Chapter 2342: When in Doubt, Seek Inspiration
After they returned, they would completely forget what happened tonight, only feeling as if they had slept soundly until morning, refreshed and invigorated.
Now, it was my turn to get to work. In fact, as soon as I set foot on this island, I experienced something completely different from when I was with Night Bird. That damp and foul aura permeated every corner of Saint Port Island, making one nauseous.
Different Sea God powers influenced this island. It wasn’t just the corruption from Calypso and the Sea Monster, but also the divine power influences from multiple Sea Gods or deities related to the ocean, ships, and fisheries.
Anyone living near the sea could not avoid fearing the capricious ocean, which not only brought various terrifying disasters but also provided them with the food they relied on for survival.
Therefore, those who made a living from the sea were basically devout believers who prayed daily, even worshipping many gods. They would pray to all the gods they knew for the safety of their families, for favorable weather throughout the year, and for a bountiful harvest today.
This resulted in this chaotic island, filled with corruption everywhere, far more severe than what Night Bird had experienced. Corruptions of different natures clashed, eroded, and conflicted with each other.
I felt as if I were in a sauna, surrounded by dense mist, yet it was incredibly cold. I also felt waves of damp sea breeze, and a calling from what seemed like the deep abyss, echoing with each gust.
“Sigh, Older Brother’s matters are always so troublesome, but this time it’s my turn to help him.” I calmed myself and began to listen to the faint calls.
This was risky. Trying to forcibly comprehend these calls usually resulted in mental erosion and a continuous decline in sanity. However, if I could understand them, I might obtain a great deal of secret information.
“Embrace… more…” “Change…” “With you…” “Fill… spread…” Those intermittent voices spoke in a language incomprehensible to ordinary people, conveying words of unknown meaning.
“Ugh!” I clutched my head. This time, it wasn’t just the Valkyrie; my own head ached. Immediately after, I seemed to understand something, and the surrounding atmosphere became less unbearable.
It was a magical feeling, as if I had suddenly transformed from a terrestrial creature into an aquatic one, able to breathe in the sea. Although the Valkyrie was still on land, I felt as if the air around me was entirely ocean.
“So that’s how it is. When in doubt, just get some inspiration. Now, I should be able to see more, right?” I looked up towards the south. According to reports, Atos Island was in that direction, and the seaweed seemed to be spreading from there.
Then I saw it: a light spreading across the sky like an aurora, but with a different color. It was a brighter light, with a light blue base.
Within that light, I saw jellyfish suspended in the air, countless mycelia that seemed to fall from the sky, or sea creatures growing upwards from the sea, and countless mayflies fluttering among towering coral reefs.
The scene was so beautiful, so magnificent, and so dreamlike, it was like a stairway to heaven. The luminous mayflies floating in mid-air seemed like angels guiding the way, and the colorful coral reefs resembled castles in the sky.
The God’s Eye looked down and finally saw the mysterious Atos Island. It was an island composed entirely of coral reefs. The beautiful and dreamlike coral island was not far to the south of Saint Port Island.
It was just as I had suspected. To those who could not see it, the island did not exist. No wonder for so many years it had only been a legend among fishermen, and no one had ever heard of anyone who had gone to Atos Island and returned.
The prerequisite for being able to see it was essentially consuming the Gift. However, after consuming it, their minds would be influenced, and they would consider themselves sea folk, viewing Atos Island as a paradise and heaven.
Within Christianity, there has always been a controversial topic called the Paradise Paradox. If a perfect paradise truly exists, how can its existence be proven?
If paradise is truly perfect, then those who enter it will be reluctant to leave, experiencing extreme pleasure and satisfaction in body and mind, and will not want to come out, thus being unable to inform others of its location.
However, conversely, if someone has come out of paradise, it means that paradise is not perfect. Therefore, a perfect paradise cannot prove its existence, which is the Paradise Paradox.
Of course, this is just a meaningless religious hypothesis, and not many people dwell on this issue because it ignores one situation: not entering paradise does not mean that one cannot observe paradise from the outside, nor does it mean that information cannot be exchanged with people inside paradise.
Because I knew about such a paradise before. The realm of bliss that Older Brother Jayad often liked to send people into was such a place. Once inside, you would never want to leave. But we could directly observe its existence and even know what it felt like inside.
Atos Island, like the one before me, was similar. Perhaps for the Sea Monster, it was heaven and paradise. Those who could reach the island had completely accepted the embrace of the sea and transformed into beings entirely different from humans. Naturally, outsiders could not know of Atos Island’s existence.
Having confirmed the location of Atos Island, I moved on to the next direction: the Deep Ones. The Valkyrie floated up and flew towards the position of the mixed-blood Deep One village.
The Yellow King believers dared not investigate further, because their aura was like a torch in the night to the Deep Ones. In the eyes of these two sworn enemies, neither could hide their identity to infiltrate the other’s camp. Even encountering each other would reveal them, making the Yellow King believers very cautious when investigating the Deep Ones.
I was different. I directly released the flies, which flew into the fishing village and began to explore everywhere. It was actually quite easy. As the flies entered the homes, I saw that every household had strange idols.
It was a statue with octopus-like tentacles, sharp claws for hands and feet, smooth, black skin like a sea creature covered in scales, a bloated and fat body, three eyes on each side of its head, and wings on its back.
“Ugh!” The moment I saw these statues, my head ached again, and my mind was slightly shocked. The flies that witnessed these statues instantly exploded and died.
Simultaneously, I heard a murmuring whisper, a name difficult for humans to understand, followed by the words: “…in R’lyeh, await your dream.”
The aura of this fishing village felt faintly familiar. Upon closer inspection, I realized the source of this familiarity. It felt somewhat similar to Amelia’s Clinic, with a certain resemblance to Samantha’s aura.
