Chapter 244: Guiding Technique of the Stars
Though through unremitting effort, he finally succeeded.
At last, a wisp of starlight responded to his summons, piercing through the abyss’s barrier and arriving before him.
A beam of silver starlight, parting the clouds, descended from the demon realm’s sky, which was shrouded in blood-red moonlight, onto the Star Magus.
At this moment, the Star Magus was infused with starlight. His entire being surged with magical power, his robe billowed, and a connected star trail appeared on his chest.
“Demon!”
The Star Magus looked up.
Starlight even flickered from his nose and mouth.
“You will pay for your ignorance!”
“Buzz—”
Dozens of silver spell arrays unfolded behind the Star Magus. Like butterfly wings, they lifted him into mid-air.
This all happened very quickly.
Qi Wub extended a demonic claw towards the Star Magus, but the latter seemed to possess a natural barrier.
The demonic claw, reaching out from the spatial rift, was twisted and repelled by the starlight before it could get close, making no progress.
This was the effect of the Star Magus’s Star Gravity Shield, far superior to an elemental mage’s shield.
“Guiding Technique of the Stars!”
The Star Magus spread his arms, and the silver spell arrays behind him expanded outwards with his movements, covering half the sky.
These silver spell arrays rotated around Qi Wub. No matter how Qi Wub moved to dodge, the arrays kept perfect sync with him.
He was completely locked onto by the Guiding Technique of the Stars.
He had to stop the mage in the sky who was channeling the spell!
Qi Wub, flapping his wings, tore through space and charged towards the Star Magus. However, the Guiding Technique of the Stars was incredibly fast, taking less than 0.5 seconds from array deployment to completion.
When did those slow mages become so efficient?
“Be buried in the fall of the stars.”
The Star Magus raised one hand, seeming to cradle a wisp of starlight, and uttered the final pronouncement!
“Buzz—”
The silver arrays encircling Qi Wub’s head expanded to their limit and glowed intensely.
The arcane spell runes gradually faded and disappeared.
In their place.
Appeared an endless starry sky and the cosmos.
Around an unknown planet, the elliptical asteroid belt suddenly deformed completely, flying towards dozens of warped spatial vortexes.
These spatial vortexes were connected to the silver spell arrays above Qi Wub’s head.
“Boom boom boom—”
A series of ear-splitting roars echoed.
Whether it was the Corrupted Players or the soldiers of Winter City, anyone who looked up at the sky lost their sight, hearing only the whistling wind and the roaring of mountains crumbling!
The stars were falling!
Under the Star Magus’s control, the starfall was confined within a certain range, but the shockwave of the starfall still caused the ground to shake. (Player Name) and Claudia stumbled and fell to the ground, bumping into each other.
“Star Burst!”
The Star Magus clenched his fists.
His star-like shining eyes gazed at the area being consumed by the stars.
All the stars, as if manipulated by a large hand, were drawn together by an unknown force, compressing and colliding. Amidst intense heat, even more violent explosions occurred.
“Boom boom boom—”
(Player Name), who had been lying on Claudia, was thrown up by an even more violent tremor from the ground. This time, he happened to land on a Corrupted Player.
They were like dishes being flipped around in a pot, soon seeing stars and foaming at the mouth.
A moment later.
The tremors gradually subsided.
At the site of the starburst, only a mound of silver meteoric debris remained.
“He should be dead by now…”
The Star Magus, exhausted, fell from the sky to the ground.
He usually sparred with the Sky Knights of Winter City, but even three Sky Knights attacking him simultaneously wouldn’t give him such a sense of pressure.
Therefore, he had to seize every opportunity and go all out. Fortunately, the final result was quite good.
From the outside, the effect might not be apparent, but as the developer and caster of the spell, the Star Magus knew very well that the starburst was more than just an explosion and shockwave.
The high temperature within this small mound was comparable to volcanic lava.
This meant that any life forms trapped within the ruins would not only be ground into a pulp by the impact of the starburst but also dissolved by the heat.
Even demons with strong regenerative abilities would find it difficult to survive in such a harsh environment.
“The Star Magus is that awesome!?”
(Player Name), who had watched the entire battle, was so astonished his mouth hung open.
He patted his sore backside and waddled over to the Star Magus, helping him up. His mind began to stir with thoughts.
“Brother Magus, do you think I have any talent for learning magic?”
He put on a fawning smile, acting subserviently.
“Look how weak I am now; I can’t even get involved in your battles. If I could learn some powerful star magic, I’m sure I could help in our future journey.”
The Star Magus was utterly exhausted and too tired to speak. He simply rolled his eyes at (Player Name) and closed his eyes to rest peacefully.
There were no stars in the abyss.
After casting the Guiding Technique of the Stars, he no longer had enough mental energy to follow the starlight.
It would be difficult for him to recover his magic power, and he could only use the standard meditation technique for mages.
However, the effect was not good, as there was a loss of energy during the conversion of magic substance into star power.
Before he had walked far,
(Player Name) suddenly stopped.
Because he noticed that within the ruins made of silver meteoric debris, there was still an HP Bar!
Meteors were not known to have HP Bars, so this HP Bar could only belong to Qi Wub.
Although the HP was very low, it was visibly regenerating, and was about to reach one-fifth.
Good heavens.
(Player Name) was shocked.
Was Qi Wub that resilient?
He hadn’t died from that?!
He couldn’t help but nudge the Star Magus, who was slung over his shoulder, and said anxiously:
“Brother, don’t sleep yet, that Corrupted Player who was hit by the starburst didn’t die! He’s still alive!”
“Not dead?” The Star Magus opened his eyes upon hearing this. He frowned and looked towards the ruins.
He then probed with his senses, detecting no trace of life.
No heartbeat, no breathing.
Within the entire ruins, there was only intense heat and deathly silence.
All of this indicated.
That the Corrupted Player was as dead as one could be.
So he shook his head and asked (Player Name) in confusion,
“He is already dead. I don’t know why you say that, but the Guiding Technique of the Stars was a spell I cast. I can sense that there is no life essence within.”
(Player Name)’s mouth twitched upon hearing this.
For them, players, seeing the HP Bar was the most reliable way to determine if an enemy was dead. But he couldn’t possibly say he could see an HP Bar in the ruins!
Would the Star Magus understand what an HP Bar was?
Probably not.
If he mentioned something as fantastical as an HP Bar, (Player Name) felt the Star Magus would look at him as if he were an idiot.
Gritting his teeth, a flash of inspiration struck (Player Name). He pretended to be mysterious and began to concoct a story.
“We’ve encountered these Corrupted Players before.”
“Before you arrived in this world, they had already fought many times with His Majesty, the King of Winter. These Corrupted Players have strong concealment abilities, so it’s normal for you not to be able to tell if he’s still alive.”
Having said this, (Player Name)’s expression turned serious. He leaned close to the Star Magus’s ear and whispered:
“As Chosen Ones, His Majesty has granted us special abilities, allowing us to sense enemy vitality more accurately. Please keep this a secret.”
“I swear, that Corrupted Player is really not dead!”
