Chapter 2: New Century (Epilogue)
Chapter 39: The Rapid Growth of Players
Eggs? What eggs?
Azure- Dragon Snake eggs!
The Players’ eyes lit up. They thought, “If there are eggs, we won’t be tired anymore.”
Isn’t raising pets one of the great joys of playing fantasy games? They couldn’t get a Nine-tailed Fox Demon, a Seven-star Divine Dragon, or Deathwing, but they could still fantasize about hatching an Azure- Dragon Snake egg, right?
So, when Leisurely Moment (M) walked out of the castle, he saw a sea of Players with their fists clenched, their eyes shining with desire, as if they wanted to skin Leisurely Moment (M) and write “I will not do this again” all over him.
Not all Players were here; this was just a small portion. The main force was near the lake shore.
After Leisurely Moment (M) completed his mission, he immediately notified the still-fleeing Cheating Buddy, sending him his coordinates.
Now, a large wave of Players was surging towards the Azure- Dragon Snake’s location.
At the same time, Cheating Buddy had already escaped the reeds with Rick. The Azure- Dragon Snake pursued them closely, spitting lightning breaths as it chased.
If they had been a moment later, he and the NPC might have been electrocuted to death in the water.
“You damn thing, you…keep chasing, keep chasing! I’ll blow up your parking lot with a tornado…and send myself straight back to the respawn point!”
Cheating Buddy gritted his teeth. Although he couldn’t feel fatigue, his speed was decreasing after running at full speed, and his breathing became more and more labored.
Fortunately, the Players who had come to support them had arrived.
[Ding! Detected a trigger BOSS]
[Azure- Dragon Snake has been marked]
“Brothers, today we will capture this beast! We will drink its blood and reward our troops!”
“Catapult, catapult, hurry and throw me out! Can’t you see Cheating Buddy is about to give up?”
Yan, the cool, sat on the spoon of a catapult, urging a Player beside him. The Player had been studying the catapult’s mechanism for a long time and finally figured it out. With a sneer, he kicked the mechanism.
“Go!”
With a “clatter,” Yan, the cool, was thrown out by the catapult due to the principle of leverage.
In mid-air, he drew his Greatsword, performed two and a half forward rolls and a three-turn tuck, enduring the churning in his stomach while dizzy, and roared:
“Evil beast! Do you recognize the sword technique descending from the heavens?”
The Azure- Dragon Snake was about to open its great maw and swallow Cheating Buddy and Rick, who were right in front of it.
Suddenly, it heard Yan, the cool’s roar from above. It belatedly looked up and saw a human wielding a giant sword, spitting and tumbling as he fell.
With a loud “bang,” Yan, the cool, landed on the ground, with only scraps of health left. The Azure- Dragon Snake was stunned by the impact.
A Long Sword, through gravitational potential energy, also pierced its chest, although only a little.

“Holy crap! Brother Frost, your move is awesome!”
“Indeed, if the attack isn’t enough, Newton will help. In theory, an egg dropped from the 25th floor could kill someone.”
“Brothers, stop talking nonsense, I want to play on the seesaw too!”
The Azure- Dragon Snake, stabbed, roared to the sky. Golden lightning crackled all over its body, finally forming a lightning shield. After that, the Players’ suicide attacks were no longer effective.
“Human!!”
“Die!”
Golden lightning transformed into a vast sea of lightning around the Azure- Dragon Snake. But the Players were not stupid. After all, they had been through so many dungeons, and their reaction times were getting faster and faster.
As soon as they saw the Azure- Dragon Snake raise its head and roar, they rolled on the ground like scared rabbits, dodging. In just a few moves, they rolled out of the Azure- Dragon Snake’s skill range.
This was one of the skills Players learned in dungeons: it was important to be willing to roll on the ground during combat.
“It’s just a broken shield, no big deal.”
A Player sneered and took out a Siege Cannon from his backpack.

This kind of Siege Cannon could be directly exchanged with the Quartermaster of the King of Winter (Xi Wei). The price was not expensive: 5,000 Experience Points and ten first-tier Ice and Fire Magic Cores. Arrows could be made by oneself or bought for 100 Experience Points each.
In the dungeons of the Nun and the Black Sword, after the two BOSSes entered their final stage, they would be protected by a shield.
