## Chapter 1368: New Divine Spell
“This is the killer from the Murder Church that the Saintess mentioned? She’s inside?” the Princess asked curiously, watching the Valkyrie spit out the Iron Maiden from a large mouth.
In fact, I had been live-streaming this battle to the Princess from the Valkyrie’s perspective since a while ago, even adding my personal commentary and evaluations to help her understand some combat principles.
“Yes, I’ve caught her. Don’t open it carelessly. She’s a very dangerous person, and you can’t handle her. I’ll return the Iron Maiden to you after I’ve contained her. Until then, let’s find an isolated vault to lock her up,” I said.
Although theoretically, a Steel Golem could not break free from the inside unless the person captured was an immensely strong individual, I was still cautious and chose to lock Giselle in an isolated vault of the Hessen family.
These isolated vaults were equipped with powerful seals, both internal and external. For instance, when storing very dangerous items with self-awareness or those that could negatively affect their surroundings, they would be sealed within these vaults.
Furthermore, if a thief managed to break the vault’s seal and enter, the alerted guards could activate the seal to trap the thief inside. Thus, these rooms served as both treasuries and magical prisons, making it a foolproof plan to lock Giselle away.
After locking her in, I was seized by a mischievous impulse and commanded the Steel Golem to walk in circles inside the isolated vault, continuously repeating this action.
With the energy stored in the sunstone within the Steel Golem’s head, the golem could run for at least another week. Its movements would cause the internal brushes and pulleys to roll together, ensuring Giselle wouldn’t get bored.
I would come back for her after I dealt with the murderer. Hopefully, she would be more compliant by then.
Meanwhile, at the murderer’s hideout, Via, Sherris, and Lorna arrived. However, the battle had already concluded. Giselle had already been dealt with, leaving only the unconscious murderer.
“We’re sorry, Sister Parul! You told us to keep an eye on Giselle, but she somehow escaped inexplicably. It also took us quite some time to find her,” they apologized with shame.
When I quietly told them that Giselle might be an accomplice and an insider to the murderer, they were somewhat disbelieving. Giselle was quiet at home and had a good relationship with them.
“It’s not your fault. I didn’t expect her to be able to teleport directly from home to here. It’s great that you made it here. Help me search for any clues the murderer left behind,” I comforted them.
To be honest, I truly hadn’t anticipated this. I hadn’t wanted Giselle involved in this matter and had asked Via and the others to keep an eye on her, even suggesting force if necessary.
If we could eliminate the murderer first, she would be powerless. If she didn’t make a move, I could pretend none of this had ever happened.
However, it was now clear that self-deception was completely unadvisable. Giselle’s obsession with pursuing power and a perfect physique was too profound. Even if we captured the murderer, she would find ways to rescue her.
“Older Brother Jayad, the murderer’s knowledge is too dangerous to be revealed to others. We should also sever Giselle’s aspirations and perhaps end her pursuit. Moreover, she knows too much about our home,” I hinted to Older Brother Jayad.
“Understood, no problem. I will erase all her knowledge related to magic and religion, as well as anything concerning us. This way, she will be harmless and will only have to confess her crimes and await judgment,” Older Brother Jayad nodded.
A phantom dark yellow tentacle materialized from his palm and inserted itself into the back of the murderer’s head. For an enemy like her, there was no need to use Hastur’s Song for hypnosis; a simple, crude destruction of memories would suffice and be safer.
The difference between the two methods was that Hastur’s Song only made people forget a specific memory or, through suggestion, guided them away from thinking in that direction; the memory still existed and could be recalled with a trigger.
However, this method of inserting a tentacle into the back of the head directly destroyed memories at the soul level. Upon waking, the person would feel a distinct dissonance, realizing a part of their memory was missing but being unable to recall it, a truly cruel method.
Soon, Older Brother Jayad retracted his tentacle. The murderer’s memories were now devoid of the methods to cast any of her spells. She would still clearly remember how she used those spells to kill people, but she had completely forgotten how to cast them.
Simultaneously, Via and the others searched the room and discovered a large amount of evidence, such as bloodstained blades, human organs stored in jars, and ritualistic props used for murder rituals—each item was incredibly creepy.
These props were actually somewhat useful to me. I had already obtained Murder’s Divine Power, which meant I could now perform murder rituals.
However, I decided against taking them. Firstly, they were all important pieces of evidence. Secondly, I deeply abhorred such killing tools and didn’t want to touch them.
Although I had obtained Murder’s Divine Power and knew clearly that it was accumulated from one murder case after another, these blood debts were not mine. I was simply a pure opportunist, using it because it was available.
But if I were asked to kill an innocent person to obtain such power, I would absolutely refuse. Therefore, apart from taking some conventional Spellcasting Material, I left all the remaining ritualistic magic apparatus.
“Alright, from here, we’ll hand all of this over to Sebastian. He’ll handle the rest. It’s getting late today, though. Let’s take the murderer back with us and go to Sebastian tomorrow,” I said.
“Okay, I’ll lock up the murderer,” Older Brother Jayad replied. With a gentle stomp on the ground, a layer of dark shadow appeared beneath the murderer, resembling an abyss. Several tentacles then emerged and dragged the murderer into it.
It was clear at a glance that this was similar to how I used my Bite spell to transport things, except Older Brother Jayad could even use it to transport people. As for which alternate dimension the murderer was sent to, I didn’t want to know.
I felt that this battle had changed Older Brother Jayad significantly. Forced to refrain from using Holy Light, he had become more proactive in utilizing the power of the King in Yellow during this fight, developing many new applications.
Finally, I also intended to try out my newly acquired Murder’s Divine Power, starting with the simplest and most basic divine spells to eliminate evidence.
Although I couldn’t be as detached from the scene as the murderer to destroy all clues, even destroying memories, I could at least automatically identify the clues I left behind at the scene.
As the divine spell erased the evidence, all the blood and hair I had left behind were incinerated, leaving no ash, nor did they burn anything nearby.
After completing this, we finally left with peace of mind.
