Chapter 99
“The number of monsters is still increasing, as if they are deliberately preventing me from going somewhere,” Bai Ling thought in her heart as she frowned, watching countless monsters charge at her fearlessly, only to be crushed into mist by the stars around her.
She had lost count of the monsters she had “killed,” but they kept surging out from the mist as if they were endless.
This made even the usually calm Bai Ling feel a bit annoyed.
The mist was very strange; Bai Ling’s senses couldn’t penetrate it, which was very unusual.
“I have a bad feeling about this.” Raising her head, Bai Ling looked at a giant black shadow in the distance – it was a clock tower.
She had been wandering in this “vibrant” city, and the heavy fog had made her lose her sense of direction. She didn’t know where to look for Leticia.
Perhaps she should go to the clock tower?
The place was so obvious, almost as if it was guiding anyone who saw it to head there.
It was the only thing that could give a person a sense of direction in the fog, and Bai Ling believed it couldn’t be meaningless.
“I’ll go check it out,” she thought.
So, she turned and swung her sword.
A brilliant sword energy briefly tore through the fog, destroying the wall behind it, giving Bai Ling a momentary glimpse of the clock tower.
“Magic fluctuations, and so intense… something has happened.”
Bai Ling had only felt such terrifying magical fluctuations when fighting with Leticia, which meant Leticia was now fighting with all her might.
She was facing an opponent who was at least on the same level as them.
“I need to get there quickly.”
It wasn’t that Bai Ling didn’t trust Leticia; she just wanted the fight to end faster.
Besides, two against one was much easier than a one-on-one fight.
With that thought, Bai Ling stomped on the ground, transforming into a meteor and charging towards the clock tower.
This terrified the old man watching from the shadows. “That person is fighting, and if this menacing figure gets involved now, the outcome is unpredictable.”
The old man had just observed a bit of the fight between “that person” and Leticia. Although “that person” had a slight advantage, it was clearly impossible to defeat Leticia in a short period.
With the intense battle, adding another expert of the same level made the old man genuinely worried.
“Quickly, stop her, at any cost,” he urgently shouted to his subordinates.
“We can’t stop her! Her speed is too fast; our fog beasts can’t hold her back!” The sweating subordinates were helpless against the approaching Bai Ling, only able to watch as she arrived at the clock tower’s entrance with devastating speed.
Upon reaching the vicinity of the clock tower, Bai Ling immediately felt the magical fluctuations emanating from within.
Indeed, Leticia was fighting someone.
The magic fluctuation was somewhat unstable, indicating that Leticia was being suppressed.
Being able to suppress Leticia in a fight was a terrifying opponent.
Walking to the entrance, Bai Ling pushed hard against the door but found that no matter how much she exerted herself, it wouldn’t budge.
At this point, a normal person would start to wonder if there was a secret mechanism to open the door.
But Bai Ling was an anomaly.
When faced with something blocking her path, she had only one solution.
“Slash!”
…
“Ugh.” The small girl rolled on the ground awkwardly, dodging the mist arrows falling from the sky.
Her clothes were tattered, exposing much of her fair skin to the air, making her look quite pitiful.
A trace of crimson stained the corner of her mouth, and her cheeks had an unhealthy flush.
“As a mortal, you are strong,” the girl, whose clothes were made of mist, floated in the air, looking down at Liethicia with arrogant eyes. “But I am a god. Mortals cannot defeat gods.”
“Cough, cough, if all gods were as weak as you, I can understand why you don’t exist in history.” Although she was at a disadvantage, Liethicia’s mouth was as sharp as ever.
Being suppressed wasn’t something new to her.
Frankly, the pressure this god brought was nowhere near the pressure Bai Ling used to give her.
When facing Bai Ling, she had exhausted all her skills without achieving any progress, and all her spells were severed by Bai Ling’s sword.
But this god would dodge and fear Liethicia’s magic.
Compared to a god, she was more like a slightly stronger person.
“I can still buy time. I believe my sister will be able to seal you before I fail.”
“Hmph, with those few little girls?” the Mist God sneered, though a flicker of worry flashed in her eyes; it was indeed a potential threat.
Nearly an hour had passed since the fight began. Although she had the upper hand, Liethicia stubbornly held on. Even now, the Mist God wasn’t entirely confident about possessing Liethicia.
Her will was too strong; she needed to at least knock her unconscious.
How easy was that?
“You’re afraid, so I can relax.” Liethicia flashed a slightly annoying smile. “Speaking of which, I should have another helper. She should be arriving soon.”
How much time had passed? That idiot Bai Ling should have figured out to come to the clock tower by now.
It was so obvious that it could be easily identified even in such thick fog. If she didn’t come this way, Liethicia would truly curse her.
“You mean the white-haired one? She can’t possibly come here,” the Mist God stated with certainty, aiming to crush Liethicia’s last hope. “I specifically trapped her in a labyrinth, and the clock tower’s gate is already completely sealed. Unless she finds a way to break through, she absolutely cannot come to help you.”
And finding the way to break through would be difficult.
According to the Mist God’s estimate, Bai Ling, alone, would take at least a day to reach this place.
“I actually feel like you’ve miscalculated,” Liethicia suddenly revealed a strange smile. “I can smell that annoying scent. She’s already here.”
“What…”
Before the Mist God could finish speaking, the sealed stone door was shattered by incredibly fierce sword energy.
Amidst the chaos, the white-haired girl, sword in hand, stepped into the clock tower.
“It seems I’m not too late.”
Yes, Bai Ling disliked solving puzzles; she preferred to crush everything with absolute strength.
For example, this door. There were two ways to open it: one was to solve the puzzle according to the hints in front of the door, and the second was to smash the door directly.
Most people would choose the first option, while Bai Ling was never most people.
“It’s still a little late. I thought you would be here earlier,” Liethicia wiped the blood from her lips. “Although I’m a bit reluctant, we’ll have to be comrades for now.”
“My pleasure.” Bai Ling’s lips curved upwards, her gaze towards the Mist God carrying a hint of gratitude.
She thanked this god for allowing her to fight alongside Liethicia.
