## Chapter 2094 – The Puppet Theater
“Where is it?” the robed and crowned man asked. Although his voice was amplified and distorted, making him sound like a major villain, it was undeniably Older Brother Jayad’s voice.
“In the Atlantic Ocean, off the west coast of North Africa, in the Madeira Islands. It’s an island of shadow that doesn’t exist on any map. It’s actually submerged, only surfacing at specific times of the year, supposedly during the first month, when the Red Moon is full,” the Yellow King believer replied respectfully.
“So, that’s in half a month?” I muttered to myself, looking at the stage.
“Mhm, yes, the full Red Moon is in the middle of the month, and the Magic Tide will be at its peak then,” a Little Girl’s voice chimed in.
Older Brother Jayad wasn’t very knowledgeable about astronomy or geography, but I was. The three moons of this world also had phases, and they weren’t entirely the same as in reality.
For instance, the Green Moon, when full, didn’t look entirely round. Faint cracks could be seen on its surface, like a shattered mirror reassembled.
And the Blue Moon, when it was waning, didn’t become a half-moon or a crescent like the moon in my previous life. It looked more like it had been nibbled on, with irregular dark patches where parts were missing. I guessed that the other two moons reflecting light from different angles allowed the Blue Moon to still be dimly illuminated, or perhaps it emitted its own faint light, preventing it from being completely invisible.
The Red Moon was indeed the most similar to the moon of my previous life, with its regular phases. From a crescent to a full moon, it was very much like my previous life’s moon, and it was always full around the fifteenth of each month.
Because Weis and Margaret, mother and daughter were both werewolves, they were affected by the full moon and would become violent. They needed to take wolfsbane potions in advance to suppress their berserk states, so we paid close attention to the full moon times of the three moons.
About half a month ago, when we explored a tomb and sacrificed a Lich, we summoned the King in Yellow. It gave Older Brother Jayad a mission: to go to Atos Island in a month and disrupt a transaction.
Now, shortly after the New Year, the full moon of the first month would be on the fifteenth, which was less than two weeks away. The time pointed out by the King in Yellow coincided with Atos Island’s surfacing.
At this moment, Older Brother Jayad, still hanging on the stage, asked, “Where did you get this news? An island sunk into the sea, there shouldn’t be many who know about it, right?”
“When we heard it was an island, we immediately went to ask fishermen and merchants by the sea, but they didn’t know much. We only found an Old Captain who happened to know. According to him, Atos Island is said to be inhabited by a group of Otherworldly beings, and pirates and some religious figures go there to conduct transactions with them. So, it’s quite well-known among pirates,” the Yellow King believer said.
I see, so Atos Island, like the Mermaid’s Azure Reef, is a settlement of Otherworldly beings, which is why people go there to interact with them. However, it doesn’t seem as famous as Azure Reef.
“What kind of Otherworldly beings are they, and which pirates and religious figures are involved in the transactions? Our mission should be to disrupt their trade,” Jayad asked. This Intelligence was crucial.
Unexpectedly, the Yellow King believers all shook their heads and replied, “We don’t know. The Old Captain became somewhat hesitant when he reached this point. He said that most people who get involved with that island go mad, and those who have done business there also eventually descend into madness and commit suicide by jumping into the sea. He only heard rumors about the rest.”
“Eventually go mad and commit suicide by jumping into the sea. So the key is what Otherworldly beings are on the island, and which religion the religious figures belong to. The pirates shouldn’t be the main focus,” I took out my notebook and recorded the key points.
“Hee hee, which religion? What other religion could it be but the Deep Sea Church,” the Little Girl’s voice giggled again.
“The Deep Sea Church? I’ve never heard of it. Is that… Wait! Bailing Ding, Lorna, are you two talking to me?” I suddenly realized and whipped my head around. I discovered that Bailing Ding and Lorna, who were sitting beside me, had disappeared at some point.
A chill shot up my neck. I didn’t even know when they vanished, and who was talking to me? I hadn’t even noticed that these weren’t the familiar voices of my sisters.
Older Brother Jayad and the Yellow King believers were still on stage discussing specific Intelligence and actions, but his voice began to fade and grow distant, as if he were no longer in the same world as me. Noticing this, I released a lot of germs and flies around me to act as sentries, while also attempting to send a telepathic message to Older Brother Jayad. The only ones who could be targeting me now were those two, Despair Double Sound. I just hadn’t expected them to dare attack me at this opportune moment.
All my telepathic messages to Older Brother Jayad vanished like stones sinking into the sea, with no response. He was merely talking to the Yellow King believers on stage. Their movements were like an opera, their speech like singing, and the background became increasingly realistic, as if they were truly standing in the ruins of a city.
“Well done, excellent performance,” a Little Girl’s voice said. Then, applause came from both sides, as two puppets clapped. As they clapped, their yellow robes fell, revealing white dresses underneath. The puppets, clad in white dresses, clapped stiffly with their wooden arms, producing dull thuds. A pair of wooden figures turned to me, their eyes, which were theoretically just carved, conveyed a playful gaze.
I issued a command directly, sending viruses and flies to swarm the puppets. Regardless, they weren’t here with good intentions, so it was better to strike first. However, the flies and germs couldn’t even get close to them. They instantly perished the moment they touched the residual resentment they left behind, killing these pathetic little creatures. These weren’t ordinary fragile insects and microorganisms, but ones enhanced with my Divine Power, not easily killed. To think they were wiped out in swarms just by getting close showed how terrifying their resentment was.
These were no longer ordinary Vengeful Spirits. I needed to use magic. I summoned my Magic Wand and aimed at one of them, casting Life Drain, my strongest skill, while throwing Demon’s Fire at the other with my left hand. Life Drain absorbed nothing; the entity was a Vengeful Spirit possessing a puppet, with no vitality to speak of. However, the other puppet behind me was directly hit by Demon’s Fire and turned to ashes.
“Really, sister is so rude,” a stiff, cold hand wrapped around my neck. The puppet to my right was still smiling at me, the one I had incinerated. They could change bodies at any time! Just as a chill entered my body, my chest suddenly glowed brightly, and the puppet clinging to me recoiled as if scalded and immediately retreated.
