Chapter 2: New Century (Epilogue)
Chapter: Chapter 1: Recruiting Venom Dragons
Chapter 1: Recruiting Venom Dragons
The nest of the Venom Dragon was a cylindrical rock structure with a very rough and wild artistic style.
It was approximately a five-to-six-meter radius nest built on a giant brown rock, containing seven or eight dragon eggs much smaller than Connie.
They were also in various colors.
Above the dragon eggs lay a Venom Dragon of immense size, appearing very ancient with wrinkled skin. It sat there peacefully, feigning sleep, motionless.
This old dragon seemed to be part of the nest’s structure, and Xi Wei couldn’t command it to move.
In short, the dragon’s nest looked completely out of place with the nearby outpost and monastery.
After much thought, Xi Wei decided to first exchange for a dragon to see.
So, he called a castle guard and ordered him to bring over a ton of magical beast meat.
The previous magical beast siege had provided Winter City with a large reserve of Dried Magical Beast Meat, enough to last two years. Now, a portion would be used to create a Venom Dragon.
However, he couldn’t rely on Dried Magical Beast Meat for everything in the future, as the loss was too great. It took two tons of magical beast meat to produce just over a ton of Dried Magical Beast Meat, which was not cost-effective.
From now on, any players wishing to change class to Venom Dragon would have to hunt magical beasts themselves.
Prepare two tons of magical beast meat and two Tier 3 Magical Beast Cores. One portion would be used for class change, and Xi Wei would keep the other to replenish Winter City’s supplies, which would be quite satisfactory.
The magical beast meat was ready. Xi Wei went to the castle’s warehouse and retrieved a Tier 3 Magical Beast Core, placing it on top of the mountain of Dried Magical Beast Meat.
“I want to recruit a Venom Dragon.”
Xi Wei contacted the dragon’s nest in his mind. Previously, the system had handled this for him.
Unlike the previous recruitment method, he didn’t see any slots pop up this time.
Instead, the old dragon, which had been feigning sleep above, opened its eyes. With a strange “gugu” cry, it flapped its broad dragon wings and flew down from the nest.
Without even greeting Xi Wei, it began to ravenously devour the Dried Magical Beast Meat on the ground.
Finally, it crunched and swallowed the Tier 3 Magical Beast Core.
“Gugu ga,” the dragon glanced at Xi Wei, as if telling him to wait, and then flew back to the nest.
Xi Wei was surprised to find that the first thing the old dragon did upon returning to the nest was to incubate an egg!
It only symbolically sat on one of the eggs for a moment, and the dragon egg miraculously grew larger and larger.
It expanded until it occupied half the nest, pushing the old dragon high up before stopping.
“Crack, crack.” The dragon egg began to shake slightly.
A bump appeared on the top of the egg, first a small piece broke off, and then the cracks widened.
First to break through the shell was a sharp, brown snout. As if taking a breath of fresh air, the snout retracted.
Next, a claw with retracted wings scrabbled out from the cracked area of the giant egg.
The newly born dragon quickly used its dragon wings to push open the eggshell and ate the entire shell in no time.
Then, with a “guga” cry, it jumped out of the dragon’s nest and landed in front of Xi Wei.
It lowered its ferocious dragon head close to the ground, showing submission.
Xi Wei examined the Venom Dragon carefully.
Its initial level was 38, and with three more levels, it would enter Tier 4, reaching a stage equivalent to a human Great Knight.
This was excellent. Once mass-produced, they could immediately become an elite force. Most importantly, they could fly and possess both physical and poison damage.
Venom Dragons were very different from Giant Dragons.
Firstly, although they were called dragons, they were not true Giant Dragons, merely possessing a diluted Giant Dragon bloodline.
Compared to Giant Dragons, whose wingspans could easily reach hundreds of meters, the seven-to-eight-meter wingspan of the Venom Dragon was quite unimpressive, only slightly larger than a Griffin.
Furthermore, Venom Dragons had longer snouts, slender necks, no scales, and their forelegs were connected to their wings.
This was unlike the Giant Dragons of the Cain Continent, which had wide snouts, relatively thick and short necks, bodies covered in sturdy scales, powerful limbs, and sky-obscuring dragon wings that were separate, giving them a fierce and imposing appearance.
While Venom Dragons were also fierce and terrifying, their heads resembled those of snakes more, lacking dragon horns. Their eyes were small, and their yellowish-brown vertical pupils gave them a cold appearance.
“Can you understand me?”
Xi Wei tentatively tried to communicate with the Venom Dragon.
The Venom Dragon let out a “guga” cry and raised its head, seeming to await Xi Wei’s command.
“Carry me to that place.”
Xi Wei pointed to the balcony of his room on the castle’s top floor.
He was surprised to find that, compared to the Crusaders before, the Venom Dragon, being merely a magical beast, seemed to have slightly higher intelligence.
He wondered if it was related to their strength.
Not only could it respond to Xi Wei’s words, but it also lowered its body to make it easier for Xi Wei to sit on it.
Soon, the Venom Dragon effortlessly carried Xi Wei into the air. Its speed was fast, and in a few moments, it reached the top-floor balcony.
Xi Wei dismounted the dragon and assessed the recent flying experience.
Clearly, the Venom Dragon was faster than the Griffin.
However, its stability was very poor.
Sitting on it gave the constant feeling of falling off.
Moreover, there were no good grip points while riding the dragon. It was completely devoid of hair, with rough sandpaper-like skin all over. Where was a rider supposed to find leverage?
Even with some tiny spines on its back, they were very sharp and uncomfortable to touch.
It seemed that when creating a Dragon Knight Order in the future, both players and soldiers would need to have a custom dragon saddle made to use with them.

[Irrelevant Information] (Can be skipped)
From some unknown time, a group of creatures began to appear, circling and playing in the sky above Winter City.
Later, we learned that these creatures were the army under the King of Winter.
They were called Venom Dragons.
What?
You ask if these dragons have caused trouble in our lives?
Hmm… how should I put it…
It was fine at first.
These dragons would occasionally land on our balconies, and sometimes their clumsiness would break some flower pots. Later, we tidied up the items on the balconies, and such incidents stopped happening.
However, for some reason.
Everything changed after these Venom Dragons suddenly started speaking human language.
They were very mischievous, making “ao ao” calls and shouting strange “wola wola” slogans. They would peek at us while we were bathing, regardless of gender, criticize our appearance, and snatch away girls’ undergarments…
Damn it, if they couldn’t fly, I would definitely hit their heads hard with a clothes pole!
Hatred?
Not to that extent.
Most of them are still quite friendly.
For example, one Venom Dragon helps me deliver goods every day, and it has a strange name, something like “Flash Burial of Graves”…
