Chapter 1745 Hellfire
I walked to the front of the crowd. The two Usharbits immediately tightened their dual blades, their eyes bursting with blue light.
As expected, they had already awakened and activated long ago, poised to strike. If I dared to approach, they would surely launch a torrential assault upon me.
However, since we were already enemies, the Tomb Master’s actions were merely a show of force. I did not hesitate and struck directly. Countless maggots flew from my left arm, transforming into flies and swarming towards the Usharbits.
The two Usharbits moved simultaneously, their movements jerky like a mechanical doll or a sculpture, but incredibly swift. Wielding their scimitars, they lunged at me.
It was clear the Tomb Master could already see the scene here. Otherwise, the constructs wouldn’t automatically react to a swarm of tiny insects. The Tomb Master had ordered them to actively attack me.
But they were inevitably covered by my flies. Those large scimitars couldn’t cut through insects. As soon as the flies landed on the Usharbits, they immediately burrowed into the gaps in their armor.
I raised my hand and shot out two frost rays, which were blocked by the Usharbits raising their scimitars. Although a layer of ice formed on the blades, it didn’t affect their use. One of them directly swung its blade towards my neck.
I instantly vanished from my spot. This was a spell learned from Giselle, Shadow Step. It was a type of Shadow-based Spell, but also a Divine Spell bestowed by the Lord of Murder, commonly used during acts of slaughter.
I reappeared directly behind one of the Usharbits and raised my magic wand, intending to cast a spell on it. But the Usharbit immediately spun around and swung its blade. Its lower body remained still, but its upper body rotated a full circle from the waist, striking at me with lightning speed.
“Clang!” I blocked the blow, not with my original abilities, but with my newly acquired, mutated Wind Spirit Claws.
The claws, wrapped in a gentle breeze, gripped the massive blade. I seized the opportunity to unleash a frost ray at the Usharbit’s waist, freezing its movable waist joints. The other massive blade, attempting to attack me, also couldn’t turn.
The Usharbits’ special Spiritual materials offered some resistance to magic. However, the magic used in my frost ray was transmitted from my Guardian Deity. The magic power was drawn from Weis’s Wolfheart, possessing extreme cold capable of freezing everything. Even Usharbits with such high magic resistance couldn’t be completely immune.
But at the same moment, the other Usharbit, having briefly lost its target, swung at me, attempting to save its companion. Its speed was astonishingly fast, truly a War Machine crafted from the souls of the most valiant warriors.
Yet, it suddenly faltered halfway, its movements becoming sluggish and twitchy, as if it had rusted. This gave me the time to retreat calmly.
Flies crawled in and out of the gaps in its armor. If the tomb’s owner believed that the Usharbits’ Spiritual materials and the essence of their souls wouldn’t be corrupted by mere insects, they were gravely mistaken. The flies of Gluttony devoured everything, including souls.
“Boom!” Both Usharbits were engulfed in blue冥火 (Netherflame). Countless flies turned to ash in the flames, and their bodies regained their fluid movements. This was Anubis’s Netherflame.
According to the knowledge in my mind, the reason why Usharbits could manifest different forms based on the beliefs of the souls used to create them was to preserve some of the Divine Spells bestowed by the Egyptian gods during their lives.
This was an advanced technique far beyond the reach of Undead Magic from other factions. Typical Undead Magic could, at best, resurrect the deceased with their own abilities. It was almost impossible to retain the power granted by gods; that would be blasphemy.
But the priests of Egypt had achieved it. Although it was still a gift from their own gods, they had indeed developed miracles that other schools of Undead Magic could not achieve.
Clearly, these two dog-headed Usharbits had retained the power of the Death God Anubis. Within the Netherflame, not only were my flies incinerated, but even the ice melted. They lunged at me once more.
This time, the runes on their golden scimitars flickered with blue Spiritual Light, symbolizing the Death God’s power to reap life. Any soul struck by them would surely be taken, disregarding physical defense. Even the Wind Spirit Claws couldn’t block this.
I skillfully maneuvered, using one Usharbit to block the other, preventing them from attacking me simultaneously. As the Usharbit close to me swung its blade, I also struck back with my magic wand in my left hand.
“Parul!” Older Brother Jayad called out worriedly, as the Usharbits blocked his view, preventing him from seeing my situation. But Giselle said, “Please rest assured, Master is fine.”
“Crack!” They only saw a semi-transparent cyan claw tear open the back of the Usharbit, then the claw spread outwards, ripping the opening into a large hole.
Only then could Older Brother Jayad see my condition. My left hand held a polearm scythe inverted, parrying their dual blades, while my right hand, transformed into a claw, stabbed forward, digging into the Usharbit’s chest.
This was a Divine Spell of the Lord of Murder, the Death God’s Scythe. Or rather, many Death Gods possessed this universal Divine Spell. Like the Spiritual Light on the Usharbits’ scimitars, it represented the Death God’s authority over the reaping of life. Only soul blades of the same nature could parry each other.
The Usharbit angrily raised its dual blades and struck down again. I hadn’t expected it to still be functional with a hole in its chest, and its strength was immense, shattering my Death God’s Scythe. After all, I was not skilled in close combat, and my understanding of the Murder’s Divine Spell was not yet perfect.
However, this was enough. I retreated directly, the scythe transforming back into a magic wand. I unleashed Demon’s Fire at its chest and also swung my Wind Spirit Claws.
The wind fanned the flames. With a sweep of the Wind Spirit Claws, the Demon’s Fire turned into a sea of flames, engulfing the Usharbit. Even as it wildly swung its two massive blades, it couldn’t prevent the demonic flames from entering its wounds. The other Usharbit, attempting to flank me, was also blocked by the sea of fire.
“Boom!” The injured Usharbit suddenly erupted in flames. The Demon’s Fire burned into its body, directly consuming its soul and magic power as fuel, burning fiercely.
After witnessing Karina use evil magic, I gained a profound understanding of such spells. The current Demon’s Fire was truly fire taken from Hell, capable of burning even souls.
The Usharbit was engulfed in flames, the fire gushing out from within its body. Even its eyes, which originally emitted a faint blue glow, now spewed Demon’s Fire. Soon, it exploded, scattering gold, bone fragments, and shards of Spiritual materials across the ground.
I heard the screams of souls, the wails of souls tormented by Hellfire. Since gaining the power of the Lord of Murder, I could communicate with the Undead to some extent even without using the Spirit Communication Technique.
