Chapter 1865: The Goddess’s Trial
“What are you doing? Why are you suddenly shouting so loud?” Lorna was startled and covered her head. Her All-Seeing Eye hadn’t fully recovered yet.
Her All-Seeing Eye couldn’t hear the sounds at the scene either, but I could. I had placed a maggot on Older Brother Jayad.
“That, that woman, Alicia, she said she wants to propose to Older Brother Jayad!” I said in exasperation.
In reality, her original words were still under consideration, but in my haste, I exaggerated a little and instinctively leaned toward Older Brother Jayad, directly calling it a proposal.
Lorna’s gaze sharpened instantly, but she was still somewhat confused. “Oh, is that the girl from the Bourbon family you mentioned? When you analyzed her for me before, didn’t you say she was definitely lusting after Jayad’s body? Since your prediction was correct, why are you so surprised?”
“I think there’s a difference between suspecting her as a criminal and confirming her as a criminal!” I said. Lorna’s situation wasn’t resolved yet, and now Alicia appeared. It never ends!
“Don’t get worked up. Didn’t several girls just fawn over your brother? You weren’t this agitated then,” Lorna said.
“That’s different. Who would bother with a few little girls? They can’t even meet Older Brother Jayad. But Alicia is different. She’s the Crown Prince’s sister, the Eldest Miss of the Bourbon family,” I said angrily.
“Don’t worry, you’ll be worried later. Can you relay their conversation to me first?” Lorna asked, but she clearly wasn’t as relaxed as her tone suggested. Her expression was quite cold.
“I refuse.” Jayad directly rejected her. What a joke. The group of girls at his home hadn’t even sorted out their relationships yet, so how could he marry a girl he didn’t even know well?
“Huh?” Alicia was stunned. She had some confidence in her beauty and didn’t expect to be rejected outright by Jayad. She hadn’t anticipated this at all.
“Don’t you want to hear the reason and my conditions?” Alicia immediately changed her approach. “I can persuade my brother to grant you noble status, even a Count, not just a Knight.”
Alicia’s first condition was incredibly generous. Becoming a noble with a fief, joining the ranks of nobility, not only would one have wealth and power, but future generations could also inherit their title and fief. It could be said to be a position that anyone would dream of.
Jayad was even moved for a moment. He had worked so hard for a citizen’s certificate or a knight’s title, and now Alicia was offering a Count’s title. This was too generous and magnanimous.
“Brother, don’t agree to her. With your excellent performance, the Crown Prince might have already intended to win you over by granting you nobility. This is just her trying to get something for nothing,” I reminded him through the maggot, lest Older Brother Jayad be deceived.
“I’m sorry, I still refuse. I have no desire to be a noble or to be at someone’s beck and call,” Older Brother Jayad refused.
“Then what do you want? Magic Apparatus, armor, wealth, I can provide you with anything,” Alicia said generously. Although she was just an illegitimate daughter, she still inherited a lot of family wealth.
“I lack nothing, and I need nothing. Instead, I’d like to ask Miss Alicia, what do you see in me? I don’t think I have any remarkable qualities. We just met a few days ago, and there’s no reason for marriage,” Jayad retorted.
“I see your strength, and I fell in love with you at first sight. I think you are a true man worthy of me. Is that not acceptable?” Alicia said.
“Since Miss Alicia doesn’t want to answer, then please allow me to refuse. Farewell,” Jayad said and turned to leave.
“Hey?! Don’t go! Wait!” Seeing Jayad turn to leave, Alicia cried out anxiously, but Jayad showed no intention of stopping.
“Fine, I’ll tell you, alright?” Alicia finally couldn’t hold back and said loudly. Jayad then stopped.
“I can tell you, but if I do, you cannot tell anyone else, and you must agree to my request,” Alicia tried to set conditions again.
“I can only say that I will seriously consider your request, but I will absolutely not consider it if you don’t explain the cause and effect clearly,” Jayad gave no substantive guarantee.
“You’ve already realized that I have divine power from six goddesses, but only four goddesses consider me their chosen one; two still haven’t given me that position,” Alicia said.
“I seem to recall it was Juno, the Queen of the Gods, and Venus, the Goddess of Beauty, right?” Jayad recalled their previous conversation.
“Yes, each goddess has corresponding trials. For example, Diana requires me to hunt a monster under the moonlight at night, and Minerva requires me to solve a city-level development problem with wisdom. Only by completing the trials can I become a chosen one,” Alicia said.
As she spoke of the trials, I considered the remaining two goddesses and their respective domains, and suddenly understood why she wanted to propose marriage to Older Brother Jayad.
As expected, Alicia continued: “The remaining two goddesses, Juno, the Queen of the Gods, represents women, marriage, and maternal love. Her trial requires me to get married. Venus is the goddess of love and beauty. Her trial is to seduce a man and dedicate herself to him.”
Tsk! These two goddesses are so tricky. Such trials could only be undertaken by girls. Of course, depending on the individual, the trials proposed by the gods might be different.
“I understand,” Jayad said solemnly, but he then asked, “I understand the logic, but Miss Alicia, why me? With your status, finding a handsome and elegant noble young man should be easy. Why come to me? We’ve only known each other for a short time.”
“It’s not that simple to find someone the goddesses require. Even a spouse has strict requirements. At least a heroic figure would be considered a qualified trial. And from my observations, your strength should meet the requirements of a hero,” Alicia said.
I’m starting to understand. Ancient Greek myths are all heroic legends, where those who dominated and were invincible were great heroes with divine blood.
In modern times, demigods with divine blood factors are hard to find. However, Jayad, who is favored by the gods, especially by multiple gods together, should still meet the conditions.
No wonder she kept saying she wanted to duel Older Brother Jayad and see his true face. It was all a test, a setup.
“Older Brother Jayad, please ask a question for me,” I suddenly transmitted, and had my brother verbalize it. “Three of the four goddesses who favor you are virgins. Won’t you lose their power after losing your virginity?”
