“Phew, finally! We’ve met elves with pointy ears. Just how far away did Silver leave us?” Leticia sighed in relief, seeing the elves ahead.
“We went in the opposite direction for a while, and with the wasted time, Silver’s landing spot… was actually quite far off.” Even Inphino couldn’t make excuses for Silver. The Goddess of Space had truly committed a crime in choosing their landing spot.
If Leticia and the others hadn’t forcefully barged into an Innocent Tiger Girl’s home to ask for directions, they probably would have been lost for a very, very long time before finding the elves.
Fortunately, they found the elves now.
“Hey, little girl over there, could you come here for a moment?” Leticia called out loudly to a small elf sitting on a tree, watching them curiously.
The small elf, with long, emerald-green hair, pointed at herself, a hint of confusion in her eyes.
“Yes, it’s you. Stop looking and come here, cute little girl!” Leticia waved to the cute little elf again.
The elf wasn’t shy and gracefully jumped down from the tree, landing in front of the three of them. She crossed her arms and asked, “You’re not elves, are you? You’re humans?”
Demons and humans looked almost identical, so it was normal for the little elf to mistake them.
As for Inphino and Wu, well, gods didn’t have a specific template. However, Wu’s current appearance was based on the body Leticia had shaped for her before, so she looked more human.
The biggest difference between her and humans was probably the golden feather hair ornaments on the sides of her head. They looked like hair ornaments, but they were actually Wu’s head feathers, and pulling them would turn Wu into a terrifying demon king.
“Yes, we are humans.” Demons didn’t have a good reputation among the elves, so it wasn’t a bad thing to blend in as humans. Leticia, always a pragmatist, nodded without shame, deceiving the naive elf girl.
But clearly, the elves’ attitude towards humans wasn’t great either, or rather, their attitude towards other races was like this for all these long-eared people – very arrogant, making people very uncomfortable.
“Speak, what do you want from our elf race? Are you here to cause trouble?” The little elf looked up, trying to look down on Leticia and the others, but because her height wasn’t very tall, she could only look down on little Wu.
Little Wu, however, wasn’t someone who could be wronged like this. Upon being looked down upon by the little elf, the little phoenix’s temper immediately flared. She broke free from Leticia’s hand, ran forward to the little elf, and kicked her knee hard.
“Ouch!”
The kick wasn’t very strong; Wu wouldn’t kill someone over such a small matter. But the kick landed squarely on her knee, and the little elf began rolling on the ground, clutching her knee.
“What meaningless arrogance.” Leticia was very pleased with Wu’s actions. She hated the elves’ baseless arrogance the most. “You guys aren’t some noble race, so why are you so arrogant? Even we demons aren’t this arrogant, and you have the audacity to be?”
You were beaten to a pulp by us demons on the battlefield, but you’re talking as if you won the war.
“Human! You, you, you…” The little elf got up from the ground with teary eyes and stomped her foot indignantly, “So you’re here to pick a fight, huh? I’m telling you, our elf race is not to be trifled with!”
“Ahem, of course not. It’s just that little Wu doesn’t like being looked down upon.” Petting Wu’s head, Leticia chuckled and said to the little elf, “We wanted to ask for directions. Could you tell us how to get to your capital?”
“Wow, this attitude! Does this woman think I’ll back down just like that and tell her the answer?” The little elf gritted her teeth, plotting in her mind how to get revenge for the kick.
“Go that way. It’s a very, very long journey to the City of Life.” Her body moved on its own, and the little elf honestly answered Leticia’s question.
After answering, the little elf covered her mouth in surprise. She clearly didn’t want to answer, so how did she blurt out the truth?
Was it this woman’s doing?
Huh?
Where did those three humans go?
The little elf stared blankly at the air in front of her. Weren’t those three women standing here just now? Where did they go?
Did they run off? Or was it just a hallucination from eating too many mushrooms?
But the pain in my knee wasn’t fake. It couldn’t be that I accidentally fell from the tree and injured my leg.
My agility shouldn’t be that bad, the little elf was quite confident in herself, so did those three women just leave? It was too strange.
She stood there thinking for a while, but couldn’t come up with any reason. In the end, the little elf could only scratch her head and hobbled away, intending to report the strange situation she encountered to the nearby forest rangers.
Hmph, those three bad women, don’t let me see you again!
While the little elf was sulking, Leticia and the other two had already resumed their journey to the elf capital.
“Mental abilities are really useful for asking directions. That little elf probably hasn’t even realized what happened yet, hahahaha.” Leticia hugged Wu and said with a smile to Inphino, “It’s really useful for asking directions.”
Why did the little elf involuntarily answer Leticia’s question?
The answer was obvious: Leticia had done something. Weak beings like the little elf couldn’t resist Leticia’s mental magic.
With a slight flick of her finger, Leticia could make the arrogant little elf as obedient as a puppy… well, but she wasn’t that perverted.
“The direction she pointed out shouldn’t be a problem, right?” Inphino was worried about something else.
“Probably not. She can’t hide secrets from me. If there’s a problem, it’s that she has an incorrect understanding of the City of Life’s location. Besides, we can land every few hours and ask other elves where their capital is. There are more and more elves beneath our feet now.”
Leticia could sense the growing elven presence below with just a casual scan. There was no doubt this meant they had completely entered elven territory. Asking for directions here would be no harder than finding a green leaf.
