The Little Witch’s Daily Struggle – Chapter 1655

Chapter 1655: Old Man

Witnessing the tragic deaths of his two companions, the female knight fighting Little Elaine was terrified and turned to flee.
I transmitted a message to Older Brother Jayad through the maggots acting as my mental relay: “Older Brother Jayad, don’t let her escape! I want some armor to study.”
“Huh? Armor, you say? Alright!” Jayad instantly charged out with incredible speed. The female knight was already fast, but Jayad was even faster, catching up to her in an instant.
“Oh? It seems this contestant, who looks like a Holy Knight, is giving chase. Is he not planning to let his opponent go? Will this alluring female knight escape?” a commentator noticed this battle and began to provide his commentary.
Unfortunately, by the time he noticed, the battle was nearing its end. The female knight, seeing Jayad charging at her, hastily unleashed several sword lights and a splitting light orb.
None of this could stop Jayad’s pursuit. He directly cut through the obstructions and, with a swift stride, appeared behind the female knight.
The female knight, her face drained of color, tried to raise her arm blade to block, but it was severed by the Amadeus greatsword, enhanced with sharp wind blades, in two strikes. Jayad then grabbed her by the neck with one hand and lifted her up.
“Oh my! The female knight has been captured. Will she suffer a cruel fate?” the commentator fanned the flames, stirring the crowd’s emotions. Many viewers lamented, as they seldom saw such a beautiful and daring female contestant, and her elimination meant no more eye candy.
The female knight’s limbs twitched feebly as she tried to break free from Older Brother Jayad’s grasp. However, the pervasive, scalding light seemed to solidify, firmly gripping her body.
Older Brother Jayad’s control over light had grown. While it appeared as if she was enveloped in light, I could tell they were tentacles made of light, tightly entwining the female knight’s body.
Ever since transforming into Angel Form and being unable to revert, Older Brother Jayad had been less active. Now, it seemed her control over light had intensified in this form, allowing her to condense light into tangible substance.
At this moment, Jayad hesitated on what to do. Parul had requested the female knight’s armor for research, but she wore only this thin piece of armor, which could self-repair and adhere to its wearer. The light tentacles had failed to pry off the Flowing Silver Armor.
“No, please don’t!” The female knight, filled with extreme fear, pleaded softly, as if seeing something utterly terrifying. Caught by Jayad in Angel Form, it was akin to a close encounter with a high-dimensional being, and the instinctual fear and sense of crisis were overwhelming.
Just then, a beam of light shot from afar, striking Jayad’s light. This light was very similar to Jayad’s, a golden yellow sunshine, but it was even more dazzling and brilliant.
“What? Someone’s unexpectedly playing the hero. Is this the female knight’s companion?” the commentator exclaimed excitedly, his projection quickly zooming in on the source of the light.
It was an old man dressed in extremely bright and gorgeous robes, with red and yellow hues and orange trim. Beneath the robe, armor was visible, and a golden sun emblem with a red ribbon was pinned to his chest.
His appearance was striking, with his beard and hair shimmering with golden-red light, resembling a flickering flame atop his head. His eyes also emanated a blinding white light; people with such overflowing magic were usually very powerful.
He held a peculiar weapon in his hand, resembling a golden-hilted scale, about 1.7 meters tall. It looked like a scepter, but the lower part wasn’t a handle but a sharp blade.
“Hmm? Who are you?” Jayad looked at the old man, sensing a very similar aura, yet one that was alien to her. He also wore an expression of extreme anger.
“Rising Sun Heretic! Die, you impostors!” the old man cursed, raising his hand. A golden beam shot from the top of the scale-staff towards Jayad.
“What? Old man, you’ve got the wrong person?” Jayad, bewildered, blocked the light with her sword. The beam carved a melting trail on the ground, and the residual magic caused a series of small explosions. If it had hit a person, it would have been a direct cauterization.
Jayad was pushed back by the light but continued to hold the female knight, intending to use her as a hostage if the attacker’s aim was to rescue her.
Unexpectedly, seeing that Jayad had not released the female knight, the old man frowned and ceased the scalding light. “I haven’t mistaken you. That loathsome light of yours. I’ll give you time to deal with that female knight, then we’ll have a fair Duel.”
What? The entire audience gasped. Many thought they had misheard. This righteous old man wasn’t there to save the female knight, but had come to duel Jayad simply because he disliked the light emanating from her?
At this point, the commentator finally found the information. He announced loudly: “This contestant in the striking red and yellow robe holding a scale is the honorary lifetime Archmage of the Supreme Court from Madrid, Master Pisako!”
Huh? He’s a judge? Why would an Archmage participate in a Knight Competition? Although someone of his status would certainly hold a noble title, why would a judge be fighting?
Furthermore, I couldn’t fathom why he would hold a grudge against Older Brother Jayad. He just mentioned “Rising Sun Heretics” and that her light displeased him. Could this be a religious conflict?
Older Brother Jayad was also very confused. However, the rule of this competition was a free-for-all. Regardless of the reason, whether it was a grudge, dislike, or perceived weakness, attacking was normal.
He even gave Jayad time to deal with the prisoner, which could be considered chivalrous. Of course, he wouldn’t wait too long. Even I could feel his anger, like a suppressed volcano, ready to erupt at any moment.
Jayad swung her sword at the female knight. The female knight, despairing, closed her eyes, awaiting death. Instead of pain, she felt a coolness as the Flowing Silver Armor detached.
From my perspective, Older Brother Jayad’s sword precisely cleaved the Flowing Silver Armor. The scalding light melted the metal, and then wind power was used to forcibly strip the molten armor from the female knight, shaping it into a ball.
“Ooooh!!” the audience collectively cheered, witnessing a beautiful spectacle. Although, the female knight seemed less alluring without the Flowing Silver Armor.
Jayad left the ball of molten silver and flung the naked female knight away, tossing her to Little Elaine. “Send her off with a Blood Feast, and you can absorb her power now.”

You hear the penny-dreadful tales, don’t you? Souls whisked off to other worlds, landing in lives of ease and splendor. Reborn as young lords in grand manors, with enchanted baubles at their fingertips or a spectral mentor whispering secrets. But my own ‘grand arrival’? No gentle angel to light the path. Instead, a repulsive, foul deity—some forgotten horror from a darker age—claimed me. I was tormented to the very edge of oblivion, then pitched into a twisted, gaslit world of shadows and fear. I awoke in the frail body of an orphan girl, shivering in some rat-infested rookery, choked by smog and despair. Weak, plagued by illness, with a hunger that gnawed relentlessly. My new story didn’t start from scratch; it began deep in the dregs, clawing my way up from less than nothing.” Now, all I fight for is to live, to see another grimy sunrise over these cobbled streets. Not just for my own skin, but for him—the one whose fate is tangled with mine, the one soul I cling to in this godforsaken, fog-drenched city.
