In a very short time, Mari’s long, dark, and beautiful hair turned white, white scales grew on her skin, and a white snake tail emerged from under her kimono.
“Is she a snake person? Or Naga? Medusa?” the Twin younger sister asked. All three were Otherworldly beings with some snake characteristics.
“Neither, she’s an Eastern Ying person. How could she be one of those three races? She just mutated, and it’s really neither here nor there,” I replied.
Only a small portion of Mari’s body had mutated. Her left arm and the portion from her shoulder to her hips and legs were covered in snake scales. About a quarter of her face was covered in scales, her left eye became a vertical pupil like a reptile’s, and two fangs grew in her mouth, with a forked tongue.
“Hiss!” Mari, now half-demonized, lunged at Lorna, who was held mid-air. The giant Angel stretched out two arms, slapping at Mari from left and right as if swatting flies.
Mari slashed her dual blades left and right, the Flying Flame on her blades turning from purple-white to pure purple. Then, she was heavily struck by the Angel’s large hand and fell from mid-air.
The audience started watching in confusion. They couldn’t see the Angel, but they could see Mari’s demonization. From their perspective, Lorna had used a levitation spell to fly mid-air, and Mari jumped up to pursue her. Then, she was suddenly attacked mid-air by something unknown, severely injured, her hands and feet twisted as if fractured, and she fell from mid-air.
Mari then got up again, her twisted body rapidly recovering. Her impact resistance and recovery abilities had greatly improved. Furthermore, the wounds on the palms of the two white, withered large hands in mid-air quickly turned black and then spread rapidly up the arms. The two blades were imbued with potent snake venom, a deadly poison capable of killing even an Angel’s physical body. If the poison spread to the Angel’s main body, or even to Lorna herself, she could be in mortal danger.
“Crack!” Just then, the golden rings connecting the arms to the main body twisted open. The two poisoned arms detached from the main body and dissolved into golden particles mid-air. So the arms were actually detachable. I had always thought those metal-like ring structures were decorations, but they were actually connection points. It seemed Lorna’s Angel was more like a construct.
As Mari weakly got up and her body was recovering, eyes opened simultaneously on all eight wings. Their golden pupils were exactly the same as Lorna’s, staring intently at Mari. Then, all eight eyes simultaneously shot out beams of light, very similar to the beams Lorna had released with her Page Hammer earlier, but thicker and more powerful.
“Ugh!” Mari brandished her dual blades, defenseless. Rain couldn’t get in as she constantly blocked the beams being shot at her with her dual blades. Her movements became faster and more unnatural. It looked like the mutation had turned all her bones into cartilage, allowing her to swing her blades in various unexpected poses. Unfortunately, if she had used this posture to fight someone, she would have been very strong and bizarre. But now, she was facing the Angel’s bombardment. This surprise tactic was exposed before she could even get close and was useless for blocking the light beams.
The light beams shot from Lorna’s Angel Form each held the power of a mid-level offensive Divine Spell, and they were fired in rapid succession. The eight eyes acted like rapid-fire cannons, bombarding Mari relentlessly. Mari was blasted backward with each step, quickly forced to the edge of the duelling ground. The purple Flying Flame on her dual blades was also consumed more and more. The light beams hitting her blades caused Holy Light explosions. While they didn’t cause much physical damage, they continuously impacted her Spirit and Magic Power within her body, causing her magic to become chaotic and her face to turn pale.
If things continued like this, Mari would surely die. She finally decided to go all out, opened her mouth, and spat out a mouthful of black-purple venom. The venom sprayed against the current of Holy Light like a high-pressure water hose, directly at Lorna.
And then there was nothing else. The Angel extended a hand and easily blocked the venom. Although this hand immediately developed a large corrosive pit, even piercing the Holy Light Shield on the arm, that was all. Once the arm detached from the body, it was fine. Lorna’s Angel still had three arms left, while Mari’s face turned ashen, her hands hanging limply. The venom she had just sprayed seemed to have exhausted her remaining strength.
Numerous Tentacles suddenly emerged from the ground, binding the little white snake tightly. Mari tried to struggle, but couldn’t even hold her blades. It turned out that during the light beam bombardment, Lorna had already extended her root-like tentacles underground. They suddenly emerged, catching Mari completely off guard. Even without a surprise attack, Mari felt she wouldn’t have been able to hold on much longer. The tentacles quickly burrowed under her kimono and slithered over her skin, the slippery sensation making Mari feel creepy. As the tentacles spread towards her groin, she finally couldn’t help but yell, “Stop! I surrender!”
“Mari is out of combat! The winner is the mercenary Lorna! Everson claims two victories and wins this wager!” the referee announced loudly. The Angel released Lorna, and as Lorna slowly descended, the Angel also gradually disappeared. The tentacles that bound Mari also dissipated. Mari collapsed onto the ground, her pale face flushed red, her mouth agape, panting heavily.
“I told you, didn’t I? You can start preparing to call someone else Master,” Lorna said, walking up to Mari. Mari wanted to say something, but she couldn’t utter a single word. Lorna spoke the truth; she was about to change masters directly.
Many people didn’t even understand what was happening in the match. They probably only saw Lorna fly into mid-air and launch a barrage of Divine Spells at the ground, blasting Mari down. Mari’s desperate counterattack had no effect. In any case, it was confusing to watch. Gaspar, who had lost the match, had a face flushed as if it were bleeding. He was furious, but couldn’t act on it. Jayad smiled and asked, “Mr. Gaspar, it seems I’ve won. What do you say?” Gaspar was so angry he wanted to curse, but as he tried to speak, he suddenly froze. He then took several deep breaths, seemingly forcing himself to calm down. When he looked up again, he wore a gentle smile. “As expected of Mr. Everson. All your subordinates are exceptional. I am impressed. I am not as skilled as you. I accept my loss. Those three Female Slaves are now yours.” We were all surprised. He had looked enraged just moments ago, but now he was smiling and accepting his loss. There was something suspicious going on.
