Chapter: Chapter 25
“My little genius, can’t you even open such a simple mechanism?” Leticia was a bit speechless when she saw the mechanism that had stumped Bai Ling.
This kind of mechanism was considered the simplest in the game. As long as you put in a little thought, basically even a fool could figure it out.
However, Bai Ling couldn’t.
It wasn’t that she was pretending not to be able to solve it, but that she genuinely couldn’t.
“So that’s how it is, what an interesting design.” Bai Ling was sitting next to Leticia, staring intently at the fast-moving character on the screen.
Leticia shifted her body slightly to the side, feeling a little uncomfortable. Bai Ling was a bit too close, and she could even smell the subtle, elegant fragrance emanating from her.
It smelled very good, making her feel an irresistible urge.
This guy… she was really annoying.
“And what about this? Why can’t I complete this quest?” Bai Ling, unaware of this, moved even closer to Leticia to tell her what else she didn’t understand.
In an instant, Leticia’s heart started pounding.
“Hmm? Your heart is beating very fast.” Bai Ling’s ears were very sharp, and Leticia’s abnormality did not escape her hearing.
“Hoo, it’s nothing. Your quest NPC has been taken by another quest… Tsk, why did you accept so many quests?” Quickly covering up her abnormality, Leticia looked at the long string of quests in the list and said with a frown.
“The guild leader took me to accept them before she logged off. She said doing quests was the fastest way to level up,” Bai Ling explained.
Of course, everyone understood the real reason: Bai Ling had deliberately created this mess.
Although she genuinely couldn’t do it, the guild leader hadn’t abandoned her after just a short while as she claimed.
In fact, Bai Ling had been following the guild leader all over the map all night yesterday. The guild leader had told her about some of the difficult points she knew, enough to keep Leticia busy for over an hour with these questions.
Spending over an hour to close the distance, although a bit difficult, was still acceptable.
Leticia’s heart was quite conflicted. Bai Ling’s goal was to make Leticia gradually let go of her resistance and accept her presence in Leticia’s life.
However, Bai Ling’s plan was only halfway through when it was interrupted by the sudden ringing of the phone.
“Strange…” Bai Ling took out her phone, knowing that not many people had her phone number, and those who did wouldn’t call her unless it was something important.
Had something happened?
The number displayed on the phone was unfamiliar to her, which made Bai Ling even more suspicious.
“What’s wrong? Answer it.” Leticia looked at Bai Ling, wondering why the girl was staring blankly at her phone screen.
“I don’t know who’s calling me,” Bai Ling said, gently pressing the answer button and then turning on the speakerphone.
“My dear aunt, are you free?” A hearty female voice came from the phone.
Bai Ling showed a look of realization. So it was her.
“Yes.”
“Boss Sang said she was afraid you were bored and specially found you some work.” Judging by the voice, the woman on the other end seemed quite excited.
“Work?” Bai Ling’s hand unconsciously rested on her waist. “When and where?”
“Cough, cough, cough, it’s not that serious.” Bai Ling’s brief words caused the woman to cough a few times. “It’s not for you to go and kill people, but for you to help train the new recruits.”
Train?
Bai Ling’s expression was a bit conflicted. She was good at killing people, but training… she knew nothing about it.
“I’m not good at training others.” She didn’t dislike admitting her shortcomings.
“When I say training, it’s more like actual combat,” the woman explained her plan in detail. “There are a few troublemakers who have recently joined the Hero Association. Because they are young and strong, they’ve become a bit arrogant.”
“You know those old guys in the association, they are quite unhappy with these little brats, so they are planning to put these little brats in their place.”
“But they can’t really let them fight heinous criminals. If they get injured somewhere, those old guys would be heartbroken.”
“So, after much deliberation, they found us and wanted us to send a few capable individuals to teach those brats a lesson. As it happened, Senior Sang heard that you were quite free and took this job.”
After hearing the whole story, a hint of nostalgia flashed in Bai Ling’s eyes. The seniors in the association were still as caring as ever.
When she first joined the Hero Association, she seemed to have received special attention from these seniors, though it wasn’t in the form of a fight, but rather psychological counseling.
Although the effect wasn’t great, at least Bai Ling felt their good intentions.
“So, as long as they aren’t killed, right?”
“Don’t cripple them either. Just teach them a lesson, let them know that there are always people better than them, and that their current strength can’t even make a ripple in the central city.”
