Chapter 1563: One Against a Hundred
Bloody flies flew towards the Archmage’s magic, while a huge Soul Wall appeared before Karina, blocking seven divine powers. Two Sword Energies bypassed the Soul Wall and lunged towards Karina from the left and right.
In this situation, Karina and we are in the same boat. We can only weather this storm together, or we will all die. So, Via and Lorna made their moves.
“Blood Magic?!” the Archmage exclaimed in surprise. The price of Blood Magic was one’s own blood. Apart from Vampires, few people practiced Blood Magic, as it constantly weakened the user, leading to death from anemia within moments.
Even learning Vampire Magic was more common than Blood Magic. Many Necromancers had learned Vampire Magic, as its price was merely transforming into a Blood Kin. Blood Magic could accidentally kill oneself if one was not careful.
The Archmage’s magic unleashed countless starlights towards Karina. After being blocked by the flies, each starlight shattered a large number of flies. However, the exploding blood mist began to corrode the starlight’s magic, quickly dyeing the starlight blood-red.
Seven divine powers struck the Soul Wall but could not penetrate it at all. The Heavenly Father exclaimed in amazement, “What a strong Mind Barrier! And it carries no evil aura?”
When he initially judged Karina to be of the evil alignment, his divine spells naturally included counter-magic with effects of exorcism and demon dispelling. He had not expected her to unleash a spell that was absolutely neutral and devoid of any evil aura.
The Mind Barrier was a defensive spell that materialized the caster’s inner pain and despair. The greater the pain and despair the caster had experienced, the harder this wall would be.
It was worth mentioning that this spell was not something Lorna learned from anywhere; it was a talent skill she comprehended herself. After enduring twenty years of lonely waiting, and the agony of being separated from her father again just after reuniting, her Mind Barrier was as solid as a golden fortress. During experiments at home, even Older Brother Jayad could not break it; only I could bite through it with the Devouring Art.
Moreover, this spell was very subjective. While it was generally true that more painful experiences made it harder, individuals who were optimistic and mentally strong would release far weaker versions of this spell compared to pessimists and emotional people.
Finally, two sword beams slashed towards Karina. The two Knights who wielded these swords had reached an extremely high level of skill. They were the same ones guarding the entrance just now, only slightly inferior to the Royal Knights who attacked us that night. Their Sword Energies could even curve after being unleashed.
Just as I was about to step forward to help Karina block them, Karina acted on her own. She was truly acting, blocking one sword beam with her left hand and the other with her right.
“Are you crazy?! Don’t you want your hands anymore?” I shouted. No matter how strong she was, she couldn’t possibly block such powerful sword beams with her bare palms. If these two sword beams had struck the palace, they could have easily pierced the outer city wall.
But before I could finish speaking, I saw two mouths open on her palms, one on each hand, their mouths filled with sharp teeth.
Mutation. This was undoubtedly Karina’s physical mutation. But what kind of mutation would give her the confidence to block two sword beams with her bare palms?
As I hesitated, Karina’s hands collided with the sword beams. The mouths on her palms opened wide and swallowed both sword beams simultaneously.
I was rendered speechless. Such a move existed? Such powerful sword beams were simply eaten by her like that? Although she used the authority of Gluttony, I couldn’t perform such a feat.
The powerful individuals on the other side also looked grim. None of them would dare to claim they could withstand a combined attack from ten people simultaneously. Yet Karina had not only blocked everything but seemed to be doing so with ease. At least, this was definitely not her full power.
They didn’t understand that Karina had three accessories with her. But from what they had just witnessed, Karina had successively used Evil Magic, Guardian Deity, Blood Magic, Mind Barrier, and body mutation—so many abilities, yet she controlled them all with such fluidity. Was she even human?
“They’re coming! Everyone be careful!” the old Count shouted, reminding them. The starlights, previously corrupted by Via’s Blood Magic, shot back like a hail of arrows. Simultaneously, Karina, from behind, pushed the large black and yellow ball gathered above her head and threw it over.
“Hmph!” Two Knights stood before everyone, their estocs dancing with blinding speed, blocking all the scattered starlight with their swords.
It was evident that the estoc was not their most proficient weapon. It was likely because heavy weapons were not allowed in the high-security area of the palace, leaving them only with estocs, weapons that reflected status and etiquette.
Even so, their swordsmanship was superb, blocking all the starlight magic. However, as for the sphere condensed with immense magic power behind them, their expressions turned grim, and they felt immense pressure.
“Activate the formation! Quickly open the barrier protecting the palace!” a Civil official shouted. The Archmage reacted immediately, stomping his staff on the floor, and a thick shield rapidly spread along the palace walls.
Although the infirmary floor had been damaged and exposed by the previous battle, the palace protection barrier still unfurled a seal along the original wall’s position, protecting the ministers within.
The giant sphere struck the shield, causing a fierce collision with sparks flying everywhere. Finally, the magic sphere erupted in a massive explosion, making the palace seem as if a small sun had lit up, blindingly dazzling.
The pungent smell of sulfur filled my nostrils. This was undoubtedly power from Hell. The explosion before them caused magic turbulence, and the surrounding magic fell into chaos.
But after the flames dispersed, the palace was unharmed. After all, the barrier protecting the palace had been continuously strengthened by a great family over centuries. Such fortress-level defense could absolutely not be broken by a single person.
“Hahaha! See? Your demonic ways can’t even break a brick, while we can freely fire at you!” a Martial officer roared with villainous laughter.
At this moment, the palace guards finally began to take their positions. Facing Karina, who was clearly an enemy and flying outside the palace, they adopted a focused attack. Various bullets, cannonballs, steel nails, and arrows rained down upon her.
Several of the strong individuals couldn’t help but frown. They were concerned with appearances. Dozens of them fighting one person, and they were forced to hide within the barrier and dared not engage, while the opponent could escape whenever she pleased. This already felt like a defeat.
Moreover, Karina had no intention of leaving. She simply stood in mid-air, seemingly relishing the dense hail of gunfire. All the bullets and steel nails, upon reaching her vicinity, seemed to suddenly bear immense gravity, causing them to fall directly downwards.
Only one peculiar type of gun could hit her. That gun appeared to be a water gun modeled after a proper rifle, with its water tank filled with alchemical potions. Once fired, it turned into a stream of elemental magic.
