Chapter 1547 Maid Karina
“What?” The Princess also felt this aura. Via and Lorna, who were about to come out, retreated and chose to observe the situation.
Countless flies flew in from the window, converging into a human form before us. Then, a woman of classical beauty emerged from the swarm of flies.
She was wearing a black Chief Priest robe with red trim. Her skirt and ribbons were adorned with evil demon symbols, which upon closer inspection, were abstract fly imprints. Her attire looked like that of a cultist.
Her face, hidden beneath her hood, wasn’t immediately breathtaking but had a timeless charm. She appeared to be between twenty and thirty years old, possessing a classical Roman beauty.
Maid Karina. The Princess had mentioned she was returning today, which was why everyone had been deliberately dismissed. However, because I was in a hurry to ask about the Werewolf situation and had summoned the Intelligence Manager, we happened to run into her.
“Karina! You’re back!” The Princess jumped up happily, showing her delight. It seemed she and Karina had a very good relationship.
“Yes, I’m back. Those idiots are finally able to operate the store normally. It took me a lot of effort just to teach them that ingredients can’t be eaten,” Karina sighed.
“Has the Buffet restaurant fully opened? That’s great! I really want to try it too. Let’s sneak out next time I have a chance,” the Princess said excitedly.
“The travel time alone takes one day, and Princess, you might not be used to that environment. It’s incredibly popular, the store is completely full, and the food is very different from what you usually eat. You might not like it,” Karina said, rubbing the Princess’s head in a doting manner.
“It’s alright. I’m also the Saintess of Gluttony, I can eat anything,” the Princess replied. She had always wanted to try different flavors but never had the opportunity.
“Okay, I’ll take you when I have the chance. Experiencing a different dining atmosphere wouldn’t be bad. And those foods do have a unique and fresh feel. Truly worthy of a recipe provided by a Saintess,” Karina said with a smile.
“By the way, Karina, how long have you been back? You didn’t have to wait too long, did you?” the Princess asked. Karina had entered as soon as the Intelligence Manager left, meaning she had likely returned earlier and waited outside for a while.
“I was already outside when you were discussing the Werewolf. I didn’t expect there to be a Werewolf beneath the Palace. I did sense something dangerous buried underground, so I didn’t go down to check. But then again…” Karina’s tone suddenly shifted.
“Our little Princess has grown up. Your persuasion skills just now were brilliant, you had that Intelligence Manager completely convinced. Only us cultists are good at questioning people like that.”
Hearing her words, my heart tightened. The Princess’s eyes widened in surprise, and she then forced a smile, “Yes, I was really curious about the Werewolf’s true identity.”
“Princess, I’ve told you before, you’re not good at lying. You couldn’t have said that just now. Someone must have been guiding you from behind, right?” Karina said with a laugh, her gaze sweeping across the room.
I’d been discovered. That was my first thought. Although I was confident that my aura concealment was almost perfect, she had overheard the Princess’s conversation and could reasonably infer that there was indeed expert guidance from behind the scenes.
Just as I thought Karina was about to drag me out, she suddenly flicked her sleeve. A black and red spear shot out from her sleeve, piercing the Princess’s shadow.
“Since you’re a fellow believer, why are you still hiding? An aura of the same origin cannot fool a compatriot. Seeing as we are from the same sect, come out and explain yourself, and we can talk properly.”
So it wasn’t me who was discovered, but Via. It’s understandable. Via doesn’t use Murder’s Divine Power to conceal her aura like I do, and she’s also a Gluttony Believer.
“Sister Karina, wait! She’s not an enemy!” the Princess quickly shouted.
“I know, but you’re naive and easily deceived… Huh?” Karina stopped mid-sentence. The spear she had formed with her magic was being corroded by a layer of blood plasma.
Karina’s eyes flashed. The shadow beneath her feet transformed into a demon’s shadow, baring its fangs and claws, and forcefully lunged at the Princess’s shadow, tearing it apart.
A large swarm of flies, mosquitoes, and fleas flew out from the shadow, heading towards Karina. I didn’t see what Karina did, but I felt her magical power surge. All the insects approaching her were enveloped in a black mist and spontaneously combusted.
“A trivial skill, yet you dare to show off in front of me? Go! Hureh!” Karina flicked her sleeve again. All the surrounding insects were crushed by a wave of magical pressure, and Via was flung out from the swarm.
“A Vampire. I’ll capture you and interrogate you slowly,” Karina said, flicking her sleeve again. Five black and red crosses materialized in mid-air and flew towards Via.
The Vampire’s greatest weakness, the Cross, which was also a symbol of Christianity. Karina didn’t hesitate to use the emblems of a rival religion against her foe’s weakness.
Via, unable to evade, showed a terrified expression. At that moment, a semi-ethereal Valkyrie appeared before her, blocking the attack and slicing away the five black crosses with her sword.
“Oh? A Vampire has a Guardian Deity? Interesting, very interesting,” Karina said, flicking a whip from her sleeve, preparing to attack again.
“Maid, stop. It’s me,” I said. I had no intention of revealing myself initially, but this fight was turning into a complete mess and was unnecessary.
“This voice, could it be the Saintess!?” Karina exclaimed in surprise, lowering her whip.
“It is I. This is all a misunderstanding,” I said, lowering my sword as well, signaling that I had no hostile intentions.
“I told you not to fight, sighs…” the Princess sighed. She had good relationships with both sides and felt upset seeing them fight, but unfortunately, no one listened to her.
“I never expected this. The Saintess is a Vampire, and why are you here with the Princess?” Karina retracted her whip.
“I’m not a Vampire, that was just my Guardian Deity. This is Via, she’s Lavias’s daughter,” I introduced.
“I see. Lavias’s daughter. A cute little girl. For your father’s sake, I’ll take good care of you,” Karina said with a smile, extending her hand to pat Via’s golden little head.
“No need! I have nothing to do with him!” Via dodged Karina’s hand with a shake of her head. She was already unhappy from being beaten earlier, and now with Lavias mentioned, Via detested being treated as her father’s appendage.
“Heh heh, the little Vampire is angry. I’m sorry, I was too rough just now. Do you have any issues with your father?” Karina said with a conciliatory smile. She was surprisingly gregarious.
“Don’t mind her, she’s just going through her rebellious phase,” I said with a smile. Via glared at me, “Who’s going through a rebellious phase? I’m not!”
