The Little Witch’s Daily Struggle – Chapter 1237

Chapter 1237: What Exactly Do They Want?

Demigods are the exception; demigods can become gods. If we were to use the fishpond theory, they are the ones who have truly dived into the fishpond.
But I still feel something is off. Even if a medium is needed, it doesn’t change their fundamental nature as half-gods, a hybrid of human and divine.
After reading through the basic history of this world, I learned that the Holy Son was a real historical figure, and could indeed be worshipped as a god, genuinely receiving divine favor.
However, occult foundational theories like the Kabbalah Tree of Life diagram argue that humans cannot become gods. They are entirely different life forms, and humans can never transform into gods.
Although there are sayings like brave warriors being welcomed into Valhalla by the Valkyrie to become Heroic Spirits, and Christians who have purged their sins can enter Eden, they are ultimately not gods, but merely higher-level servants of the gods.
The distinction lies in the fact that gods can accept prayers and respond to believers, and miracles are frequently seen. But no pure human can achieve this, not even the most renowned strong individuals in the world. Even after ascending, they would not respond to prayers or bestow divine favor.
“Yes, that is their foundational theory, but it’s clearly wrong. There’s no precedent. Wait! Do they want Older Brother Jayad…” I suddenly thought of a far-fetched possibility.
“That’s right. Arianism might want Big Brother to become a god to prove their theory is correct,” Via said.
“That’s impossible. Besides, Older Brother Jayad isn’t a demigod.” I’m certain the characteristics of a demigod are very obvious.
History has seen many demigods, such as Perseus, Hercules, and Karna. They all have various records. Demigods are favored by divine power from a young age, and miracles constantly occur around them; they simply cannot be hidden.
Take Amelia’s child, for instance; even in the womb, he could distort the surrounding space. Older Brother Jayad was definitely a normal person when I crossed over.
Moreover, Older Brother Jayad is blessed by several different gods, which clearly contradicts the characteristics of a demigod. While demigods are powerful, they generally only possess the power of their father god.
At most, due to his father’s high status as a Main God, he might receive blessings from other subordinate gods. But divine favor from several different pantheons, like Older Brother Jayad, is extremely rare, with only a few coincidental examples in history.
“It’s precisely because he’s not a demigod. Jesus is already a demigod, so promoting another demigod to a divine status is meaningless. It doesn’t disprove the doctrine of the Trinity,” Via stated.
“If he’s not a demigod, then it’s even more impossible. Historically, there has never been a mortal who wasn’t a demigod and became a god.” I asserted. It’s precisely because of this reason that Arianism has always been considered heretical.
“No, it’s still possible. Big Brother is a special case. Sister Parul, what kind of existence do you think Big Brother truly is?” Via suddenly asked.
This stumped me. I had actually noticed for a long time that Older Brother Jayad was abnormal. He received divine favor too easily. The divine favor that others couldn’t obtain after a lifetime of effort, he could get with ease.
But I had also tried to ponder what Older Brother Jayad was, yet I couldn’t figure it out. I guessed that Older Brother Jayad might be like a particularly eye-catching koi carp in a school of mediocre fish; everyone who sees it wants to feed it a bit.
Seeing me shake my head, Via said, “This brings us to the last entity of the Trinity: the Holy Spirit. The doctrine of the Trinity believes that the Holy Spirit is on par with the Son and the Father; they are three different personae of the same God.”
“The Holy Spirit?” I was taken aback. The Holy Spirit is the most abstract entity in the Trinity. According to the doctrine, it is the spirit of God, everywhere, connecting the Father and the Son, and connecting humans and God.
To understand it with Eastern philosophy, the Holy Spirit is the Tao, the laws of the world, representing the basis of everything: God and the Tao coexist.
This is too abstract. My understanding is that if the Trinity represents states of matter, the Father is like an intangible gaseous state that can be perceived, the Son is a tangible solid state, then the Holy Spirit is the liquid state in between.
“You think Older Brother Jayad is the Holy Spirit?” I asked doubtfully. But that’s not right either. The Holy Spirit cannot be a specific person; the Holy Spirit resides in everyone’s heart, not a concrete entity.
“Of course not. The Holy Spirit cannot concretize into a person. My guess is that Big Brother is a mortal capable of containing the persona of the Holy Spirit,” Via said.
“This leads to the foundational theory of Arianism. Firstly, they believe the Church should not hold excessive wealth. Then, they believe that the Son was initially just a human body. Because he possessed a persona capable of containing the Holy Spirit, the Father then bestowed the Holy Spirit upon him, thus making him a god.”
Via’s point also touches upon a fundamental disagreement between the Roman Catholic Church and Orthodox Christianity: whether the Holy Spirit proceeds from the Father alone or jointly from the Father and the Son. But that’s not important. What’s important is Via’s conjecture.
“You think Older Brother Jayad is a vessel capable of containing the Holy Spirit?” I asked, finding it hard to believe.
“That’s the only way to guess, otherwise, there’s no explaining why he can so easily receive so much divine favor. I can only understand it as him being the Perfect Body that Arianism has always been searching for,” Via said, shrugging helplessly.
Now I could understand what Arianism wanted to do. If Via’s deduction is correct, they are looking for a mortal, a mortal capable of containing the Holy Spirit, and then promoting him to godhood.
This would be enough to prove the doctrine of the Trinity wrong: even a mortal, if possessing the Holy Spirit, can become a god.
But this deduction is absolutely audacious. If released, it would face public condemnation and possibly even the pyre. This doesn’t just shake the doctrine of the Trinity; if successful, it would directly undermine the very foundation of Christianity.
If the Holy Spirit could be possessed by mortals, the Trinitarian God would be divided, and the divine Authority would no longer be supreme. This would undoubtedly shatter the faith of many.
No wonder the orthodox Church, while able to ignore many heresies that committed evil in the name of Christianity, could absolutely not tolerate Arianism. They were too insane.
“This is impossible, it’s entirely theoretical. These conjectures are based solely on the assumptions of Arianism and are actually unfeasible,” I shook my head directly after considering it.
“No, that’s not true. Arianism has strived for this proof for over a thousand years, and they haven’t gained nothing. In fact, I heard they have mastered a method to introduce the Holy Spirit into a person’s body.”
“But for a thousand years, no mortal has been able to withstand the power of the Holy Spirit; they all died burned by the Holy Fire. So they have been searching for that theoretically existent Perfect Body, or rather, an unblemished being.”

You hear the penny-dreadful tales, don’t you? Souls whisked off to other worlds, landing in lives of ease and splendor. Reborn as young lords in grand manors, with enchanted baubles at their fingertips or a spectral mentor whispering secrets. But my own ‘grand arrival’? No gentle angel to light the path. Instead, a repulsive, foul deity—some forgotten horror from a darker age—claimed me. I was tormented to the very edge of oblivion, then pitched into a twisted, gaslit world of shadows and fear. I awoke in the frail body of an orphan girl, shivering in some rat-infested rookery, choked by smog and despair. Weak, plagued by illness, with a hunger that gnawed relentlessly. My new story didn’t start from scratch; it began deep in the dregs, clawing my way up from less than nothing.” Now, all I fight for is to live, to see another grimy sunrise over these cobbled streets. Not just for my own skin, but for him—the one whose fate is tangled with mine, the one soul I cling to in this godforsaken, fog-drenched city.
