Re-sortie in the Republic of the Tower.
First, expendable assault infantry units to make them shoot for nothing.
“Ooooooooh!”
Seconds after entering the Tower’s carpet bombing zone.
Magic Tools of attack from the Tower rained down on our advance and heads.
“Gyaaaaaa. Hinyaaaaaa!”
Before impact, forward, forward!
Running with the force of pushing through the allies ahead.
Behind me, magic impacted, and with the shock of a person dying as a tailwind, I pushed further forward.
When I reach the base of the Tower, the intensity of the attack weakens.
A lie. I know it shouldn’t be, but… if I run back, I’ll be killed by my allies for deserting the enemy.
Even if I’m not killed, it will work in favor of the Republic of the Tower.
If we truly become a defeated nation, a miserable life will visit us.
Damn it, I have no choice but to push forward. A soldier whose destiny was decided the moment they were incorporated into an infantry unit.
At the moment of impact, they become meat chunks, saying, “Please win,” to their superiors.
*Boom* *Boom*
Around the time the main army drew the Tower’s enemy eyes.
Our platoon, disguised with camouflage, began covert operations, bypassing the Tower.
“Platoon Leader!”
“What? Ah, those who aren’t here are on a separate special mission.”
The ones who aren’t here are me. If shelled by the enemy, I’ll swap with someone who isn’t there in the chaos.
And then get the credit.
If that’s not possible, I’ll return to the platoon leader and carry the survivors on my shoulders for withdrawal.
“Let’s go.”
“Yes!”
It seems the main army has deployed its reserved cavalry unit.
The sound of gongs rings out. The neighing of horses and the sound of hooves treading the ground can be heard.
“This is good. We’re getting close to the Tower—Scatter!”
“Yes!”
*Dodon* *Boom* *Boom*
Found and spotted by the Tower’s enemy.
I hastily gave the order to scatter. Except for one person who was already moving before the order, they were injured in the leg, and were shot and died in battle while crawling.
I used the dust cloud from the first impact, with my non-human speed, to leap far backward.
So close.
“Run—!”
“Yes!”
I sent the survivors charging in.
Confirming that others were also flustered, I quickly changed my appearance.
Becoming a phantom soldier, I sprinted forward.
Making up for the distance I jumped back, I headed for the base of the Tower.
I glance at the main army.
They’ve lost a lot of momentum. The attacks on us are increasing.
It’ll be bad if it gets to that point. Kill a few people in the Republic of the Tower’s Tower and get promoted.
A leisurely rear-echelon life in the staff office.
That plan.
“I will succeed—!”
*Dodon* *Dodon*
Nuuuuugh!
I’ve arrived! Ngh.
A bombardment directly from Rayos with a *Boom*.
Gathering flesh fragments, it takes some time to revive.
By the time I’m fully able to move.
The friendly forces have retreated.
In the surroundings, a yokai is wandering among flesh fragments and corpses.
“Uooh!? Jewel get chaaaan♪!”
It’s a bonus game. A bonus stage.
Rayos then shifts his focus to the jewels within the yokai’s bodies.
“Uhyahyahyahyahyahyahyahyahyahyahyahyahyahyahyahyahyahyahy-”
“Gaaaaaaah. Shaaaaaaah!”
Suddenly attacked by a human.
The yokai are surprised. Prey. Prey! They swarm Rayos.
Just as I wanted, Rayos repairs his body even as it’s torn to shreds and counterattacks, dealing with the yokai.
The Tower’s enemies assume the yokai are cannibalizing each other.
They maintain perimeter observation until the commotion dies down.
Rayos’s “letting flesh be cut to break bones” state continues for several hours.
“Hah, hah, hah—!”
“Gubeeee?!”
A three-headed great bird.
Each of its humanoid heads wields a different attribute magic.
Despite struggling with its incredibly high defensive power boosted by support magic, I manage to cut off two heads with sheer willpower and seize victory.
“Uoooooooh!”
