Chapter 2273: Even Cults Need Science
At the same time, in a secluded inn on Atos Island, the Yellow King believers had just awakened. They had checked into this inn, recommended by a Demon Hunter, the previous night.
In terms of environment, it was impeccable. The Yellow King believers were quite satisfied with the place. It was a European-style courtyard with a small garden, clean and tidy inside, with no strange odors.
The most significant advantage was the very small number of guests. The Yellow King believers had used detection magic to check, and besides them, there was only a family on vacation, a writer who seemed to be gathering material, and three Adventurers hunting monsters. These were the only three groups of guests.
The reason for the scarcity of guests, besides the inn being located in a remote area, was its exorbitant price, more than ten times that of cheap inns on the street. This was a price that ordinary Sailors could not afford.
But for the Yellow King believers, this was perfect. They could have an environment that was not easily eavesdropped upon or monitored. Apart from needing to be a bit careful with the three Adventurers, the others were not a threat.
So, they booked the east courtyard of the inn. After resting for a night, they sat in the living room of the European-style courtyard and began to discuss the intelligence and observations they had gathered yesterday.
“First, we need to confirm the content of the Divine Revelation,” the Troupe Leader said, looking at Jayad, who was sitting in the center. Currently, only this Divine Envoy had the final right to interpret the Divine Revelation, which had been issued to him.
However, none of the remaining people doubted the Divine Revelation. When they set foot on Atos Island, the Divine Power within them began to stir faintly. As they gradually understood the situation around Atos Island, the Divine Power became even more active.
This indicated that they had come to the right place. The gods were watching them, providing them with support and encouragement through Divine Power. The Saints all had this intuition of linkage with Divine Power, feeling that they were closer to the truth.
This also made them more fanatical and excited. Last night, they had acted more like their true selves as Yellow King believers, rather than disguising themselves as an exploration team, and had almost come into conflict with a Judge.
Cultists were like this, their rationality often in an unstable state. One could not expect them to maintain rationality all the time, or at least, to appear normal on the surface.
“Go to Atos Island and disrupt a transaction there,” Jayad repeated the content of the Divine Revelation, stating the location and the event, but not the individuals involved.
“Who do you think are the two sides of the transaction? Ah, Deep Ones definitely count as one. Those fish-eyed bastards should all die from this world,” the General Manager first asked the question, then answered it himself.
In fact, most of the other Yellow King believers felt the same. From the moment they were attacked by the Deep Ones, they had identified these mortal enemies as one of the targets that the Divine Revelation required them to eliminate, just as they had done countless times before.
Now, there was only one question left. Since the task was to disrupt a transaction, there had to be two sides. One side was the Deep Ones, so who was the other?
“Need you ask? Of course, it’s those Sea Monsters. They are spreading corruption everywhere, impacting the island, and there are people on the island selling their Organ. It must be those Sea Monsters without a doubt,” one Yellow King believer said impatiently, which represented the thoughts of most of the Yellow King believers.
Due to a lack of intelligence, they did not even know about the Deep Sea Church that Jayad already knew about, and still thought that their main body was those Sea Monsters.
Although they couldn’t bring back the Sea Monster corpses from last night’s encounter, it didn’t mean they hadn’t achieved anything. Before confronting the Judge, they had quietly obtained some samples.
The samples were now placed in the center of the living room, contained in three metal boxes. These three small boxes were made of inert metal and had Seal magic applied to them, specifically designed to contain dangerous samples.
Inside were a short tentacle, a piece of coral, and a piece of soft, mud-like substance. The first two were taken from two monsters they had killed, while the last piece was scraped from Miasma and placed in the box.
Jayad surprisingly discovered that these Yellow King believers were truly cultured. Several of them were Scientists, mostly Astronomers, followed by Biologists, and one Physicist.
The other Yellow King believers also had some knowledge, roughly at the level of amateur enthusiasts, so they wouldn’t be completely lost when hearing professional terms.
Those Biologists took out microscopes and carefully observed the samples. They also tried using several reagents to experiment with some of the sampled cells. The results were quite astonishing.
“That’s right. These tissue samples are of the same biological type as the so-called ‘gift’ we obtained in the Casino before. Their cell structure, genetic sequence, and chromosome number are basically the same. We can determine that the ‘gift’ was a part of Sea Monster tissue,” one Biologist said.
“In other words, you were tricked by that guy, spending ten Gold coins for a piece of Sea Monster flesh, hahaha,” several Yellow King believers laughed at the Yellow King believer who had made the transaction in the Casino yesterday.
“Enough, stop laughing. Without the samples, how would we know it was Sea Monster tissue? Moreover, confirming that someone within the Deep Ones’ business is selling Sea Monster tissue, and that the Deep Ones chose to tacitly allow it, this is the most valuable intelligence,” the Troupe Leader said sternly.
They were just joking, and immediately stopped laughing. As the Troupe Leader said, intelligence was the most valuable thing. Compared to confirming that those people were selling Sea Monster tissue, ten Gold coins were insignificant.
In the eyes of the Yellow King believers, the fact that the Deep Ones allowed people to sell this Sea Monster tissue within their operations was already an incredible thing. They were all familiar with the corruption of the Deep Ones, or rather, what the corrosive aura of the Lord of R’lyeh was like. It was definitely not the feeling of Miasma.
This was enough to show that they were not a unified group. Those Sea Monsters were not converts of the Lord of R’lyeh or Father Dagon, but rather a different Faction.
The Yellow King believers did not believe that the Deep Ones would not know that someone was selling such things within their operations. Furthermore, according to the intelligence and research from yesterday, these tissue cells automatically began to convert other biological cells upon contact.
This was a great threat. The Deep Ones allowing Sea Monster cells to be traded within their operations, in their view, was a symbol of alliance. The two sides had already colluded, and those Sea Monsters were the other party to the transaction mentioned in the Divine Revelation.
“Next, what’s quite surprising is that even after detaching from the host body and losing blood supply, these cells have not lost their activity. They are even continuously dividing. And even more astonishing is that all these cells can be considered stem cells,” the Biologist said with fascination, looking at the microscope.
