Chapter: Chapter 396
Between Ledicia, whom she knew thoroughly, and the mysterious individual whose identity she didn’t even know, it was a no-brainer who Bai Ling would trust.
“They are gods, they are enemies!” the voice rebuked.
“Then how do I know you’re not an enemy? I’m more suspicious of you than them,” Bai Ling responded, showing no favorable expression to the voice.
How did Senior Sang and the others manage to create this thing?
“How dare you collude with gods! I understand, you are also a servant of the gods!” Seemingly infuriated by Bai Ling’s answer, the voice carried a hint of obvious annoyance.
“In that case, you shall die with them!”
An invisible fluctuation erupted from the crystal lotus, spreading outward at an extremely rapid speed, but seemingly without any lethal ability.
However, soon Ledicia realized something was wrong. In her perception, something was flying towards them rapidly.
Accompanied by the crisp sound of shattering glass, the top floor of the building, already severely damaged in the battle between Bai Ling and the black fog, could no longer withstand it. The wind and rain from the outside world surged in, causing those present to sway unsteadily.
“Is that… those metal plates?” Upon seeing what was flying towards them, Ledicia’s confusion deepened. What flew over were the very metals that could suppress divine power.
Could this lotus control these metals?
“This is bad, there are quite a few metal plates placed in the building!” Bai Ling immediately realized the gravity of the situation. Quite a few metal plates produced by the machinery where the crystal lotus was placed had been distributed throughout the building. If the crystal lotus could summon all these metals, it would indeed be a disaster.
What happened next confirmed Bai Ling’s guess. A large number of metal plates flew out from various parts of the building and, under the manipulation of the crystal lotus, arrived at the top floor.
The metal plates, which looked very sturdy, began to deform under the lotus’s control. Fierce-looking weapons were formed, targeting the three gods present, while Bai Ling seemed to be excluded from the attack.
It claimed they would die together, but in action, it ignored Bai Ling. Perhaps the built-in program of the crystal lotus did not allow it to attack humans.
“This is really bad.” Ledicia’s mouth twitched. Seeing a scene akin to someone opening a treasure vault, she felt a throbbing headache.
“Why don’t we just slip away? It seems we can’t win this round,” Yin whispered to Ledicia, suggesting.
The fluctuation emitted by the lotus had an excessively strong suppressive effect on gods, and this fluctuation reminded Yin of some unpleasant past experiences.
She recalled that she was sealed into a divine artifact in a similar manner, though it wasn’t this lotus but a giant, glowing figure that had done the deed.
Was this lotus a creation of that entity? Yin couldn’t figure it out. She only knew one thing: they definitely couldn’t defeat this lotus at this moment.
Their compatibility was too poor; it was impossible to fight. The opponent was a weapon specifically designed to target gods.
“The premise is whether we can escape,” Ledicia also wanted to escape, but could they?
Yin and the black fog were both clones. If they perished here, it wouldn’t be a big problem. However, she, as her true body, didn’t dare to gamble whether her supposed immortality could save her life.
Boom!
A massive metal hammer struck the precarious barrier, completely shattering the already faltering shield. The crystal lotus seemed intent on first destroying the barrier and machinery that restricted its movement.
Of course, while breaking these restrictions, it didn’t forget to cause trouble for Ledicia and the others. Numerous metal weapons were hurled at the gods, but these purely physical attacks didn’t pose much of a threat to Ledicia.
She was weakened, but not completely turned into an ordinary person. Withstanding the impact of a few large iron blocks was not an issue for her.
“Isn’t there any way to stop it from destroying the barrier? I feel like we’re doomed once this thing gets out,” Ledicia shouted to her teammates while holding up her shield.
“I can’t scratch it,” Yin shrugged.
“I can’t stop it,” Black Fog stated plainly that her attacks couldn’t affect the lotus’s movements.
“Cutting it won’t help either,” Bai Ling had tried. The hardness of those metals wasn’t that high, but cutting them in half had no effect whatsoever.
Unless they could be physically destroyed, even crushing them into powder would allow the crystal lotus to manipulate them for attacks.
Alright, all hope was truly lost.
“So, didn’t your Divine Seats leave any contingency plans? You didn’t just come here to make a cameo appearance, did you?” Ledicia glared at the black fog and asked.
It was already an extraordinary performance for the black fog to hold off Bai Ling. Destroying the lotus should have been the task of the shadow creatures, but the shadow creatures couldn’t possibly rely on their own power to destroy the lotus, could they?
For such important mission objectives, shouldn’t highly destructive individuals be assigned? And these shadow creatures had insufficient lethality themselves.
“My mission is to hold off the strongest one. Other matters are not my concern!” Black Fog immediately retorted. Her mission directive was only to hold off the strongest, the Sword Saint. Destroying the barrier and the lotus were not within her mission scope.
Hearing Black Fog’s words, Yin seemed to recall something. She glanced at the laptop she had been holding, “Um, can I ask what this image represents?”
“What image?” Ledicia leaned over to look at Yin’s screen, “This looks like some kind of map? This red dot is moving rapidly, and I’m not sure about the blue dot.”
“This looks like a world map. The blue dot should be around Central City,” Bai Ling also leaned over to take a look. She knew more than Ledicia; at least she recognized it as a world map. “Zoom in, zoom in more, um, this place seems to be… right here?”
Looking at the clear lettering of “Government Building” below the blue dot’s location, everyone present fell silent.
That red dot was flying towards them. Perhaps this was the Divine Seat’s contingency plan?
“However… isn’t this speed a bit too fast?!” Ledicia muttered to herself, watching the red dot rapidly approaching on the screen.
