Chapter: Chapter 88
“I have a feeling we’ll see the captain again today.” Watching the captain and the other person disappear into the bustling crowd, Leticia murmured to herself with a slightly eerie smile.
So hurried, they must have received some news?
For example, two organizations planning to trade on the street where they flipped over last time.
“Mm, I just asked One-Eye. She said the preparations are complete and everything is proceeding according to plan.” Bai Ling put down her phone, her expression turning serious.
“Let’s go, time to change and have a chat with my good sister.” Leticia stretched, her voice betraying no tension.
After all, she was quite confident in her own abilities; she could do anything without worry, so why would she be nervous?
The place to change clothes was already decided: a nearby hotel. Leticia and Bai Ling had asked Xue’er to book a double room at noon and had put their operational clothing there.
Upon arriving at the hotel and entering the room, Leticia nodded in satisfaction.
It seemed everything was going smoothly.
Of course, there was one other person in the room.
“Xue’er?”
Xue’er, who was sitting cross-legged on a single bed, looked up with a smile, “Does Your Majesty have any questions?”
“Nothing, I was just wondering why Xue’er is here.” Leticia shook her head. She had thought only she and Bai Ling would be here.
She hadn’t expected Xue’er to be here as well.
“Of course, to provide some necessary technical support for the two of you. We can’t have you worrying about everything yourselves.” Xue’er pointed to the thin laptop on her lap and explained, “Sometimes, my intelligence is much more accurate than official sources.”
“For example, our councilor also intends to get a piece of this doomed transaction. Please be careful when Your Majesty leaves the scene.”
“Such scum, there’s nothing to worry about.” Leticia put on a large, white robe, completely unconcerned by Xue’er’s warning.
“It’s always better to be careful.” Xue’er put down her laptop and got off the bed.
Coming to Leticia’s side, the maid began her usual routine, tidying up her Majesty’s appearance.
Simply putting on the robe wouldn’t do; it was neither comfortable nor aesthetically pleasing.
“Is it really necessary to be so troublesome?” Leticia, once again being used as a mannequin by Xue’er, said with a pout.
Xue’er was used to Leticia’s complaints. Ever since she was chosen to be Leticia’s maid, she had heard such complaints countless times.
Before long, Xue’er had finished her work, buttoning the last button on the robe. She clapped her hands, quite satisfied with her results.
“Quite good-looking…” Leticia exclaimed in surprise, looking at the girl in the mirror who had transformed completely.
Xue’er’s craftsmanship was as good as ever.
“But can I take off this hairpin now?”
“No, we left in a hurry and I didn’t bring any replacements.” Xue’er shook her head. “As long as you don’t take off the hat, Princess Kiara won’t find out.”
“Really?” Leticia was a little skeptical.
Who was Xue’er? Anyone else might be careless, but not this maid.
“Of course, it’s true.” Xue’er lowered her eyes and replied as usual.
Deceiving Your Majesty, she was truly wicked.
Xue’er admitted that she had deliberately not brought any spare hairpins.
In her heart, she still hoped that Princess Kiara could be reunited with Your Majesty soon. The demon race was vast, she couldn’t possibly be the only demon who knew Leticia’s whereabouts.
If there was anyone in the demon race who could control Leticia, it would definitely be Kiara.
“Actually, for Your Majesty and Princess Kiara to be reunited…”
“No, no, no. If she knew what I’ve been doing these past few years, I wouldn’t be able to live.” Leticia immediately interrupted Xue’er.
The younger sister was growing up and becoming disobedient.
She couldn’t just hang her sister from a tree and whip her like before, could she?
Even if Kiara was willing, Leticia wouldn’t be able to bear it.
In the past, it was out of necessity, but now, Leticia genuinely couldn’t harden her heart, or rather, her heart had already softened.
“What time is it now?”
“It’s seven forty. The transaction is at eight o’clock. This is the perfect time to leave.” Xue’er sighed and replied.
“Then let’s go, we can’t keep Kiara waiting too long.” Leticia picked up the last piece of equipment, a white mask, and put it on her face.
Bai Ling, who had already finished dressing, nodded silently. Her red eyes, hidden beneath the black mask, lingered on Xue’er for a moment before shifting away.
Xue’er knew that Bai Ling had probably guessed her thoughts. This girl looked a bit slow-witted, but she was actually very clever on the inside.
“Sigh, troublesome, so troublesome.” Leticia sighed and opened the window. “By the way, don’t we have any long-range communication devices?”
“I do.” Bai Ling said faintly, pointing to her ear.
“We’re short on funds.” Xue’er flashed an awkward yet polite smile. “A mobile phone will have to do for now.”
This was too unprofessional!
“Once you arrive at the scene, Your Majesty can improvise. The script has been arranged. Just follow the steps, and there shouldn’t be any major problems.” Xue’er added.
Problems? Where would there be problems?
Or rather, problems would be great.
Such unprofessional preparation made Leticia feel a bad premonition.
What if, and she was just saying, what if she was accidentally recognized by Kiara?
“Relax, Kiara already suspects you. It’s only a matter of time before she knows your identity.” Bai Ling patted Leticia’s shoulder, her words doing little to comfort her.
“This is all your fault, and you have the nerve to say that!” At the mention of this, Leticia exploded in anger. If Bai Ling hadn’t come to borrow her glasses, would she have been exposed so quickly!
Bai Ling shifted her gaze guiltily, “I can help you block Kiara, trust me.”
“Do you think I’ll forgive you just because you say that? I’m telling you, it’s impossible!” Leticia said fiercely through gritted teeth. “I’ll remember this grudge for the rest of my life!”
Compared to accepting Bai Ling’s help and having her block Kiara, Leticia felt it would be easier to reunite with Kiara.
Perhaps this was the result of her meaningless pride.
“Phew, it’s getting late, let’s go.” The demon king’s anger was like a summer shower, coming fast and disappearing just as quickly. Before long, she had composed herself.
“Well then, I wish you both success~”
