Chapter 782: Want to paint?
“Hmm?” I looked at Older Brother Jayad. This was quite an adventurous idea. I leaned closer to his ear and whispered, “The power of the Outer Gods is very dangerous. Let’s not do this, okay?”
“There’s no other way now. I can’t feel the light here. To defeat her, I have to use everything.” Jayad said.
“Older Brother Jayad has already decided, hasn’t he? Then good luck. Please remember to stay true to yourself.” I said. Since Older Brother Jayad had said so, he must be prepared. I could only support him silently from behind.
I gave him an injection of sedative. I estimated that one dose of sedative would definitely not be enough to voluntarily absorb the power left behind by the Outer Gods, but I could only try my best to maintain his sanity, at least prevent him from falling into madness.
“What are you two doing?” the Knight Captain asked confusedly. He had been looking through the items in the treasure vault and had only just noticed our rather unusual actions.
“My brother is preparing a powerful spell that might defeat the Usum Child. Please don’t disturb him right now.” I said. At this moment, Jayad had his back to us, facing the wall, holding three fragments in his hands and beginning to absorb the magic left within them.
“Alright then, we’ll wait outside.” The Knight Captain believed what I said, and I wasn’t lying to him. Older Brother Jayad was indeed preparing to defeat the Usum Child.
We left the secret room and went to the office outside, waiting anxiously. The aura inside the secret room was constantly fluctuating, and I couldn’t help but worry if a tentacle monster would crawl out from inside.
Moreover, if Older Brother Jayad couldn’t defeat the Usum Child even after going this far, I felt there would be no hope. At that point, I would have to seriously consider how to get Lavias outside to get us out of here. As for the Usum Child, it would be best to call for reinforcements and gang up on her.
Just then, the aura inside suddenly reached its peak. Even the Knight Captain stood up, looking nervously at the secret room door. He hadn’t been able to sense the King in Yellow’s power before, but now he was suddenly startled by this surging aura.
Sherris also looked at the anti-theft door with fear, her body trembling. The aura inside felt like that of a high-ranking ruler, with absolute control over her. This was a primal instinct of hierarchical suppression.
“Boom!” The aura burst out, directly blasting open the anti-theft door that they couldn’t even scratch before. We had been entering and exiting through the Hand of Glory, but I never expected this sturdy all-steel anti-theft door to be rendered useless.
“What’s wrong? Hey! Brother, are you okay?” the Knight Captain shouted loudly, but at the same time, he had already drawn his sword and was warily looking into the room. That aura made him feel filled with threat and terror.
“I’m fine. At least nothing went wrong,” Older Brother Jayad’s muffled voice came from inside. Hearing his voice, I immediately felt relieved. He hadn’t even been blown to meat paste.
“Then we’re coming in!” Sherris said. However, Jayad’s voice came from inside: “Wait! Don’t rush in yet! I haven’t finished!”
His voice was a little rushed, indicating that some unexpected situation had occurred. My worries were stirred up again, but since Older Brother Jayad said so, I could only wait anxiously where I was.
The aura expanded quickly and then receded just as fast. Soon, peace was restored in the room. There was no longer any trace of the King in Yellow’s aura inside. I didn’t know what had happened.
After a while longer, Older Brother Jayad came out. Before he could speak, I couldn’t help but rush forward and hug him, “Older Brother Jayad!”
“Uh, Parul, don’t hug me so tightly. I’m okay.” Jayad said with some difficulty, his mental state seemingly normal.
I blushed a little, realizing I had been too excited, and quickly let go of Older Brother Jayad. However, whether he was alright or not wasn’t up to him to say; I needed to check for myself to be sure.
I looked him up and down and confirmed that Older Brother Jayad’s body was also fine. Only then did Sherris dare to approach him. “Mr. Jayad, did everything go smoothly?”
“Yes, it went smoothly, it’s just…” Jayad looked somewhat embarrassed at the secret room. “I lost a bit of control with my burst just now and blew up quite a few things in the room.”
We looked inside and indeed, the secret room was a mess. The shelves had collapsed, paint boxes and brushes were scattered all over the floor, and the surveillance sphere in the center was also broken.
Considering that even the anti-theft door had been blown open, it was no surprise that the items inside hadn’t survived. The Knight Captain said indifferently, “It’s fine. We won’t be using these things anyway. Even if the silver is blown into a lump, it can still be used.”
“No, I think some things can still be used. Could you help me look for any intact brushes and paints? Paper would be even better,” Jayad suddenly said.
“Why do you want paper, pens, and paints? There are plenty in the art studio outside if you want them,” the Knight Captain asked confusedly.
“The paper and brushes collected in this secret room are more precious. Also,” Jayad said, “I suddenly feel that I can try painting.”
“Painting?” This time it was my turn to be stunned. When did Older Brother Jayad learn to paint? I had never seen him do it before.
“Yeah, I just suddenly feel like I want to… uh, I think I can paint it. I feel like this might be a way to defeat the Usum Child,” Jayad said, sounding unsure himself.
“Wait, Older Brother Jayad, you don’t mean to…?!” I suddenly thought of a possibility. What kind of painting would require those more advanced, more precious paints, brushes, and paper? What kind of painting would become the method to defeat the Usum Child?
Do I even need to say it? It’s naturally what those Old Day Imprinters did: imprinting the power of the Outer Gods onto paintings. Did he want to use their own methods against them?
But the question remains, can Older Brother Jayad paint? With this question, we began to collect the intact paints from inside.
Fortunately, most of these paints were in plastic bottles. As long as they weren’t damaged in the first impact, most of them wouldn’t be smashed.
Many of the brushes were broken, and the paper had turned into scraps, but quite a few had survived. Even the spilled paints on the floor could still be used if scooped up.
“Be a little careful. They can’t be mixed together. If they are mixed, the powers of different Outer Gods will cancel each other out, and the paints will be ruined,” Jayad reminded us.
The art supplies stored in this secret room were indeed a step above those outside. The paints had immense magical content, the brushes were made of spirit wood and magical beast hair, and even the canvas was made of very precious material.
We managed to gather a complete set of art supplies and moved them to the art studio outside. Now, it was up to Older Brother Jayad to show us his performance.
