasha stared at the monster’s skin and whispered, “If I’m not mistaken, that cocoon was actually made of flesh and blood, and the material that make up this monster’s body is also the flesh and blood that has disappeared from those skeletons.”
“Are you saying this monster devoured those people?”
“No, to be precise, those people’s corpses gave birth to this monster.” Sasha shook her head. She was a bit confused about how this monster was born, but she could confirm one thing: this monster was definitely not born through normal means.
“Then what are those nagging women it mentioned?” Leticia pressed.
Sasha shrugged, indicating she didn’t know. “Perhaps they are the lingering resentment of the dead?”
“Souls? I thought this thing was just a legend.”
“It can’t be considered a legend, can it? After all, with gods and magic existing in our world, souls existing is also a common occurrence. Can’t the shamans of the beastkin tribes cast spells that allow the dead to continue moving?” Sasha explained. “That sort of spell likely involves stuffing souls into corpses and forcibly driving the bodies to continue fighting.”
As they were speaking, a small bulge suddenly appeared within the monster’s withered body, and then a cute voice came from within.
“Let me out quickly!”
Leticia and Sasha exchanged glances, seeing surprise in each other’s eyes.
This voice was heavenly compared to the previous raspy one.
“Is that monster a girl?” Leticia muttered, and with a slight flick of her finger, she used wind magic to cut an opening in the monster’s skin.
Then, a familiar scene unfolded, except this time, the hand that emerged from the opening looked much more beautiful.
…
“You went down there and only brought back a little girl?” Bai Ling asked unhappily, looking at the little girl cowering behind Leticia with a cold gaze.
“Are you blaming me for this? Besides, don’t let her cute appearance fool you. Before, her ‘beauty’ could only be described by one word: disastrous.” Leticia spread her hands, indicating that one shouldn’t judge a book by its cover. Who would have thought this dewy girl was such a terrifying monster before?
The girl looked timidly at Bai Ling, sensing a dangerous aura from her. This person was definitely not to be provoked.
“Master…” She tugged at Leticia’s clothes and whispered.
As soon as she said that, everyone else, except for the girls who had been underground, widened their eyes.
Bai Ling’s reaction was the most intense.
“You have this kind of hobby?!”
“Damn it, don’t get the wrong idea!” Leticia knew exactly what Bai Ling was implying and immediately jumped up, punching Bai Ling on the head. “This is a perfectly legitimate master-servant relationship!”
A master-servant relationship still sounded improper. Moreover, with such a cute little girl as the servant, Bai Ling’s mind immediately went to certain master-servant pairings in those questionable books.
The little maid, demanded by her master, was reluctant but unable to resist, only able to obediently follow her master’s requests with teary eyes.
Wow, is Leticia thinking of doing exactly that?
“Besides, Sher never called you Master.”
Sher and Leticia had a master-servant relationship, and this shouldn’t be a topic of discussion.
But after spending so much time together, Sher had never called Leticia Master. She called her Empress in private and Miss in front of Bai Ya, but never Master.
“Sher is a maid, and this, well, essentially, she’s like a pet.” Leticia once again uttered words that could shock everyone.
“And you still say this is a proper master-servant relationship?!” Bai Ling had already drawn her sword, preparing to strike the trembling pet.
“Hey, why isn’t it proper?” Leticia retorted.
“Where is it proper?” Not only Bai Ling, but all the other girls thought the same.
This included Qi La, who had returned from the Demon King’s palace after finishing her work for the day.
Calling such a cute girl a pet, it was truly unreasonable not to think those girls were having wicked thoughts.
Oh, no, there was one person who wasn’t having wicked thoughts.
Mo Zili stared intently at the girl behind Leticia, feeling her bloodline urging her to approach the girl.
The girl gave her a very strange feeling. They seemed to be connected by blood, yet also seemed to have no connection at all.
Meanwhile, Leticia spent some time explaining the situation. Actually, it was quite simple: the magic power the girl used to create her body came from Leticia, and then, somewhere along the line, something went wrong, and the girl accidentally placed a contract on herself.
Yes, it was a unilateral master-servant contract.
Such a contract couldn’t be used between two demons; it could only be applied when one was a demon and the other was another creature.
Furthermore, the demon here could only be the master. Perhaps the creator of this contract magic wanted to prevent it from being used against demons.
Being contracted as a servant meant that this girl was not a demon. Well, Leticia hadn’t thought of this thing as a demon at first anyway.
“Besides, Master is only the master of this body. My soul is still free,” the girl stated righteously.
Hmm, why did those words sound so strange?
“Only this body, shaped by my magic power, is contracted to me. Her soul has not entered into a contract with me,” Leticia added.
Although it was a bit difficult to understand, that was the reality. This girl, in essence, was a soul that could exist in the world. She absorbed various energies to change her body, and based on the intensity of the absorbed energy, her own strength would fluctuate considerably.
For example, in her initial monster form, although she looked terrifying, in terms of actual combat, the current her could pin the monster-form her to the ground with one hand.
Because her current body was shaped by Leticia’s magic power, which was much more potent than that foul blood energy.
“I see.” Bai Ling touched her chin and nodded. It seemed the crisis of her being cuckolded had been averted.
What a relief.
“Mmm, there’s a very familiar scent here.” After realizing the crisis had passed, the girl gradually became more lively. She sniffed the air and muttered softly.
Her gaze lingered on the girls present for a moment, finally locking onto Mo Zili. The girl trotted over to the young lady and asked with curiosity, “Do you have any siblings?”
She felt that her first body, or perhaps the material that made up the large cocoon, contained relatives of Mo Zili.
“I don’t know. I came to the Demon Realm to find my family,” Mo Zili shook her head. She also felt that there was a part of this girl connected to her by blood, but she was certain that this girl was not her relative.
“Perhaps she has your relatives on her,” Leticia also had this thought. Although the girl’s current body was shaped by her magic power, the materials used were still the original ones.
This meant that among the skeletons in the basement, there were relatives of Mo Zili.
“If that’s the case, we might have found your relatives, Little Mo,” Leticia pointed to the ground and made a small joke, “Although it’s impossible to tell which skeleton is your relative, why don’t you just consider them all as your relatives?”
“Miss Qianqian, please stop joking!” Mo Zili said helplessly.
She didn’t feel angry being teased like this. She had never seen her family since she was born, so she had no feelings for them.
The only reason she wanted to find her family was because her teacher told her to find them. Now that she knew her teacher wasn’t a good person, she cared even less about finding her family.
Anyway, her teacher didn’t bring her to the Demon Realm to find her family. Perhaps, as the Demon King had said, her teacher brought her here to offer her to the gods so that the gods could fulfill her teacher’s wishes.
“I’m not joking. There might really be your relatives in the basement.”
“But they’re already dead!”
