Chapter 2: New Century (Epilogue)
Even if Xi Wei turned to ash, the players in Winter City would recognize him. Most of them were from the first beta and had been massacred by Xi Wei in various ways. They had followed Xi Wei through various versions of the “game” until they defected to Winter City and then followed Xi Wei to conquer all directions. In the game, Xi Wei himself was the most popular character. Compared to the maids, Xi Wei appealed to both men and women. His character in the game was already filled with legendary colors. Now that he had come to reality, standing before everyone and blocking the East Sea Great Wall, it stirred a strange excitement in the players’ hearts, as if they had truly seen Sun Wukong causing havoc in the Celestial Palace – a complex and incredibly thrilling feeling.
“King of Winter, holy shit! It’s really the King of Winter!”
“No way… Cain and Blue Star are two different worlds. How did he get here? Are you sure it’s not a mistake?”
“Heh, if the Old Ones can come, why can’t the King of Winter?”
“This, this is the King of Winter. That gaze… The King of Winter had the same gaze when he first came to Dawn Town back then, like a wolf that had snuck into a sheep pen…”
“Damn it, why is the King of Winter on Blue Star? Am I still dreaming?!”
The entire East Sea Great Wall was in an uproar.
In the command center, Scheming Frog, who was on the verge of despair, couldn’t help but show joy. He grabbed the old chief next to him and laughed heartily, tears of joy streaming down his face: “The King of Winter is here! He must have finished dealing with Cain’s Old Ones and came straight to Blue Star! He… he hasn’t forgotten us. Blue Star is saved!”
The old chief, who didn’t play games, was utterly stunned. He stood there, bewildered, but he also felt that a huge turning point had occurred, all because of the scorching sun in the sky.
As Xi Wei’s divine power spread outwards, everything except the humans on the East Sea Great Wall began to slow down. Their speed decreased, and just as the colossal beast was about to touch the East Sea Great Wall, it stopped. All the Old Ones’ retainers froze in place.
Nobody Does Human Things collapsed on the ground, the gaping maw of an Old Ones’ retainer nearly touching his neck. A foul smell assaulted his senses, and he instinctively recoiled. Like an eel, he got up from the ground and kicked the Old Ones’ retainer in the backside.
The entire sea seemed to freeze.
The world fell silent.
Xi Wei held his sword sheath in his left hand and slowly drew his sword with his right. His expression was solemn as the blade of the Supreme Sword was gradually drawn from its sheath, with infinite radiance condensing onto the drawn blade, like twisted ribbons.
One-third of the sword was drawn.
Xi Wei’s eyes locked onto R’lyeh City in the distance. He let out a low roar: “Slash!”
The moment his voice fell, a dazzling sword light tore through the void, like a crescent moon. The world suddenly turned white, as if covered in snow, like a snowy region.
The whistling sword energy split the sea vertically, sending up thousand-zhang waves that rose like towers and palaces. From an inch in front of the East Sea Great Wall’s gate, wherever the sword energy passed, all the Old Ones’ retainers were annihilated. Their bodies were struck by the invisible gale, vanishing like snowflakes in a fire.
Next was R’lyeh City.
The indestructible R’lyeh was cut in half by the sword. A bright line split the entire city down the middle, but more and more cracks appeared all over it. In the next second, it shattered into pieces.
This sword light continued forward, right into the cosmos. The sword mark, like a laser, pierced through Blue Star, traveled an unknown number of light-years, causing all the meteors and planets along the way to explode. It finally landed on Saturn’s surface, its atmosphere cut and pushed aside, leaving behind a shining sword wound.
Xi Wei had been very restrained with this strike, drawing only one-third of the blade. If he had drawn the entire sword, R’lyeh City and even Blue Star would have been destroyed.
On the East Sea Great Wall, no one could fully comprehend the magnificence of this strike. They could only see a crescent moon that seemed to cut the entire sky in half, followed by a violent wind. The light and heat, more scorching than a nuclear explosion, made them squint their eyes.
On the waves, countless corpses of Old Ones’ retainers floated. R’lyeh City was gone, shattered into fragments that sank to the seabed.
Xi Wei looked at the sea surface. One of the players was struggling in the sea of corpses. It turned out to be an old acquaintance. He smiled slightly and raised his hand upwards.
Nobody Does Human Things screamed as he shot out of the sea and flew towards the East Sea City Wall, still wailing.
Xi Wei’s angel wings unfurled behind him. Holy Light spread outwards, filling the entire eastern coastline of the sea, truly like a blazing sun. The entire sky was illuminated as if it were daytime. Wherever the Holy Light reached, people’s injuries healed, and their fatigue gradually disappeared.
The radiance continued to spread throughout China, purifying all the Old Ones’ contamination and burning the corpses in the sea to ashes. The entire sea receded its blood-red color, turning a hazy gray. With the ebb and flow of the tide, it would gradually return to its former azure blue.
As for the Old Ones’ retainers in other parts of Blue Star, without R’lyeh City as a backup, they were no longer a threat. All that was needed was to kill Cthulhu, and all the Old Ones’ retainers would naturally die. The people who had been contaminated and driven mad could also escape the ramblings of the Old Ones.
But where had Cthulhu gone? He scanned the entire Blue Star multiple times with his divine sense, even checking the Earth’s core, but he couldn’t find the giant octopus anywhere.
“Holy shit, holy shit, this is too f***ing awesome…” Nobody Does Human Things slumped onto the city wall, staring blankly at the blazing sun in the sky. He remembered that when they left Cain, the King of Winter was also very powerful, but he was definitely not this powerful. With one strike, he had shattered an island larger than Japan. What’s more, he clearly saw that the King of Winter hadn’t even fully drawn his sword, only the blade.
“Look at the divinity on the King of Winter, the colorful black. He probably fused all the divinity of Cain’s gods…” Player Name (M) also looked at the sky with a look of horror, sighing, “With the power of all of Cain bestowed upon him, how could he not be this powerful?”
*Thump thump thump* – A series of hurried footsteps climbed to the top of the city wall. Scheming Frog ran to the edge of the wall, his magical power surging, and shouted towards the knight in the sky, “Your Majesty Winter, Qi Wub took Cthulhu into subspace to prevent Blue Star from suffering. Please save him!”
The shout, amplified by magic power, carried clearly to Xi Wei’s ears with the wind.
Subspace? Xi Wei’s eyes flashed with divine light. Although his figure remained in place, it became ethereal, like an unstable projection, distorting intermittently. In reality, he had ascended to the fifth dimension, returning to the point where Qi Wub had pulled Cthulhu into subspace. His gaze fell upon that point, and through space, time, and dimensions, he instantly locked onto Cthulhu’s location.
Found him! A cold smile curved his lips. The giant octopus was thinking of escaping subspace and fleeing into the infinite starry sky. It wanted to run! But could it escape?
