Chapter 1022: New Spells
After defeating the traitorous City Defense Army and collecting the evidence, I began to cast a wide net. Through Lavias, I had the Ministers of Municipal Affairs and Taxation spread rumors, and through Via, I contacted the Knight Captain to cooperate with the propaganda.
Combined with the collected evidence and the destruction of a military banner, there was no way for the Chief Knight to make a comeback. This wave would surely lead to his downfall, and it would be best if he was directly executed as a warning.
“Alright, since I have to deliver the revised design plans to Mr. Zhang tomorrow, I’ll meet him afterward. You relay this message to the female sniper and arrange a secret meeting location,” I said to Via.
Via could directly relay messages to her subordinate Blood Kin, which was a very convenient and useful ability. Furthermore, Vampires had absolute control over their servants, so they didn’t have to worry about their subordinates attempting to betray them.
Although I heard from Via that some people who were forced to become Vampire servants tried various ways to break free from their master’s control, and there were even some successful cases, they were still a minority.
Coupled with the allure of immortality, many people were willing to serve Vampires. I heard from Lavias that Vampires had informants throughout the high levels of humanity’s major empires, and he was considered relatively weak.
“By the way, Parul, I was promoted today, wasn’t I? The Dawn Church said I’m now some kind of Dawn Lord?” Jayad suddenly said.
“That’s right, Older Brother Jayad was promoted on the spot today. Is it because of the Halloween influence? Did you become stronger?” I asked.
“Yes, it seems I’ve mastered a few strange spells, as if I suddenly comprehended them. One of them might be helpful to Parul. Don’t you have two torn pages of a diary, Parul? Let me see them,” Jayad said.
“Okay, but what are you going to do with them? Older Brother Jayad isn’t studying magic or potions, are you?” I took out the two pages. I had already memorized the content on these two pages by heart and even deduced quite a bit on my own.
Unfortunately, because they were torn from the middle, the sentences were directly broken off. I couldn’t be sure if my deductions were correct; there were bound to be deviations, but I didn’t know how much.
The problem was, what did Older Brother Jayad want to do with these two pages? He wasn’t studying magic either.
“I want to try and see if the newly comprehended spells are useful. This should be how it’s used,” Older Brother Jayad said, placing his hand on one of the pages, which recorded potions.
“Rose’s Touch!” Jayad said, and a soft rose-colored light emanated from his palm, enveloping the page.
“Ah! The page seems to be… it seems to be repairing itself!” Lorna exclaimed, surprised. The three of them were also watching Older Brother Jayad’s performance.
The torn page, which was only half left, was slowly restoring itself. The other half, which had long since disappeared, was slowly rejoining, and the writing appeared on it.
Not only that, but even the color of the page was changing. Previously, the diary had turned a waxy yellow due to the passage of time, but now the yellow faded, and it returned to white paper.
Soon, a complete and undamaged page of the Witch’s diary appeared in Older Brother Jayad’s hand. He handed it to me, and I picked up the page in amazement. The writing on it connected, forming complete sentences.
It recorded three new potions: Pure Blood Potion, Dragon Power Potion, and Strong Acid Potion. I finally saw the remaining content.
“H-how did you do that?” I asked in surprise. It looked like the original page. The three undead girls also looked at Jayad in wonder.
“This is the spell I awakened when I was promoted, Rose’s Touch. It’s a spell for repairing items. As long as you use this spell, you can repair damaged items. It’s said that with advanced training, you can even repair items with souls or magic apparatus,” Older Brother Jayad said.
“That’s amazing!” we exclaimed in unison. Healing injured people was understandable, but being able to repair inanimate objects with magic was incredible.
“This is nothing really. I can’t repair magic apparatus yet, only pages like these,” Jayad said, picking up the other page and using Rose’s Touch to repair it as well.
It described a spell called Shadow Guard, which was said to be one of the basic spells for a Witch. Witches had poor combat power themselves, so they needed a guardian spirit to protect them while they cast spells.
Witches would choose to sign contracts with some people, exchanging certain benefits for the spirit bodies of those strong individuals to protect them. Many were investments made in advance, waiting for those individuals to become powerful before becoming their spiritual guardians.
This spell was about using souls to create a guardian, which was similar to what I had deduced before. That was why I had been looking for Older Brother Jayad to finish off monsters with the ruby dagger for me to collect monster souls to create guardians.
However, it seemed the page differed slightly from my deductions, with some subtle differences. And after reading the complete version, I felt that my version might be slightly better?
At least I felt that there were several obvious omissions in the original spell, which, while not necessarily errors, felt like shortcomings.
The other three girls were also passing around the page that recorded the potions. Sherris, in particular, stared at the page for a moment. I noticed she was looking at the Pure Blood Potion.
It was a potion that could unlock the potential of otherworldly bloodlines within humans, even raising it to an almost pure-blood level. She was a half-ghoul, so this potion might be just what she needed.
At this time, Lorna suddenly asked, “Um, Older Brother Jayad, did you only awaken one spell?”
“That’s right. Usually, when one is promoted, they awaken two or three spells. Do you have another one, Big Brother?” Via also asked.
“Yes, there is one more,” Jayad said, waving his hand. A cloak made of rose-colored light draped over him.
“Another defensive spell? We already have too many divine spells for defense,” I said, looking at the rose-colored cloak, which seemed a bit redundant.
“This is not a divine spell for defense, but rather for resisting negative status effects like curses, poison, debuffs, and so on. If I were to use it on you, I could even dispel negative effects for you,” Jayad said.
“No! Wait a moment, don’t use it on us. This is a Dawn divine spell, we’ll die! Only Lorna can withstand it!” Via said nervously.
Right, this was still a divine spell from the Dawn Church. I should be able to endure it, but Via and Sherris probably couldn’t.
If Older Brother Jayad had known this divine spell when fighting the Old Day Imprinter, he could have directly resisted Gatanothoa’s petrification effect and the Usum Child’s parasitic influence. I could immediately think of many useful applications for it.