This speed was faster than a hypersonic missile. Had the Divine Seat actually thrown a Tsar Bomba this way?
“I say, could this be a nuclear bomb or something?” Ledicia looked at the black fog, her eyes wide with question marks.
If it really was a nuclear bomb, then the best course of action for them would be to quickly escape before this thing arrived. Ledicia didn’t know if the lotus could withstand a nuclear explosion, but she knew that in her current state, she absolutely couldn’t.
The child was still young and didn’t want to lose her first life.
“I think the possibility is slim, or rather, there is no possibility at all,” Black Fog subconsciously denied. She knew what nuclear bombs were, and while the Divine Seat did have advanced technology, it wasn’t to this absurd extent. “I think it’s more likely to be an attack from a fellow kin.”
“But such a fast flight speed… Wait, Bai, have you thought of anything?” Ledicia suddenly recalled the recent interception battle. In that battle, the Divine Seat had deployed entirely unmanned mechanical units, and in the final moments, the long spear that flew from beyond the heavens was cut down by Bai Ling’s sword light.
If it was that long spear, it could reach this speed, and its destructive power would be guaranteed!
“Are you referring to that spear from before?” Bai Ling clearly remembered the events from not long ago. After all, it had only been a short time, and there weren’t many events related to the Divine Seat during this period, making it impossible to forget such a thing.
“That spear had immense power. If I hadn’t hit its weak point, it would have been very difficult to defeat it head-on.”
Receiving Bai Ling’s acknowledgment made the spear’s power quite credible.
Now, the only problem was that the spear was also a creation of a god. Upon entering the vicinity of the crystal lotus, it would also be affected by the power-weakening effect. After being weakened, how much of its power would remain was an unknown.
This question was quickly resolved. Perhaps the information provided by Ledicia and Bai Ling made Black Fog recall something, and her tone became increasingly strange. “So it was that person. If it’s her, then the influence she receives is indeed much lower than ours.”
“Speak human language! We don’t have time for riddles!” Faced with this inappropriate puzzling behavior, Ledicia criticized without hesitation. “Don’t you see what time it is? Do you have time to play guessing games?”
Speak quickly, don’t be cryptic and waste everyone’s time!
“Cough, cough. You basically don’t need to worry about the destructive power. If I’m not mistaken, the one who unleashed this attack should be that person, P. While that person might not be good in other aspects, when it comes to attack power, she is undoubtedly the strongest among us.” Black Fog immediately gave up on riddles and revealed all her intelligence. “Moreover, this kind of simple weakening spell has very little effect on her.”
Black Fog spoke quickly, but her meaning was still understandable. The situation was simple: the god P was skilled in physical damage, not in dealing with trivial matters. If you can weaken the power of gods, but this god picks up a mountain and smashes it over here, can this lotus withstand it?
You can’t say, “This mountain was thrown by a god, so my damage taken is reduced by 90%.”
This world isn’t that idealistic!
“I’m not clear about the range of this lotus’s weakening effect, but I feel that it takes only a few seconds for P’s spear to travel this distance, and these few seconds won’t consume much destructive power,” Black Fog made her judgment. Even an iron rod striking at this speed would be formidable, let alone P’s weapons which were basically custom-made by the Divine Seat for special missions.
For example, the turtle shell that smashed Yin earlier, P used a weapon specialized in shield penetration, and a single spear shattered Yin’s spatial barrier.
“Okay, so we now have a trump card. The next step is to figure out how to make that thing stand still, expose its core, and then use its core to take the blow of this spear,” Ledicia nodded with satisfaction. At least the most troublesome issue had been resolved.
That crystal lotus looked very tough. Currently, among those present, only Bai Ling remained combat-capable. But even if Ledicia had great faith in Miss Bai’s sky-high attack power, she still couldn’t believe Bai Ling could hack through that lotus with a single sword.
And now, the Divine Seat’s external support was on its way. As long as they could find a way to lure the crystal lotus to expose its true form before the attack arrived, they might be able to eliminate this thing effortlessly. How great would that be?
However, achieving this condition was quite difficult. Looking at its control over metals, if it detected the spear’s surprise attack, a few seconds of reaction time would be enough for it to take some defensive actions to reduce the destructive power.
If this spear couldn’t destroy the lotus, things would become dire.
Therefore, it was necessary to minimize the lotus’s reaction time, preferably to zero.
Was there a way to achieve such an effect?
Naturally, there was. “Mirror Space-Time, create a mirror space-time that corresponds to this location, and then you and the crystal lotus will battle in the mirror space-time. When the spear reaches the lotus’s position, I will open a spatial channel and let the spear pass through the channel. That way, the opponent’s reaction time will be almost zero!”
Yin almost immediately came up with the solution, but she clearly had more to say. “The only problem is that my current state is not enough to support me in casting advanced spells like Mirror Space-Time, unless someone can act as a battery to recharge me.”
Saying so, Yin couldn’t help but glance at the black fog, her meaning clear: to complete this plan, this lump of black fog had to honestly act as a battery.
“Why me? Can’t others?” Black Fog instinctively retorted.
Then she saw Yin’s look of looking at an idiot. “You are just a clone here, it’s fine if the clone’s power is drained. Besides, she and I are teammates, I can’t draw her energy, can I?”
Black Fog looked at Yin, then at Ledicia. Although she didn’t want to admit it, Yin’s words actually made some sense.
There was no way, Bai Ling was just a mortal, her energy system was incompatible with theirs as gods. Ledicia was Yin’s teammate, so there was only her, the big scapegoat, left to be the battery.