Players were helpless at first until they brought the Siege Cannons in.
A total of ten crossbows were used. The Priest applied a shield to the arrows. In one volley, the weakened magical shields of the Black Sword and the Nun could no longer withstand the attack and shattered.
This was the second skill Players learned: make good use of any bugs that could be exploited. Yes, in the Players’ opinion, bringing the Siege Cannon into the dungeon through their backpack was a bug.
Following the Siege Cannons, Players had also brought in potent incendiary oil and gunpowder bombs obtained by getting the Dwarf Grandmaster drunk. If their backpacks could carry living beings, they would have even brought Carl Bloodhoof, the heavily modified siege cannon, with them.
Thus, hundreds of crossbows were set up by the Players. Nearby Priest Players began to skillfully apply shields to the arrows. Players without crossbows rushed to the front to act as “foot-scratching masters” (low-level attackers).
Now, apart from the BOSS’s area-of-effect damage, simple basic attacks could hardly hit Players anymore.
“Damn it! You hateful bugs, I will turn you into excrement!”
The Azure- Dragon Snake was furious. Its claws were short, and the only useful close-combat method was biting.
But these jumping monkeys in front of it were even more slippery than mudfish, rolling everywhere, circling around it, and moving with incredible agility.
Even worse, some bugs were pouring potent incendiary oil around it, trying to set it on fire.
It was unbearable!
“Warrior Players, get down and fire!”
The situation was urgent. The Players operating the crossbows only gave a brief notification. Whether they could dodge depended on the skill of the Warrior Players in front.
Hurtling their teammates had always been the Players’ specialty.
“Boom, boom, boom…”
Arrows as thick as arms shot out from the Siege Cannons, covering the sky like a destructive force, smashing towards the Azure- Dragon Snake.
Although the power of these siege weapons was not as great as various siege cannons, since their name included “siege,” they were definitely not to be trifled with.
Even a sixth-tier Magical Beast couldn’t withstand them. It didn’t have the flexible body of a Sky Knight to dodge. Such a large mass of flesh was an advantage but also a huge drawback.
The Azure- Dragon Snake could no longer dodge.
Its lightning shield lasted only a moment before being shattered by the concentrated fire of the Siege Cannon arrows. More arrows continued to hit its body.
Although its terrifying defense prevented penetrating wounds, it was still shot into a hedgehog. Blood stained a small part of the lake, and its entire body was in excruciating pain.
The Azure- Dragon Snake’s eyes were filled with hatred. Lightning gathered in its mouth, and a lightning breath thicker than a basin’s mouth sprayed towards the Players controlling the Siege Cannons.
The second loading of the Siege Cannons took a considerable amount of time. Facing the approaching lightning, most Players only had time to retract their Siege Cannons before being annihilated by the berserk lightning dragon.
However, more Players were also rushing out from the temporary resurrection points and fearlessly joining the battle.
Players were generally approaching Level 30, with a few excellent “account grinders” already reaching Level 32.
The King of Winter (Xi Wei) provided them with equipment, and the dungeons gave them more combat skills and Experience Points. They were gradually forming a force that could not be ignored.
They were no longer cannon fodder and scattered rabble.
“Brave warriors, you have done enough. Now, leave it to Carl!”
“Thump, thump, thump…”
Heavy footsteps echoed, as if stepping on every Player’s heart.
They looked back in astonishment and saw Carl Bloodhoof slowly approaching, carrying a modified King of the Hill Siege Cannon more than twice the size of his own body.
The previous King of the Hill Siege Cannons were fixed in place, but Carl’s version was modified by Groin, with a flexible removable stand and shield.
Carl Bloodhoof grinned sinisterly and placed the King of the Hill Siege Cannon on the ground with a “clang.” He raised the stand, lifted the shield, and took out a large rectangular block of iron from the basket behind him, about to load it into the cannon.
However, at this moment, seven or eight hands grabbed his arm.
The Players, in horror, grabbed Carl, preventing him from loading the cannon and pleaded with him, their faces full of distress:
“No, no, big brother, calm down, calm down!”
“Big brother, don’t fire the cannon, what will we hit then?”
“Yes, big brother, just watch from behind. We’ll notify you when it’s time to fire, okay?”
