Chapter 1806: The Reason for Falling
Simply put, they were from a primitive matriarchal tribal group. The reason they wore so little was because the rainforest there was too hot, and it has since become a tradition, though it is indeed beneficial for movement.
As for fearing mosquitoes and venomous snakes, that’s not an issue. The firm muscles and skin of these girls, after training, are as hard as steel and cannot be bitten through.
Their names are also very strange, all abbreviated by birds, such as Blood Raven, Death Sparrow, and Icy Crow. One of them, who was more cooperative, said that they actually had names, but they were now ashamed of the names bestowed by their parents and were unwilling to mention them again, only using their codenames within the organization.
This might also be a habit from their time as demons, as a demon’s true name cannot be casually revealed. If one knows a demon’s true name, they can easily use a ritual to make the demon sign many unequal contracts, thereby controlling it.
Even for ordinary people, knowing their true name could very likely result in a curse, so they still don’t trust me.
Of course, I could force them to tell me their true names through commands, but it’s unnecessary and redundant. I don’t need them to be completely subservient to me. I only need them to not betray me and to normally obey orders.
Then, I asked them how they fell and became demons. This was like a public execution for them; that memory was definitely unbearable.
The first person I asked was the traitor. I used a command to force her to speak, and she could only honestly say, “I did it for eternal life. I heard that demons have everlasting life and ageless beauty. I also coveted the power of demons.”
What a pathetic person. Hearing her frank confession, the other five rioters glared at her furiously, especially her former companion, who cursed, “For such a reason, you sold out the organization? Led us into a demon’s trap?!”
“The Sisterhood was just using us, making us fight demons. All the older sisters are dead. By making you fall, at least you are alive today. If I hadn’t done it, you would have died long ago!” the traitor argued.
“Shut up! There is no one in the Sisterhood who fears death. You would rather go to hell and endure inhuman torture just to survive. It’s simply too foolish!” another rioter said.
I also think they are right. No one respects a traitor, not even demons. Demons prefer souls that are tenacious and unyielding, strong and persistent. Such pure, translucent souls are the most valuable.
This is also reflected in the traitor’s treatment. According to them, she sold out her sisters and led an entire team into an ambush, sacrificing dozens of rioters together.
What was the result? She became only a low-level demon, not much stronger than her other sisters. Perhaps a bit stronger, but compared to Older Brother Jayad, she was no different from a chicken.
Her appearance was completely distorted. Before, she looked incredibly ferocious, but now she has regained the beauty of her youth. Not all demons are ugly; succubi, for example, are not. But she didn’t even qualify to become a mid-level demon.
Finally, there is eternal life, which she indeed has. However, low-level demons are treated poorly. They can only live in the most desolate regions of hell, constantly fighting with other low-level demons for food. Although demons do not starve to death, they feel the pain of hunger.
Even so, she wants to be a demon again. I can only say she is a pure clown, a resolute human traitor.
“Okay, I’ll allow you to discipline her normally. Just don’t kill her. I can heal any severe injuries,” I said.
Seeing that she still shows no remorse, I think it’s better for them to handle it internally. Otherwise, she might still scheme against me.
“No! Please, don’t!” the traitor cried in terror. She knew what fate awaited her in the hands of her former sisters; they would not let her off easily.
“Really? Then thank you so much, Master,” the rioters asked in surprise. After a moment’s hesitation, they still called me Master.
I ignored the traitor. She deserved her fate. Afterward, they became much more cooperative, each telling me how they fell. First was the one who was betrayed.
“You should know my situation. I was in the same battalion as her. Her status was even higher than mine. I never expected her to willingly fall and lead us into a demon’s trap. I struggled for about a week, but ultimately could not avoid becoming a demon.”
The other two rioters also said, “We are younger sisters. Our camp was overrun by a demon attack. We fought with all our might but were no match for them. We were severely injured and captured. The demons committed brutal atrocities against us, violating us for three days and three nights, and finally, I couldn’t bear it anymore and chose to surrender.”
“That’s not true. My sister could have endured longer, but she couldn’t bear to see me continue to suffer, so she chose to yield,” the younger sister rioter said.
“I accidentally drank water polluted by demons. For the next month, I could hear demonic whispers and see illusions. I held out for about half a year, but my body started showing signs of mutation. Fearing I would be burned to death, I fled voluntarily,” said the fifth rioter.
What she said is quite true. Demonic erosion is insidious. Once exposed, escape is impossible.
Simultaneously, due to the irreversible nature of demonic erosion, many church organizations adopted extreme measures. As soon as they discovered a subordinate mutating, they would execute them immediately, burning them to ashes to prevent the spread of demonic power.
The last one was the most special. Actually, from the moment she regained consciousness, she had been in a dazed state. When it was my turn to question her, she replied in panic, “Yes! I, didn’t I die?”
“You died? No, of course not. Aren’t you standing right here, perfectly fine?” I asked, baffled. She wasn’t an Undead, after all.
“I, I remember being killed in battle?! While fighting demons, I woke up later to find myself in a prison. I crawled out of a stone coffin, already turned into a demon’s minion,” the last person said in a timely manner.
She spoke softer and softer as she said it, clearly piecing together the events and how she became a demon. She was likely corrupted by a demon at the moment of her death, then slowly transformed and resurrected within the coffin.
I had never heard of demonic power being able to bring people back from the dead. Logically, she should have been completely dead by now, yet she is lively in front of me. I am very sure that she is a genuine living person now, not an Undead. I wonder if her resurrection is thanks to the demons or Older Brother Jayad’s immense power.
