Chapter 45: Loli Understood the Lord’s Intentions
Early the next morning, as the horizon just began to show the first light of dawn, Xi Wei woke up to find that his little maid had already left.
He was used to such situations; Loli always managed to dress and leave the room without waking him.
Indeed, isn’t she like a little squirrel?
But what about these neatly folded, clean stockings placed beside him? Was she suggesting he should continue wearing them?
Why were they washed, not left as they were? Don’t ask how he knew.
Speaking of which, Xi Wei suddenly remembered something: what had he used to wipe his hands after slapping Ye Hao in Dawn Town last time?
It seemed to be Loli’s stockings…
As he pondered over the details of that incident and which players were present, he gritted his teeth, considering whether to find an opportunity to silence them, or at least make them quit the game.
While lost in these thoughts, Xi Wei prepared to get up.
But just as he had put on his shirt and was about to get out of bed, the little maid had already pushed open the door, carrying a basin of hot water.
“Master~ time to wash up.”
Loli’s soft, sweet voice called out to Xi Wei, though she had already placed the basin in front of him.
“Um… Loli, these stockings…” Xi Wei rubbed his face, trying to figure out how to bring up the topic of the stockings beside his bed.
“Does Master not like them?”
Loli blinked her big eyes, glanced at the stockings that had been touched, and then fixed her gaze on Xi Wei’s face.
“Well… it’s not that I don’t like them, it’s just…”
Xi Wei found his face heating up under the little maid’s gaze, his words becoming hesitant.
But before he could finish, he saw Loli blush prettily and take his hand, placing it on her black-stockinged thigh.
“Loli understands Master’s intentions… Master, you… you can take them off yourself.”
With that, Loli obediently sat down by the bed.
Her face was flushed, and she gently lifted her maid’s long skirt, placing her delicate, slender legs softly on Xi Wei’s thighs.
“Take… take them off?”
Xi Wei looked at the black-stockinged legs on his lap, his mind going blank, unsure where to put his hands.
Was Xi Wei really such a pervert?
…
A moment later.
By the time the little maid left the room, blushing, Xi Wei was holding a pair of black stockings, still warm and carrying Loli’s scent.
Xi Wei insisted it had nothing to do with his mind; his hands had moved on their own.
After breakfast, served by Loli, Xi Wei rode alone to Winter City, intending to test how the system awarded Villain Points.
Last night, although the little maid had warmed his bed, he hadn’t received any Villain Points. Xi Wei planned to try a new method that evening to see if he could trick the system.
As he thought this, his peripheral vision caught a familiar figure.
It was the little fatty.
Xi Wei grinned and rode over.
…
In the same familiar alley, he met the same familiar little fatty.
“It’s you, can… Lord!”
The little fatty pointed at Xi Wei, his lips trembling, still remembering the candy that had been taken from him, which he had saved for a long time to buy.
“Lord, I don’t have any candy today, I only have a little money left to buy medicine for my mom. Please don’t take it from me, waaah… waaah.”
Xi Wei thought to himself, “Well, well, before I even said anything, this little guy has spilled everything.”
Amused, he pretended to be menacing, “You have money? Then I’ll take it! Hand over the money you have on you! Otherwise, I’ll rob you every time I see you!”
The little fatty trembled with fear. If the candy thief was going to rob him every time, he would never get to eat candy again!
Though terrified, the little fatty pleaded, sobbing, “Waa… waa, Lord Thief, could you… could you not rob me this time? My mom was beaten, I need to buy… buy medicine for her, waaah…”
This was the second time the little fatty mentioned buying medicine for his mother, and Xi Wei’s attention focused on this matter. Seeing the little fatty’s sadness, he softened his tone and asked:
“Tell me what happened, why was your mom beaten? Explain it clearly, and I won’t rob you.”
The little fatty rubbed his eyes, disbelieving, and after some hesitation, his expression grew even more sorrowful:
“My father died in battle, your knights brought us a pension, but some bad people found out. They broke into our house, trying to take the money, and when my mom refused, they beat her.”
“Your father died in battle? What was his name?”
Xi Wei frowned, surprised that the little fatty’s father had been one of his fallen soldiers.
He also hadn’t expected, despite his strict orders, that such theft of pensions would still occur.
“His name was Bern Critt, and I’m Aubrey Critt.”
“Bern Critt…” Xi Wei murmured, recalling a seemingly honest middle-aged man in his ranks, a sword and shield soldier, not a knight.
He had died while helping Xi Wei and his knights break through at the Black River Territory battlefield.
“Why didn’t you tell me about this?”
The little fatty looked up at Xi Wei, hesitating for a moment before murmuring:
“Because my mother said the Lord was too busy… That you sent us a pension was already beyond our expectations, and we shouldn’t trouble you any further.”
“And,” the little fatty paused, bit his lip, then continued, “Those bad guys said they had knights backing them, and they weren’t afraid of any retaliation.”
“Mother also said you wouldn’t punish a knight over this matter.”
“But she doesn’t blame you, we’re just ordinary free citizens. After father died, you sending the pension was already very kind.”
Listening to the little fatty, Xi Wei’s first reaction was disbelief.
He was usually strict with his knights and paid them well, more than most lords would. Such incidents shouldn’t happen.
But soon his face darkened. These matters should be taken seriously; he would need to investigate personally.
