Chapter 2: New Century (Epilogue)
The number of demons was seemingly endless, standing on the cliff, only a blood-red torrent could be seen.
They ran and leaped, moving in swarms across the wasteland like an army of ants.
The smell of sulfur and the foul odor of the abyss grew increasingly strong.
The already scorching air, stirred by the stale wind from the charging demons, became even hotter, the air itself distorted.
Tattered flags fluttered in the hot wind.
The edges gradually blackened and began to burn.
In the distance, flying demons blotted out the sun.
They gathered together to form a rapidly moving dark cloud, and within a few breaths, they had approached.
“Fall back! Consolidate the defense line!”
Xi Wei suddenly turned, his expression stern, and roared the command.
“Everyone, form ranks!”
“Crusaders, raise your shields!”
The elite Crusaders and Priest legions immediately retreated as Xi Wei commanded, near the plaza of the Novice Village, forming a semicircular defensive bastion around the Resurrection Crystal.
“Clemon, how much longer until the main army of Winter City arrives at Most City?”
The atmosphere suddenly became tense, even Xi Wei’s voice was somewhat subdued.
“Your Majesty, the main army is advancing at full speed and will arrive at Most City in about half an hour.”
Clemon gripped his longsword tightly, ready to engage the demons at any moment.
Xi Wei calculated the time. It had been over an hour since Loli rescued him.
The army of Winter City should have departed three hours ago. If the Crusaders and Priest legions had advanced at a run, they should be near Most City by now, arriving in about half an hour.
Moreover, the Knight Legion would be even faster.
“Alright, then we’ll hold for half an hour!”
Xi Wei nodded slightly, inserted the Temporary Resurrection Crystal into the ground, and after it was fully formed, began assigning missions to the players.
[Ding! Faction Mission updated!]
[Emergency Battlefield Mission activated]
[Mission One: Block the flying demon legion]

A Venom Dragon player had brought about two other players. The number of players present was not large, only a few hundred. Not many elite Priests and Crusaders had arrived either, and this was going to be a hard fight.
Facing the overwhelming flying demons, Xi Wei stood alone before the formation, gripping his longsword with both hands.
Loli had applied various buffs to him, and he was emanating a soft glow, making him particularly conspicuous amidst the dim, blood-red light.
“Ruo Yi, You Ye, Bai Yao, you three stay with Loli. Do not scatter, and do not leave Loli’s healing range.”
Xi Wei slightly turned his head.
Everyone could only vaguely see his profile.
“Then I leave it to you all. Hold for half an hour.”
“I’ll go engage the main force.”
With that, Xi Wei stamped his foot forcefully, and propelled by his Qi, soared upwards, launching towards the flying demon legion.
In an instant, the gaping maws of the Flomors and Crimson Spines were upon him.
Qi suddenly poured into the Conqueror’s Longsword, and the immense Qi energy made the sword vibrate violently, emitting a “buzzing” hum.
Hovering in mid-air.
Xi Wei drew his sword with ferocity.
A white rainbow streaked horizontally for hundreds of meters.
Later, a vertical crescent moon seemed to cleave the blood moon in two.
Brilliant sword light of crossed blades ravaged through the flying demon legion, piercing through the kilometer-long dark cloud of demons from end to end.
The sky rained down severed limbs.
The demons’ blood splattered onto the ground, hitting the groups of demons running below the cliff, making these ground demons even more frenzied as they pounded their mighty chests and roared at the sky.
Xi Wei lowered his gaze and plunged downwards towards the cliff.
More than half of the flying demon legion had already been killed or wounded.
He could have finished off these demons, whose levels were far lower than his, but there was no time.
Because the closest wave of ground demons had already reached the vicinity of the cliff.
As the ground grew closer, Xi Wei did not slow down. Instead, he accelerated his descent with his Qi.
Sparks flew from the friction with the air at extreme speed.
Blazing fire mingled with Qi, leaving a long, fiery trail.
Radiant Bastion activated.
Mad Lion’s Strike activated.
The Conqueror’s Longsword pointed downwards, all his Qi condensed into a single point, carrying an indomitable momentum, like a meteor falling from the sky.
“BOOM—”
A thunderous explosion resounded.
Those on the cliff felt as if an earthquake had struck, making it difficult to stand.
Below the cliff, the mountains and earth split.
The raging Qi, mixed with violent force, tore up the earth’s crust, and scalding lava, spewing thick smoke, flowed inwards along the edges of the massive crater hundreds of meters in radius.
Demon corpses lay densely packed in the deep pit.
They were scattered haphazardly, lying in every direction.
The closer it got to the center of the crater.
The fewer the demon corpses.
Those closer had long since been torn to shreds by the Qi.
They turned to dust amidst the scorching heat.
As the smoke and dust gradually dispersed in the crater.
The King stood tall with his sword, his figure gradually becoming clear.
Xi Wei’s eyes gleamed, his entire being exuded a surge of Qi, his Qi as vast as the sea, as he charged against the tide of demons relentlessly pushing forward.
He was one, yet he was a thousand armies.
The stale wind whistled, and killing intent was rampant.
“Kill—!”
…
Above the cliff, Clemon was directing soldiers and players in resisting the onslaught of the flying demon legion.
“Fall back fifty paces, fire!”
“Crusaders, raise shields for cover!”
“Priest legion, fall back, provide shields for the Crusaders!”
Battle commands were issued in an orderly fashion, and the players, driven by the atmosphere of battle, fought bravely.
“Take down that Flomor that flew in!”
Before Clemon could finish speaking.
A player, with the help of other players, was already thrown into the air.
He roared.
One hand grabbed the Flomor’s wing, while the other, holding a Qi-infused longsword, decapitated it with a single strike.
But immediately after, his body also fell along with the Flomor’s corpse.
However, he did not fall to the ground.
A sturdy figure and strong arms caught him.
It was a warrior from the Bloodhoof Clan.
“Thanks, Bro Bull!”
The player exclaimed with pleasant surprise.
If he had fallen from such a height, he would have probably lost half his health.
“Warrior, you can always entrust your back to us warriors of the Bloodhoof Clan!”
Carl Bloodhoof shook his head, placed the player on the ground, and once again charged to the forefront of the battle line.
With a swing of his three-meter-tall great axe, he split a pouncing Flomor in two.
A gust of foul wind came from behind, but Carl didn’t look back.
He simply reached back and grabbed.
Accurately catching a Flomor by the head.
His thick arm strained, and brain matter splattered.
Carl Bloodhoof wiped his gore-covered hand on his pecs, gripped his great axe, and let out an enraged roar:
“You abyss scum, your grandpa Carl’s axe hasn’t rusted!”
[PS: I haven’t abandoned the old book. The old book also has two chapters of five thousand words daily, and the new book has two chapters of over four thousand words. The old book is written slowly because it’s mentally taxing, while the new book is written quickly because it’s more slice-of-life. The new book takes three hours to write two chapters, while the old book takes me four to five hours.]
