Chapter 69: Magic Notes
From her tone, I could tell the ecstasy and the feeling of desperation were intertwined. What was it that a Witch valued so much?
I followed her gaze. It was just a floor tile in the cave, unremarkable, no different from the surrounding tiles. It was a crudely made red brick, already cracked.
But Jayad’s eyes flashed, revealing a hint of surprise. Did he see something?
The Witch anxiously reached for the floor tile. I thought I saw a faint Spiritual Light emanate from her hand, but then it was as if nothing had happened; the floor remained as it was before.
“Damn it! Not enough magic power!” the Witch growled through gritted teeth. Her gaze suddenly shifted to me. She extended her hand towards me, and a wisp of Blood Mist rose from my body.
“Wait! Don’t!” I pleaded in terror. The tragic scene of those people on the execution ground being drained dry was still vivid in my mind. Their agonizing screams echoed in my ears. Was I about to be killed in the same way?
“What are you doing? Let her go!” Jayad shouted in angry surprise. Although he couldn’t see the Blood Mist, he knew this was no good.
“Shut up! I don’t intend to kill her!” The Witch waved her hand, and an Invisible Hand directly sent Jayad, who was trying to rush forward, flying into the wall. The difference in power was so despairing.
“I’m just borrowing a bit of magic power. Only living people can produce magic power, so you two don’t need to worry about me killing you. However, if you dare to be disobedient again, I can’t say. I’ll kill her first!” the Witch said with a sinister smile, having noticed that Jayad particularly cared about me.
Indeed, her threat was effective. Jayad was hesitant and dared not move. At the same time, I knew I was not in mortal danger for the moment. The Witch intended to use us as Power Banks, but temporarily. Once she recovered her magic power, it would be hard to say.
After the Blood Mist was drawn from me, I felt as if something was missing from my body, leaving a sense of emptiness. But at the same time, a warm current was generated within me, filling the void.
“Hmm? You little girl, I can’t tell, but your innate magic power is quite substantial. If I could see magic power, would you be my Disciple?” the Witch said jokingly.
She had originally planned to take half from the girl and give it to the boy, unexpectedly finding that this girl could produce so much magic power. But this was even better.
So, the Blood Mist and the Invisible Hand I saw were made of magic power. Did my ability to see them mean I had the potential to be a Witch?
Just now, the Witch said my innate magic power was substantial. I was immediately moved, thinking whether I should tell her about this and agree to become her Disciple. Perhaps that way, I might be able to save Jayad’s life?
But before I could say anything, the Witch had already slammed her palm onto the ground. The magic power she had just drawn from me gave her the ability to cast spells again.
The red brick quickly turned into a pool of mud. The Witch directly dug through the pile of mud and pulled out a cloth bag. The Witch, Ecstatic, opened the bag and took out a book, or rather, a notebook. It was densely filled with many words, accompanied by handwritten simple drawings.
“Haha! My Magic Notes, luckily that idiot Ash didn’t hide it too far,” the Witch laughed heartily, flipping through the notebook.
I immediately understood. This was the manuscript the Witch recorded when she was practicing magic. It was crucial to her. It was estimated that before she was captured, she had given it to someone named Ash to take away and hide. As soon as she escaped the Execution ground, she came here to find her notes.
