Chapter 1647 – Safah’s Regret
“Miss Parul, you’ve arrived. And several other young ladies, please have a seat.” Safah turned and said. Several maids standing in the corner of the room came to move chairs for us.
I noticed that the maids had pistols and daggers strapped to their legs beneath their skirts. I also recognized the two people behind Safah: Elena and Bartholomew.
“Miss Parul, it’s been a long time. Thank you for the potions,” Bartholomew said with a smile. His aura was like a rainbow, with his blood energy radiating outward. This was a sign that he had already begun to break through the limits of a mortal.
The last time we went together to find the egg, Bartholomew had been brave at a crucial moment. He raised the steam machine gun and shot down an Old Demon Hunter, protecting the monster egg.
He also gained the right to deal with the spoils of war left behind by the Old Demon Hunter. Of course, he had no idea how to use those potions and cards. In the end, he gave all the Demon Hunter’s spoils to me and Older Brother Jayad in exchange for two monster cores.
Bartholomew also receivedSafah’s commendation, was promoted to a cadre, and received a large sum of prize money. Afterward, he asked Older Brother Jayad to teach him how to become an extraordinary being.
At his age, over thirty, he had long missed the best time for training and breakthrough. Wanting to become an extraordinary being was a very difficult thing and was practically impossible on his own. No matter how much he trained, he would at most be a strong, capable warrior.
However, Older Brother Jayad happened to know an effective method: using magic potions. As long as one drank Miss Parul’s potions, their strength would advance by leaps and bounds, requiring no effort at all, only money.
So, Older Brother Jayad told him this method. Bartholomew then paid Older Brother Jayad to buy him potions. Brother Jayad told me about this when he got home.
I was a bit amused, but since I knew Bartholomew, I wouldn’t trick him. Therefore, I carefully concocted several potions and had Older Brother Jayad take them to him.
If Little Elaine saw these potions, she would certainly be envious. I only gave her one potion each time, never more. But for Bartholomew, I prepared everything at once. Even a weak, old, sick, or disabled person would be transformed into a formidable warrior after drinking them.
Not to mention Bartholomew, who was already close to the physical limits of a mortal. After digesting the power of these potions, his aura surpassed that of a normal person, and he had now become an extraordinary being.
Because of this, he was highly valued by Safah and was transferred to his side as a bodyguard, accompanying him to all important occasions. Now, Bartholomew’s status within Safah’s organization was rising rapidly, and he had become very popular.
Moreover, I felt a different kind of magic from him: the aura of the One-eyed Tusker Elephant we had killed earlier. It seemed he had sold the other monster core and had someone make it into a Magic Apparatus for him to wear, a magic apparatus that aided in training.
So, of course, he was even more grateful to me, the one who helped him rise to prominence. A fierce-looking gang boss came over and personally moved a chair for me, forcing an awkward smile and pouring me tea.
I appreciated his goodwill, but compared to you, a gang boss, I’d rather have those lovely maids pour me tea.
“Miss Parul, and a few other young ladies, please sit. This VIP room is quite nice; it overlooks the entire venue. You’ll be able to see the entire competition from here later,” Safah said.
“Mm,” I replied indifferently. I felt it was a bit strange. Why did he say we’d be able to see the entire competition later? Didn’t the window in front already offer a view of the whole venue? Did he know the competition format in advance?
“These three young ladies look unfamiliar. Could you introduce them to me?” Safah asked, looking at the Werewolf mother and daughter and Giselle beside me.
Given how highly Safah valued my family, he should have some idea of our family members’ composition. However, the Werewolf mother and daughter were new, and Older Brother Jayad hadn’t even told him about them yet. Giselle had also been in the Hesse Duchy not long ago.
“Giselle, a Thief. Weis and Margaret, these two are from the Holy Roman Empire and are not yet familiar with Castilian. Please excuse us, Mr. Safah,” I said. Each time I introduced someone, they would slightly lift their skirts and bow.
“Thief? This girl, and that one, they have a strong killing intent about them,” Safah said, looking at Giselle and Weis.
He could actually feel the killing intent from those two girls? Not simple. As expected of a gang boss who had been active in the dark world for so many years, without such intuition, he would have died on the road long ago.
It was not strange that he could detect Weis’s killing intent. She hadn’t deliberately concealed it; she even carried a wildness and hostility. She was now like a wild beast caged and brought to the street for everyone to see.
She cowered in a corner, looking at the onlookers with hostility. Everyone was an enemy. This was an instinct for self-protection, so it was easy to see her killing intent.
But it was not simple to detect Giselle’s killing intent. Giselle was not a killer like Weis; she was a true murderer, so she always suppressed her inner killing intent, along with the concealment provided by Murder’s Divine Spell and Shadow Magic.
Under these circumstances, Safah still saw her killing intent. This greatly surprised Giselle, and a cold glint flashed in her eyes.
Elena immediately stepped in front of Safah, her legs in a kicking stance. I heard that Elena was also a killer before and was particularly sensitive to killing intent.
I quickly stepped between them. There was no need to conflict over such a small matter. I should not have brought Giselle. I glanced at Giselle, and she obediently turned her head and retracted her killing intent.
“Heh heh, the killing intent of young ladies these days is quite strong. But guests are guests. No matter what you did before, those who enter are guests. We won’t talk about the past. Elena, stand down.”
Safah probably also sensed that Giselle’s killing intent just now was only the tip of the iceberg, so he gave us a way out. A tense confrontation of killing intent was quickly diffused.
We picked up our tea and snacks and ate and drank as if nothing had happened.
“Sigh, every time I see new unfamiliar girls appearing around Jayad in short intervals, I can’t help but sigh that youth is truly good, full of passion,” Safah said again.
Huh? I was stunned by his sudden remark. Did he misunderstand something? Fortunately, the Werewolf mother and daughter couldn’t understand what he was saying yet, or they would definitely have complained.
Safah continued to talk to himself: “But I’ve never been able to experience this feeling since I was young – the feeling of women. At my age now, I still have no children. This is truly a great regret. Miss Parul, you understand what I mean, right?”
