Chapter 2360 Repairing Files
“No, I can sense my own condition through the maggots. My Guardian Deity shows no signs of Sea People contamination, and those from the Deep Sea Church shouldn’t have had a chance to get close to me,” I stated with certainty.
It had only been less than a day since I arrived at Saint Port Island. Even if these Deep Sea Bishops and Sea People were incredibly powerful, it was unlikely they could have reached me or forced me to accept Sea People cells. Moreover, with the maggots now, I could constantly monitor myself for any signs of infection.
“It’s not just about whether you’ve been marked. Another crucial point is, do the Sea People or the Deep Sea Bishops know about Parul? Do they know you’re investigating them?” Re asked again.
“That’s hard to say. Since I could sense them making subtle moves, it’s possible they sensed me too. However, I can’t be sure if it sensed me. I can only say its reaction didn’t seem like it knew me,” I replied.
Although there was a possibility the algae creature was feigning not being discovered by me, I still leaned towards the belief that I hadn’t been discovered. The reason was quite simple: the difficulty I had in discovering it and the difficulty it had in discovering me were not comparable.
I was able to discover the algae creature for two reasons: first, it actively unleashed its magic power, and second, it had Sea People energy, which allowed me to passively detect it. Moreover, I had been paying close attention to my surroundings at the time.
I was different. I was deliberately hidden in the jungle, had no Sea People aura, and didn’t actively unleash any magic power. Without these two factors, it would have been very difficult for the master behind the algae creature to discover me. Furthermore, it was busy trying to sneak into the Secret Room to plant the diary. When concentrating so intensely, it would be hard to discover me.
“Okay, then we’ll assume Parul wasn’t noticed, and even that they don’t know about Parul’s existence. In that case, Parul is the only variable,” Older Brother Jayad said, enlightening us.
“In other words, I’ve become the one most likely to uncover the truth?” I asked with a wry smile. This matter originally had nothing to do with me, but now I was the focus.
“It’s okay if Parul doesn’t want to do it. Just knowing this is enough. Even if they know my movements, I have ways to confuse them and act using their blind spots,” Older Brother Jayad comforted me.
“No, I will continue to help. Since I’ve already summoned the Guardian Deity to Holy Port Island, I will see it through to the end. Moreover, this is no longer just Older Brother Jayad’s problem; it’s the world’s problem. If we can’t stop them, tsunamis and floods will sweep across the land,” I said.
After reading the contents of the diary and learning that two other bishops wanted to engulf the world with floods and the other wanted humanity to be assimilated by the Sea People, I understood that this was no longer just Older Brother Jayad’s concern; it was mine as well.
Even if their crazy plan had a low success rate, whether it was summoning the Old Days Rulers, unleashing the power of the Lord of R’lyeh, or spreading the Sea People corruption, it would eventually lead to conflicts with other Churches or even directly invite Divine Punishment. In my opinion, it was just courting disaster.
However, countless Commoners would be harmed in the process, drowned by floods, or corrupted by Sea People cells. They were all innocent. The moment I learned of these mad plans, I decided to stop them. Not to wait until the end, but preferably to stop them before they even began, before they could cause too much harm.
Furthermore, they had offended Older Brother Jayad, which made them even more unforgivable. Those who stood against Older Brother Jayad must die!
“Alright, then thank you for your hard work, Parul,” Older Brother Jayad gently stroked my cheek and gave me a kiss.
“Oh, right. There are some things I can still investigate. The Yellow King believers seem helpless with these, so I took back those files that were damaged by mutations, using the excuse of consulting the gods,” Older Brother Jayad chuckled, suddenly producing some tattered pieces of paper, so corroded that the text was almost illegible.
“These are the files destroyed by the Deep Sea Bishops during their mutations? They’re completely illegible now; they’ve been completely corroded,” Via picked up a piece of paper. With a slight effort, the paper dissolved into pulp, demonstrating the extent of the corrosion.
“They can’t repair these files, but I can,” Older Brother Jayad reached his hand over the files, and a rose-colored Holy Light emanated from his palm.
“Ah! It’s Rose Touch!” The girls suddenly realized, almost forgetting that if it weren’t for the restriction to Yellow King believers, Older Brother Jayad could have fully restored the files using the power of the Lord of Dawn.
Under the effect of Rose Touch, the completely corroded and dissolved files were rapidly repaired, eventually turning into bound documents, clearly classified.
Everyone looked at these pristine files, as if they were fresh from the factory, and couldn’t help but marvel. The mastermind behind it all had calculated everything, but never expected Older Brother Jayad to possess such a magical ability.
The ability to repair damaged items was rare and unpopular. As Yellow King believers, they would certainly not associate or cooperate with a formal Church like the Dawn Church. He definitely wouldn’t have expected Jayad to also be an elector of the Lord of Dawn.
“There are many files, let’s divide them and examine them,” Older Brother Jayad said. The other girls nodded and each took a file to read.
The contents here were much more specific and objective, and there wasn’t a single diary entry, only formal texts recorded as data. This further reinforced the idea that no decent person writes a diary.
This again confirmed that most of the diary’s content was true, with only a small portion exaggerated and some crucial information omitted.
For instance, within these documents, the names on that list were absent; everything was represented by codenames, with brief descriptions of their general city of residence and status. However, their numbers were far greater than those on the list.
We cross-referenced the two lists one by one, confirming that some individuals and codenames matched. They were indeed supporters, or even members, of the Deep Sea Church.
This also aligns with the modus operandi of cults. What cult would openly list the names of infiltrated members for all to see, waiting to be wiped out?
The Deep Sea Church didn’t need to write names or use secret codes; they could confirm each other by sensing the Sea People cells and auras on their bodies.
In other words, the list contained those the mastermind wanted to eliminate, likely key figures who didn’t support his agenda.
Furthermore, the most crucial part of the document recorded their method of contacting and making transactions with the Deep Ones: in dreams.
