Chapter 404: Complete Mutation
I couldn’t escape it. As expected, if Jayad started mutating, how could I, who had directly received Beelzebub’s power, not mutate?
“Miss Parul, are you really alright?” Sebastian asked me worriedly, sounding unsure.
Jayad also asked with concern, “Parul, do you want to rest a bit?”
“There’s no time to rest now. Let’s continue and finish destroying the Formless Children in one go, and then I’ll deal with the mutation,” I said. I had heard from the Pope that we believers of Beelzebub had another way to recover our physical bodies.
“But…” Sebastian still wanted to say something, but I no longer wanted to hear it. There were no buts; I wanted to solve all problems now. I had lost my patience.
Holding the Divine Seal, I began to sacrifice all the Formless Children one by one. Red light flared up one after another, and my body became increasingly itchy. Horrifying insect legs and insect wings kept growing out of me, but I ignored it.
“Miss Parul! You need to stop, really. Take a rest, we’re not in a hurry,” Sebastian urged me.
“No need. I feel perfectly fine right now,” I said. Seriously, I felt really great. This feeling of divine power constantly entering my body was addictive. Even the constant itching sensation all over my body had become a kind of comfort.
Now, Sebastian and the others were no longer holding the villagers for me, but it didn’t matter. My hands were covered in insect legs, responsive to my every whim, like a Swiss Army knife of biological organisms.
They seemed to have grown on my arms since birth, requiring no practice whatsoever. Moreover, they possessed immense strength. I could easily lift an adult man, and with my extra legs, I could lift two or even three.
This made things much more convenient. Holding the Divine Seal in my hand, my insect legs would lift one to be sacrificed, and after sacrificing, I would simply fling it aside and grab another person.
Soon, it was no longer the villagers rushing at me, but me chasing them. Those Formless Children instinctively sensed the threat and wanted to escape, but could they?
I felt my speed, strength, and reaction nerves greatly enhanced. A single jump could unleash a speed invisible to the naked eye, making it easier to catch these villagers, who were like epileptics, than to catch a chicken.
“Jayad, your sister is acting a bit strangely. Do you have a way?” Sebastian anxiously asked Jayad.
“Uh, I think I have a way.” Jayad took out the Nine-tailed whip, but when he looked at me, our eyes met, and he seemed a little intimidated, daring not to approach.
“Come here~ Brother Jayad, I’m feeling so itchy~ It would be perfect if you could whip me a few times,” I said in a tone I had never used before. It felt pretty good to let myself go.
“Uh, Parul, are you still listening to me?” Jayad asked cautiously, gathering his courage to approach only when he thought of Parul.
“Of course, I always listen to my brother. Come here~” Several insect legs behind my back made hooking gestures, essentially saying, “Come here.”
Jayad approached me, and I indeed had no intention of attacking him. Although they seemed to think I had gone mad, my mind felt clearer than ever.
“Then I’ll strike,” Jayad slowly raised the Nine-tailed whip and lightly struck my back.
I shrugged. It felt comfortable, but not enough. “Put more strength into it, Brother Jayad, didn’t you eat today?”
“Oh, oh!” Jayad finally used his usual normal strength to whip my back.
Ah, that felt good. I felt so comfortable that my insect legs trembled. Now, sacrificing the Formless Children wouldn’t require me to worry about completely losing my mind.
And so, a bizarre scene unfolded: I searched the village for villagers possessed by the Formless Children, and upon finding them, I would grab them for sacrifice. Jayad followed behind, whipping me, as if it were some strange ascetic practice.
Sebastian and the others could only follow behind, helplessly helping us search the village for any hidden villagers. The sooner we found them, the sooner we could finish, and then find a way to cure Parul.
Sherris was quite capable of finding people. She twitched her little nose, her sense of smell exceptionally sharp, easily locating villagers still hiding inside houses.
Furthermore, I discovered that not all villagers were possessed by the Formless Children. Some villagers were not infected. After Moore was eliminated, they had fallen into a coma, which saved me a lot of trouble.
I also realized that these Formless Children should all be interconnected, with almost identical wavelengths. I guessed they were secondary offspring split from the original Formless Child.
To split so many offspring in such a short time meant that if these young ones also grew to the previous size, it would be a catastrophe. Although I didn’t like being associated with the Great Fly, I should indeed feed all this mycelium to Him.
Beelzebub, I’m treating you to a mixed mushroom stew. Do you like it? Please eat to your heart’s content. It would be even better if I didn’t have to feed you one by one.
While I was lost in thought, a villager lying on the ground suddenly sprang up and charged at me. His movement was not like someone controlled; it was incredibly fast, and he was holding a dagger.
“Careful!” everyone else shouted. However, it happened too suddenly. We were all used to the slow, zombie-like villagers before, and one appearing with extreme speed caught them off guard.
“Hiss!” I was caught in an underhanded surprise attack, and he stabbed me in the waist. However, because my waist was covered with a layer of black chitin, he couldn’t stab too deep.
But seeing that he hadn’t killed me, this guy actually forced the dagger, prying off a few of my chitinous plates, spilling blood.
“Ahhh!” A sharp pain shot through me. The feeling of an unhealed wound being ripped open, along with flesh and skin, was agonizing.
An insect leg immediately grew out of the wound and lightly stabbed, knocking the knife from the villager’s hand. He cried out, clutching his hand, “You monster!”
“Huh? You can talk?” My dozen or so insect legs immediately grabbed the villager. It was unexpected. Unlike the other villagers, he still had his consciousness, and his thoughts were clear.
Was he not controlled by Moore? Seeing my mutated state, he was terrified and thought I was a monster, so he came at me with a knife?
I still habitually scanned his body with the copper seal, and he immediately let out a scream. Fragments of the Formless Children flew out of his mouth along with a red glow.
Huh? He was clearly infected with a Formless Child within him too. Was it because this Formless Child’s control was stronger, making him appear conscious?
“Damn you! You cultist, I will kill you and offer you to our Great Master!” the villager roared fanatically.
“Ah! He seems to be the villager who was particularly close to Moore before!” Sherris exclaimed.
