Chapter: Chapter 35
“I’ve troubled you for two days in a row, Xiao Ya.” In the setting sun, a black-haired girl said with a smile to another black-haired girl beside her.
Bai Ya smiled shyly, “Xiao Qi, you just transferred, and the teacher asked me to take good care of you. This is what I should do.”
On Monday, a transfer student came to Bai Ya’s class. Since Bai Ya lived closer to the transfer student’s home, she was entrusted by the teacher to take care of her.
This girl named Su Qi had left a good impression on Bai Ya in their interactions these past few days, otherwise Bai Ya wouldn’t have invited Su Qi over to her house as a guest.
“Sister wasn’t home yesterday, I don’t believe she’ll be absent today either,” Bai Ya said indignantly. She was determined to introduce Xiao Qi to her sister so her sister could meet her friend.
Su Qi put her hands in her pockets and couldn’t help but chuckle at Bai Ya’s muttering, “Actually, there’s no need to be in such a hurry, right?”
“Sister always says I don’t study well and don’t even have friends at school. Now that I have a friend, let’s see what she can say,” Bai Ya said animatedly. Her sister’s words a few days ago had made the little girl quite unconvinced.
Look, she had made a good friend now and could shame her sister.
“Haha, so that’s how it is…” Su Qi’s expression was starting to crack. Bai Ya was truly a bit childish.
“Hmph, a good girl like you, Xiao Qi, my sister definitely won’t be able to say anything. Oh right, after meeting my sister, I’ll take you to see Qian Qian Jie.” Bai Ya became more excited as she spoke, “Qian Qian Jie even spoke up for my sister before. They are both bad people.”
As they spoke, they had already reached the entrance of the apartment building where Bai Ya lived. Bai Ya took out her access card and swiped it on the main door. With a crisp ‘beep,’ the glass door slowly opened.
Taking the elevator to their sixth-floor apartment, Bai Ya excitedly opened the room door again.
“Sister, I brought a friend back!” The same line as yesterday, but this time, there was finally someone in the living room.
Bai Ling was holding the book that Leticia had described as useless, carefully flipping through its pages. Hearing her sister’s voice, she looked up in the direction of the sound.
“Welcome… Hmm?” Bai Ling narrowed her eyes. The girl behind her sister… seemed to have used some kind of appearance-altering magic.
Magic… Is this girl not human?
Although there were already quite a few non-human beings in the human world, Bai Ling was still a little surprised to find a non-human presence by her sister’s side.
“Sister, her name is Su Qi, my new good friend,” Bai Ya said, pulling Su Qi in front of Bai Ling and introducing her proudly.
“Mm, Su Qi… Nice to meet you.” Bai Ling unconsciously closed the book in her hand, placing it face down on the table. “I didn’t expect Xiao Ya to make such good friends.”
“What are you saying, sister? As long as I want to make friends, they’ll come in droves,” Bai Ya said confidently. “Sister, you and Xiao Qi sit here first, I’ll go prepare dinner.”
She had already bought some groceries on her way home, so they could eat at home today.
“Okay.” Bai Ling nodded, then continued to stare at Su Qi’s face.
This disguise magic was quite profound; she might need some time to see through the girl’s true appearance.
Su Qi sat next to Bai Ling somewhat stiffly. Bai Ya’s sister gave a completely different impression from Bai Ya.
If Bai Ya was like a babbling mountain stream, Bai Ling was like the never-melting ice on the Tianshan Mountains.
Cold, so cold that anyone who approached her couldn’t help but tremble.
Su Qi’s intuition even told her that she might have already been seen through by this white-haired girl.
“You… are called Su Qi?” Bai Ling spoke after observing Su Qi for a long time. “Xiao Ya has good judgment.”
Su Qi’s expression gradually became serious. She didn’t know if Bai Ling’s words had a hidden meaning, but judging from the impression the girl gave, Su Qi believed that Bai Ling’s statement implied something else.
“Yes, Xiao Ya is a very good girl, and I like her very much,” Su Qi could only answer Bai Ling’s question in a more reserved way.
“Don’t be so nervous, I don’t eat people.” Bai Ling tried her best to put on a friendly expression, but due to certain issues, her expression… became a little “kindly intimidating.”
This made Su Qi stiffen even more. She was already considering how to escape.
This white-haired girl is so scary, even scarier than my sister used to be.
“However, as an elder sister, I need to vet the people around my sister.” Bai Ling rubbed her face, forcing the “kindly intimidating” expression back into her usual poker face. “Miss Su Qi, who is not human, are you approaching Xiao Ya with ulterior motives?”
“Regarding this, I can assure you that I have no ill intentions toward Bai Ya.”
