Chapter 2: New Century (Epilogue)
Chapter 53: Bombing Dragon Squadron
“Your Majesty, King of Winter.”
Supreme Cloth landed in front of Xi Wei and respectfully bowed. It was not shameful to show respect to one’s boss.
“Hello, brave foreigner, how are you feeling now?”
Xi Wei put on a very official and friendly smile, acting every bit the NPC.
“I feel great, Your Majesty.”
“Good. I’ve called you here today to lead a squadron of Venom Dragons to form an air force. What do you say, can you do it?”
Supreme Cloth’s eyes were filled with surprise. He strongly nodded, suppressing his upturned lips, but he still couldn’t control the dragon tail behind him that wagged vigorously.
Xi Wei found this scene amusing. He had hesitated at first about letting players command Venom Dragons, as players were fickle and difficult to control. But he couldn’t possibly turn into a Venom Dragon himself, could he? That was obviously impossible, and the system didn’t have such a function. System soldiers had low intelligence and were better at obeying orders.
However, the air force was different from the land army. Xi Wei couldn’t command the Venom Dragons on the ground, so the crucial task of commanding them ultimately fell to the players. Xi Wei also wanted to gauge his standing among the players to decide whether to grant them more authority in the future.
“I’d like to discuss my thoughts on the attack methods for the Venom Dragon squadron.”
“First, you fly very high, higher than griffins, which is a huge advantage. Before engaging the enemy, you can completely weaken them by dropping objects from high altitude.”
As Xi Wei spoke, he gestured for soldiers to bring over a basket of spherical objects that had been prepared.
“These are gunpowder bombs made by Master Groin. They are actually of limited power and are more suited for mining. However, adding more gunpowder would make them unstable and pose serious safety risks.”
“But I believe this won’t be a problem for you, so I’ve increased the amount of gunpowder tenfold.”
Supreme Cloth and the other players listened to the King of Winter’s casual words, with big question marks appearing above their heads. Was this something a person would say? What did he mean by ‘this won’t be a problem for you’? And what did he mean by ‘adding the gunpowder tenfold’?! Did he mean that since they could respawn, they could use them as much as they wanted?! Did players have no human rights?!
Regardless of their thoughts, the King of Winter continued:
“…In short, I believe you can all excellently utilize the strength of the flying squadron. These enhanced trigger bombs are now in your hands.”
“Supreme Cloth, do you have any other ideas?”
Xi Wei turned his gaze to the black Venom Dragon in front of him, his clear blue eyes filled with encouragement and approval.
Other ideas? Supreme Cloth pondered for a moment, his eyes darting around, and hesitantly said, “Your Majesty, gunpowder bombs are limited in quantity after all. I think we can also make some dung bombs, or carry stones and drop them from high altitude.”
Xi Wei: “…⊙▽⊙”
To be honest, when it came to acting cunningly, the players were indeed more cunning. He hadn’t even thought of using biological weapons, but the players had already come up with it. It was simply outrageous. However, this did show that players had amazing talent in these areas. As long as it was within control, he should give them more opportunities to exercise their creativity.
With this thought, Xi Wei smiled and nodded, “Your idea is very good. Then it’s settled. We’ll depart at two in the afternoon. Before that, I will order the craftsmen to help you make… uh, dung bombs.”
With the instructions mostly given, Xi Wei had other matters to attend to. The land army still required his inspection and adjustments. Just as he was about to leave, he heard Karl Bloodhoof’s shout from behind.
“Your Majesty, can you let a Venom Dragon carry me? Then I’ll sit on the Venom Dragon and use the Mountain King’s siege cannon from the sky to bomb them all to hell!”
“…”
Xi Wei’s face twitched. Without looking back, he quickened his pace and disappeared from the sight of the players and Karl in a short while.
Seeing that Xi Wei ignored him, Karl Bloodhoof awkwardly scratched his butt and turned to the players and a group of Venom Dragons, chuckling sheepishly, “So, what do you guys think of my proposal? Isn’t it super cool?”
The players were silent, thinking that it was cool, but who among them could lift this strong bull? Not to mention the Mountain King siege cannon. At that moment, let alone hitting the enemy on the ground, the Venom Dragon carrying Karl would be stunned or even killed by the recoil when the cannon fired.
Seeing that no one agreed with his proposal, Karl Bloodhoof shook his head with some disappointment, sighing. “The path of firing cannons is destined to be lonely. When will I find true cannon friends who are passionate about firing cannons?”
…
At three in the afternoon, outside the Eagle Territory.
In the shrubbery outside the Most Territory’s border.
“Count, we are about to reach Winter City. This time, we will surely take down Winter City in one fell swoop, plunder enough resources, and become more prominent nobles in the empire.”
Viscount Budun stood respectfully behind Earl Amper. In just a few months, he seemed to have aged ten years. His back was hunched, his face was pale, and he looked utterly haggard. He would never forget his grudge against the Lord of Eagle Territory. His family business, his beloved son, were all destroyed by that man. Therefore, he was the happiest person attacking Winter City now. Staring in the direction of Winter City, the malice and hatred in his eyes were almost palpable. Blood would be repaid with blood!
“Ha, of course!” Earl Amper smiled confidently and said loudly, “This time we have gathered hundreds of Great Knights, and borrowed several Sky Knights from the Marquis. We have also prepared ample siege equipment.”
“We will assemble them on-site upon arrival at Winter City and immediately put them to use. To prevent any accidents, I have also invited two Legion Magisters.”
“Lord Budun, rest assured, I will avenge you. We will not only capture Winter City, but also occupy it, making it imperial territory, and expand from there to other territories in the Winter Kingdom.”
“Today, all the female companions and servants of the King of Winter will be yours to deal with. If he has any offspring, they can also be yours.”
Viscount Budun was touched to tears. He couldn’t help but kneel on one knee and kowtow, “I am willing to charge into battle for Earl Amper.”
“Hmm, good.” Earl Amper smiled proudly. Suddenly, his peripheral vision caught sight of a large dark shadow in the sky above Winter City. They were moving at an extremely high speed, like a dark cloud.
“What is that?” Earl Amper was startled, his chest felt tight, and a terrifying sense of crisis washed over him, as if a ferocious hand had gripped his heart.
