Chapter 2373: Ink Jade Amulet
Just as the Troupe Leader gritted his teeth, preparing to unleash a forbidden spell to bomb the Navy Fortress, Jayad spoke, “No need for forbidden spells. We are not here to fight the navy. Even if we do it cleanly, there will be traces. And if there are strong individuals within the fortress who can withstand a forbidden spell, the repercussions will be endless.”
Jayad’s words instantly calmed the Troupe Leader. They were far from having the ability to confront national forces head-on and provoke the Iberian Empire’s navy like this.
However, the Troupe Leader still said anxiously, “But if we don’t go now, the aura left by the dream traversal will disappear, and then we won’t be able to find their ritual site!”
“No problem, I already know where the ritual is. I’ll be back soon,” Jayad said, his body floating up. He suddenly flew into the distance.
“Divine Envoy, wait!” Seeing Jayad suddenly take flight, the Troupe Leader hurriedly wanted to cast a spell to follow him. Unexpectedly, as he rose, a gentle force pushed him back to the ground.
“I’ll go. You all wait here. There are still things you need to do,” Jayad said, flying quickly to the south. The Troupe Leader and the other Yellow King believers watched, looking at each other speechlessly, not knowing how to react.
At the same time, I had already walked through the warehouse door, which was still open. Inside was a vast, empty warehouse, filled with the aura of dreams. The half-blood descendant of the Deep Ones had transported so many Sea Monster Corpses into the dreamscape, and the lingering aura would not dissipate anytime soon.
Through these residual auras, the door to the dreamscape could be reopened, leading to the lair of the Deep Ones. It would be an extremely dangerous place, but since I had decided to help Older Brother Jayad accomplish this, I would see it through to the end.
I took out an amulet carved from black jade, depicting a deep-sea creature of unspeakable appearance. This was the amulet Samantha had given me. I was not a Dreamer and could not enter dreams at will, but Samantha could help me.
When the Ink Jade Amulet came into contact with the dream aura, it emitted a multicolored black light. I instantly felt that everything around me had become unreal, and then my whole body was submerged in icy seawater.
An ancient and majestic voice repeatedly echoed, “In the eternal mansion of R’lyeh, the Great Being who slumbers awaits your dream…”
When I heard this voice, my brain ached, my spirit was greatly impacted, and my inspiration became extremely sensitive. However, the light emitted by the ink jade protected me, preventing my sanity from collapsing.
The surroundings were all seawater, and the light was very dim. But I could vaguely see that the surroundings were all black coral reefs. Moreover, I could breathe smoothly and did not inhale seawater, nor was I crushed by the water pressure. This was all thanks to the amulet in my hand.
As I followed the light source and crawled over a corner while touching the rocks, I was shocked by the scene before me. Countless towering corals formed a submerged mountain. They automatically emitted light, illuminating a large area around them, appearing dreamlike and illusory.
Large schools of colorful fish and other sea creatures swam among the coral clusters. I could not determine if they were illusions created by the dream or creatures truly living in the dream, but I thought it was possible that both were true.
A massive fluctuation of magic power emanated from the mountain. I hid among the giant coral forest and cautiously swam forward, because I could already feel that this magic power was very similar to, even identical to, the aura of the Sea People.
When I rounded the mountain ridge, I finally saw everything before me. The middle of the three bodies had been dug out, forming a circular depression. There were fewer coral clusters there, replaced by a large open space, like a circular plaza enclosed by the mountain.
On the plaza stood towering stone pillars arranged in a circle, with incomplete stone chairs and altars. These were artificial creations, different from the natural scenery formed by the surrounding coral reefs.
And at this moment, the plaza was covered with Sea Monster Corpses. Countless half-human, half-fish Deep Ones were piling these corpses onto the plaza, stacking them layer upon layer on the ground.
More Deep Ones knelt around the outer edge of the ring-shaped mountain, continuously bowing towards the center. Among them, I saw several figures several times larger than their companions. They were the particularly troublesome giant merfolk that Older Brother Jayad and the Yellow King believers had encountered at sea.
Just as I was about to lean out to get a closer look at their actions, I suddenly felt the sound of water movement behind me. I quickly pressed myself down and hid in the depths of the coral.
A huge shadow swam over my head. It had a soft, octopus-like body, with sharp claws on all four limbs and a pair of wings on its back. My soul was scattered by the sight. It looked almost identical to the statue of the Outer Gods I had seen in the small fishing village.
How is this possible? Gods cannot appear in the world, and the ritual has not even begun. How could it have already resurrected? Just as I was filled with such shock and uncertainty, a piece of knowledge awakened in my brain.
The Star Kin, they are high-dimensional beings from beyond the distant space-time continuum, composed of matter more vast than the universe itself. They are the kin and servants of the Great Ones. In ancient times, they had established vast civilizations and cities, but they fell into a long slumber in the sea with the sinking of the continent.
The Great One, the Lord of R’lyeh, these are His kin. As I watched the Star Kin swim towards the altar, followed by many Deep Ones. The Deep Ones in front made way for the Star Kin, bowing.
It was clear that the Star Kin had a higher status than the Deep Ones. If the Deep Ones were considered mortal believers, the Star Kin were more like angels or divine envoys.
Behind it were two large Deep Ones. I couldn’t be sure if they were Deep Ones because only their upper bodies looked very much like the fish-men Deep Ones, but their lower bodies were long, serpentine tails, unlike the frog-like legs of normal Deep Ones.
I curled up in the coral, trying my best not to let them discover me. Samantha had told me that this Ink Jade had the function of concealing my aura, but only after they swam past could I finally relax with peace of mind.
When this group swam to the center of the plaza, the surrounding Deep Ones shouted even more fanatically. Even though this was theoretically the deep sea, I could still hear the sounds they made, speaking some words that I could not understand.
But I could never understand that term, nor could I transcribe it. They were syllables that humans could not pronounce and could only be referred to by approximate words.
As they landed on the plaza, the Star Kin raised its claws, and a massive amount of magic power surged into the Sea Monster Corpses. Then, their corpses suddenly came back to life and were constantly rising with vigor.
