The Little Witch’s Daily Struggle – Chapter 1393

Chapter 1393 – It Doesn’t Exist To Me

Lorna floated to the wall and pushed forward. Just as I thought she would phase through the wall as usual, she actually pushed open a door.

The door had abruptly appeared on the wall; it wasn’t there before. The moment Lorna’s hand touched the wall, the door materialized. It was an ancient, rustic wooden door, flickering in and out of existence as if not quite real. It opened easily with Lorna’s movement.

“There really is one… Hey! Wait!” I suddenly realized as I saw Lorna float inside and shouted. Older Brother Jayad and Via rushed forward simultaneously.

Then they both slammed into the wall, and the door disappeared. It wasn’t that it closed, but it vanished automatically after Lorna entered.

Or rather, whether she entered or not, we couldn’t get in. The door itself was invisible to us, and so was the room behind it. To us, they simply didn’t exist. It was only by staring at Lorna that we could perceive it during that brief contact.

“Lorna’s aura… it’s gone!” Via said heavily. She had a certain sensitivity to the surrounding Undead creatures, but now she couldn’t sense the little ghost’s position at all.

I couldn’t either. Before we left, we had placed markers on each other to prevent separation. Now, everyone else’s markers were fine, but Lorna’s had disappeared.

I also scanned the area with my God’s Eye. As expected, all I saw was a wall and an open space. There was no door, nor the room we glimpsed so fleetingly. It must have been another space entirely.

“No, we need to hide! Someone’s coming!” Sherris warned. As predicted, the workers outside seemed to have noticed the foreman was missing and were entering the warehouse.

We had already hidden behind a pile of Monster corpses, but there was a problem. When Lorna suddenly pushed open the door, our attention had been completely drawn to her, and we hadn’t dealt with the Alien Parasite’s corpse. It was still in its ripped-in-half state, discarded atop the pile of Monster bodies.

We held our breath, ready to act at any moment. I had already taken my Magic Wand out of my waist pack. If the workers noticed anything amiss, I would immediately subdue them.

However, they looked around confusedly and said, “Where did the foreman go? I thought I saw him come in just now?”

“I don’t know. Maybe he left beforehand? Let’s hurry and finish moving the corpses outside. Otherwise, he’ll scold us when he gets back,” another employee said.

After saying that, they left, not even noticing the new corpse that hadn’t been there before. They were far too complacent. Perhaps their reactions were dulled due to the corrosive effects.

Seeing that they had all left, we cautiously emerged, still maintaining our stealth. Via asked, “What do we do now? Lorna’s gone, and after waiting so long, she hasn’t come out on her own.”

“No need to rush. You saw Lorna’s strength just now. In her Five Eyes state, she’s incredibly powerful. She should be safe for now. We just need to find her slowly,” I said.

“When that door opened, I felt an immensely evil aura and a very frantic consciousness. Whatever is behind that door is definitely not simple,” Older Brother Jayad added.

“The problem now is still how to get in. Talking is useless if we can’t enter, but we can’t find that door at all,” Via said, a little anxious.

She and Lorna were good friends, and seeing her disappear without a trace made her uneasy. However, anxiety was useless; it was time for calm consideration.

“Perhaps I have another way,” I said. Everyone’s eyes turned to me. I continued, “We can enter through that teleportation array. When the array activated earlier, Lorna said she felt Father’s aura. The fact that the same aura exists behind the door pushed her to go in without hesitation. This means the two places are connected.”

The others thought this made sense. The hidden door and the teleportation array were so close. It was hard to imagine two separate dimensions overlapping in such a small area without conflict. These two doors must be connected.

“So, do we need to blend in with the pile of corpses and enter the teleportation array together?” Sherris asked. She, being a Ghoul herself, likely wouldn’t mind, but others might not feel the same.

The pressure of hiding among the corpses wasn’t the main issue. The critical point was what lay on the other side of the teleportation array. It was completely unknown to us.

This teleportation array on top of the pile of corpses wasn’t designed for people. It wouldn’t be surprising if we were teleported directly into a meat grinder, considering the need to process so many corpses in bulk.

“That’s not a problem. I have a Blood Magic spell that can protect everyone during the teleportation. Also, hiding inside the Monsters’ bellies will let us blend in,” Via suggested.

Since the safety of the teleportation could be guaranteed, we decided to act without delay. Following Via’s plan, as the employees turned to leave, we found a huge corpse, cut it open, and crawled inside.

The hollowed-out Monster corpse was filled with a putrid stench, making it very uncomfortable for us to crawl inside. Only Sherris seemed excited.

But we soon understood why Via insisted we hide inside the Monster corpses. The Blood Magic she was about to cast was a protective shield that enveloped us completely. Using it outside would have been too conspicuous.

I used my God’s Eye to constantly monitor the situation inside the warehouse, watching the workers, their reactions dulled, mechanically carrying in corpse after corpse. Soon, another small mountain of them piled up.

“They’re here!” I warned, seeing the Magic Circle on the ground light up. They all felt the magical fluctuations and prepared for the impact.

To be honest, this was quite a rash move on our part, entering all at once. We hadn’t even considered leaving one or two people outside to observe the situation or call for help. I hoped we weren’t blindly walking into a deathtrap.

Perhaps sensing my nervousness, Older Brother Jayad reached out and held my hand, then Sherris’s hand, and then hugged Via, who was maintaining the blood shield, offering us encouragement.

The array activated smoothly. The Monster corpses piled on top of it instantly vanished, and we were teleported away along with them.

My God’s Eye, in its last glimpse of the disappearing Monster corpses, also went black, indicating that I had been teleported into another dimension, beyond the God’s Eye’s reach.

Because of the protection of the blood cocoon, we didn’t feel any spatial distortion or pressure during the teleportation. We could only guess, “Did we teleport successfully?”

The God’s Eye couldn’t be activated anymore, which meant this dimension was encrypted and beyond its observation. I couldn’t be sure where we had been sent.

You hear the penny-dreadful tales, don’t you? Souls whisked off to other worlds, landing in lives of ease and splendor. Reborn as young lords in grand manors, with enchanted baubles at their fingertips or a spectral mentor whispering secrets. But my own ‘grand arrival’? No gentle angel to light the path. Instead, a repulsive, foul deity—some forgotten horror from a darker age—claimed me. I was tormented to the very edge of oblivion, then pitched into a twisted, gaslit world of shadows and fear. I awoke in the frail body of an orphan girl, shivering in some rat-infested rookery, choked by smog and despair. Weak, plagued by illness, with a hunger that gnawed relentlessly. My new story didn’t start from scratch; it began deep in the dregs, clawing my way up from less than nothing.” Now, all I fight for is to live, to see another grimy sunrise over these cobbled streets. Not just for my own skin, but for him—the one whose fate is tangled with mine, the one soul I cling to in this godforsaken, fog-drenched city.
