Chapter 1918 Astonished Karina
The magic circle itself was a demon summoning technique. Via, Sherris, and Giselle, who were already followers of Demon Gods and arguably not even human, were naturally unaffected by the same source of demonic energy.
However, the rioters, who no longer believed in Demon Gods and had returned to their human forms, could not directly pass through this demon summoning circle.
Actually, summoning people from Iberia to the Holy Roman Empire wouldn’t require this much demonic energy. I infused the remaining Gluttony demonic energy into them through a ritual, corrupting them further. These rioters should now be called Gluttony Apostles.
“Saintess, are these the subordinates you summoned? Wait! Are they fallen rioters?” Karina walked over and immediately recognized the women wearing revealing leather armor, identifying their origin.
I had instructed the rioters beforehand not to speak out of turn and to avoid conflict with others without my command. So, they stood still. However, discovering that someone recognized them was quite unexpected, and surprise flickered across their faces.
“Saintess, why did you summon these fallen rioters? Aren’t they subordinates of the King of Destruction?” Karina asked with some confusion. She herself was a follower of the King of Destruction, but she didn’t recall the Saintess being one.
Then, her eyes widened in shock. “No! They aren’t followers of the King of Destruction, they’re from the Gluttony Demon King! Impossible, why is this happening?”
Karina had a dual identity, so she was keenly aware of the distinctions between the two cults. Fallen rioters were mortal female warriors corrupted by demons under the King of Destruction Baal, and they could act normally in the mortal realm.
However, the Gluttony Demon King’s forces supposedly didn’t have demons corrupted from mortals like these. At least, the rioters from the Sisterhood of the Blind didn’t. Neither Karina herself nor any other followers had ever seen such beings.
“I don’t know either. I just summoned them casually, and these fallen rioters appeared. I thought they were originally like this,” I lied casually.
“But the Gluttony Demon King shouldn’t have fallen rioters under him. Have you asked them about their origin?” Karina remained somewhat incredulous.
“I did. They are from the Sisterhood of the Blind in Iberia. They said they were ambushed by demons and, after being completely wiped out, were corrupted. Afterward, they were in a daze and were inexplicably summoned back to the Human Realm by me. They don’t know how it happened either,” I told Karina the fabricated story I had prepared.
Karina knew I lived in Iberia, so if she knew about fallen rioters, she probably also knew about the Sisterhood of the Blind being in Iberia.
What she didn’t know was that these fallen rioters were indeed initially minions of the King of Destruction when summoned, or rather, corrupted by demons under his command. However, Older Brother Jayad had “cleaned them up,” and then I had “re-dyed” them with Gluttony divine power.
Karina, still unconvinced, questioned them. The rioters had already gone over their story with me. Their only response was, “I don’t know, it was always like this.” Moreover, they couldn’t speak German or English, making proper communication difficult.
“That’s not strange. Gods are great, and they are all the same God. It’s normal for them to borrow subordinates from each other. Besides, we mortals are so insignificant; it’s normal not to understand the full might of the gods,” I explained further.
“Uh, indeed…” Karina couldn’t refute my statement. Mortals seeing gods were like looking at flowers through fog, only seeing a sliver of the iceberg. Who would dare claim to fully understand a god?
My explanation, by analogy, was like this: there was a major capitalist who owned two different companies, one in food processing and the other in the military industry. They seemed completely unrelated, but the Chairman was the same person.
One day, the food processing plant needed more staff, so the Chairman transferred a few people from the military enterprise to help. It sounded absurd, but it could also be explained logically.
But as I said, mortals couldn’t make assumptions about gods. What didn’t exist before doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist now. You hadn’t seen it before, but now you have.
Karina shook her head, calming her doubts, and looked at the other four people. The first to catch her eye was the black-robed person floating strangely in mid-air.
“Is that a guardian! Saintess, is this your second guardian?” Karina quickly recognized the peculiar being’s identity as a Witch’s guardian.
But her previous guardian had already astonished Karina. She had never seen such an exquisite guardian before, one that could fully convey its master’s will, unleash its true form’s spells, possess powerful armament, and have an indestructible defense.
A Witch would need to spend her entire life’s effort to create just one such high-quality guardian. Yet, the Saintess’s second summoned guardian possessed an even more potent soul aura, with a soul quality and density far greater than that of a Valkyrie.
This was natural. The core of the first guardian was merely a Witch’s soul. While the other equipment was made from monster souls, Older Brother Jayad didn’t possess such strength back then, and the monsters were relatively low-level.
However, the second guardian was unprecedentedly made using a Nascent Soul and a Lich’s soul. Few Witches could obtain such materials.
Then, with the outbreak of corruption and Older Brother Jayad’s growing strength, the power levels of the monsters around Cando City also rose. Older Brother Jayad hunted more and stronger monsters to use as materials for my guardian.
The second guardian, the Ethereal Walker, created with this foundation, was far superior to the Valkyrie in overall strength.
“Yes, didn’t I tell you I was going to meet some collaborators? But I also have to deal with the Life Tree Seed matter, so I sent an extra clone to be in charge of it,” I said.
To meet a group of people, sending such a powerful guardian, Karina felt suspicious. Was this black-robed anomaly the Saintess’s strongest guardian? Perhaps she had more, and even stronger, guardians?
Seeing Karina’s newfound respect, I felt she had misunderstood something else. I quickly said, “That’s not important. Come, let me introduce you to the others.”
“You’re Weis, right? Lavias’s daughter, we meet again.” Karina directly addressed Via, the cute, girl-next-door blonde with twin tails. Her Blood Energy seemed even stronger than before, as if a sea of blood unfolded before Karina’s eyes.
“Greetings, Maid-sama,” Via said politely, curtsying. However, her address carried a hint of mockery. They had a confrontation the last time they met.
She then looked at Sherris and Giselle. Karina hadn’t met these two women before, but they both gave her a strange feeling.