The further they moved in the direction the little elf pointed, the more elves Leticia could sense. At least she could be sure that the little one hadn’t pointed them in a completely wrong direction.
During this time, they spent more time descending to ask other elves for directions, and the direction of the elven capital became clearer and clearer.
But there was one thing Leticia had to complain about: the attitude of these elves was truly terrible. Everyone looked down on others and didn’t look people in the eye. With such arrogance, why didn’t they show such spirit on the battlefield?
She had initially thought the little elf was the problem, but now it seemed the entire elf race had a problem!
Every time they asked for directions, Wu would kick those elves who looked at people with their nostrils, making Wu almost used to kicking any elf she saw.
“Flying in this direction for a few days should get us to the elven capital. Doesn’t the elven territory seem much larger than the beastmen or human territories?” After asking for directions again, Leticia said helplessly to Inphino and Wu, “I remember the demon race’s territory isn’t this big either, right?”
“After all, we are traveling from the outermost edge of the elven territory to the center, so a long journey is quite normal.” Inphino wasn’t too surprised. “Traveling is the easiest part. Have you thought about what to do when we get there?”
“First, find Evangeline and ask if the prophecy book is with her. If not, I’ll raze the Elder Council and snatch the book from those old guys.”
“So aggressive? Don’t you want to use strategies or something like alliances?” Inphino’s eye twitched; this plan was too straightforward, too blunt.
Reason told her that this didn’t seem like a very good plan.
“What are you afraid of? With the three of us gods there, do we need to reason with those old guys? Besides, those old guys can’t reason either. I’ve dealt with them before. Other than being old, they have no other good qualities.” Leticia laughed contemptuously, not hiding her disgust for the elven elders.
These old guys were birds of a feather with the great nobles of the demon race. The only difference was that the great nobles of the demon race had been severely beaten by Leticia, while the elven elders still possessed powerful influence, constantly obstructing Evangeline, the elven empress.
Leticia believed that if Evangeline truly had the ability to eliminate all the elders, she wouldn’t hold back.
And now, here was a ready-made excuse for Leticia to help Evangeline act.
Before, Leticia standing on the stage to help Evangeline deal with the elders required her to consider international influence. Did she need to worry about that now?
Those lion-headed beastmen were already in self-imposed trouble. The dragons Leticia had planted among them wouldn’t let the current beastmen stand in opposition to Leticia. The human side was hard to say, but Leticia had excuses.
I’m doing this to save the world, to save the world, don’t you understand? This world is in danger, and these guys want to delay time. Who should die if not them?
We can’t let innocent people pay the price for the stupidity of these fools.
Violence might not be the best way to solve problems, but it is definitely the fastest way to solve the people who pose the problems, especially when you have enough power.
What Leticia didn’t know was that while she was laboriously traveling, which would take several days to reach the elven capital, the two major factions of the elf race were already plotting an internal struggle in secret.
“Our Empress seems a bit impatient. Does she really think her actions are so secretive that they can hide from everyone’s eyes?” The elven elder, with white hair and beard, placed a piece of intelligence on the desk with a sarcastic smile, saying scornfully, “She’s anxious. She’s afraid of us. She’s afraid of being dethroned.”
“Hmph, I’ve said it before that we should have driven out this lowly half-elf and replaced her with the former emperor’s youngest daughter, but none of you agreed with me. Now look, even the pampered kittens dare to bare their fangs at us,” sitting to the left of the elven elder was an elf slightly younger than him. He snorted coldly, clearly holding deep dissatisfaction with the elder just mentioned.
“Don’t you two argue first. That little empress also wields divine power, just like us. Within these few days, there won’t be much difference in our peak power. Lynn, are you sure you can suppress that little empress in a short period of time?” Another elven elder in the room asked.
The elven elder named Lynn nodded confidently. He was the Grand Elder of the elves, and had been in the position of elder for who knows how many years. In terms of foundation, the little empresses combined couldn’t compare to him.
He controlled more than half of the army in the City of Life, and nearly half of the high-level rangers and chanters were willing to obey his orders.
Evangeline’s power, on the other hand, was much weaker. Her recent policies had earned her the dissatisfaction of many elves. Although some elves felt that this was the only way for the elf race to progress and develop, these people were ultimately a minority.
The power Evangeline truly held was only that of her loyal followers, and it was incomparable to the power of the elders.
Her most powerful subordinate was naturally that unknown god, but this god would be bogged down by an elder’s divine being at the start of the battle. It would be difficult for the two gods to decide a winner in a short period of time.
The gods would neutralize each other, and Evangeline would be far inferior to the elders in terms of remaining hard power. It was no wonder the Grand Elder was so confident; he simply couldn’t find any possibility of failure.
In the face of such a power gap, any conspiracy or trickery would be weak and pale. The Grand Elder didn’t need any strategies; he just needed to gather his army, charge into the palace, and capture that little girl.
“Then, should we strike first and take her down before she knows we know her plans?” an elder asked.
“No. Let’s wait for her to make the first move. After all, she is the empress. If we make the first move, it won’t be easy to explain afterward,” the Grand Elder shook his head. Although he looked down on Evangeline, Evangeline was, after all, the empress recognized by all elves. Storming the palace and dethroning her without reason would make the elves who didn’t know the truth fearful.
“Even if she gets the first move, what waves can she stir up?”
