Chapter 2: New Century (Epilogue)
Is the Great Knight the most powerful existence in Triumph City?
Angus remained silent on the surface, but his heart was almost bursting with laughter.
What has happened to humanity?
A thousand years ago, a Great Knight was only slightly better than cannon fodder on the battlefield.
Now, even Great Knights have become so rare. He couldn’t imagine how the Undead were supposed to lose this time, or who could possibly stop the attack of so many Bone Dragons.
“Then we’ll register you now. What do you think?”
“Of course, no problem.”
Angus readily agreed.
Although he wanted to transform into a Bone Dragon at this very moment and convert all living beings in Triumph City into the Undead, such an action, while satisfying, would create too much of a stir.
Even without any human powerhouses capable of threatening him, Angus still planned to act in secret. This stemmed from the inherent caution of the Undead, as well as the strict teachings of the Undead Emperor!
Angus left, accompanied by Shirina and Phil. The Goblin Gusev sat stacking debris, gazing blankly at Angus’s retreating figure.
He felt a chilling aura emanating from Angus, an aura he was very familiar with. He possessed a Bone Ring that could summon the Undead, and that ancient ring had a similar aura.
“How could it be an Undead…”
Gusev shook his head, thinking he was getting old and overly sensitive.
That was clearly a righteous Sky Knight, filled with a strong sense of justice, completely different from those evil Undead.
“I didn’t expect you to be a Sky Knight!”
At the entrance of the Adventurer’s Guild, Shirina looked at Angus with adoration, her eyes shining like starlight. She knew Angus was powerful, but she hadn’t expected him to be this powerful.
In the entire Karari Empire, there were fewer than twenty recorded Sky Knights, making her heart race with excitement.
Girls are naturally drawn to strength, and moreover, Angus was her savior, not to mention his handsome appearance.
“There’s nothing to brag about.” Angus said with a calm expression, acting like a well-mannered gentleman.
“Now we’re also Diamond Rank Adventurers. This is the Adventurer’s Guild leader’s badge. I’ll entrust it to you.”
He took out an exquisite badge and placed it in Shirina’s hand, a sunny smile constantly present on his lips.
“Can… can I really have this?”
Shirina looked at Angus with joyful surprise, her heart pounding.
The badge was made of ordinary crystal and wasn’t worth much money, but Angus giving it to her now felt like an affirmation of her status, at least that’s how she perceived it.
It was akin to how, in modern society, a boyfriend might give his salary card to his girlfriend.
There was an unspoken significance to it.
“Of course. This is for you, Guild Leader Shirina.”
Angus nodded, gesturing for Shirina to accept the badge.
“We will definitely become the strongest adventurer group in Triumph City, Mr. Angus!”
The Mage girl clenched her fist, full of spirit.
“I believe in your judgment, Miss Shirina. However, let’s head back first. I’m getting a bit hungry…”
“Alright, Mr. Angus~ Today, I’ll let you taste my cooking. I guarantee you’ll be satisfied~”
Night fell.
Angus gently pushed away the girl’s arm.
Don’t misunderstand. Although they were in the same bed, he did nothing, as the Undead lacked the corresponding functions.
It was only because Shirina was afraid. To help her sleep peacefully, he allowed this humble female human to embrace the magnificent, the Undead Emperor’s, the incredibly handsome, former Gold Dragon and current Ghost Dragon mount!
“Mmm…”
Perhaps disturbed by Angus’s movement, the sleeping girl whimpered in her dream.
Angus frowned, a fierce glint in his eyes. If Shirina woke up at this moment and asked him where he was going, he might not be able to resist his killing intent and end her.
“Mr. Angus…”
Shirina mumbled, turned over, and hugged the pillow beside her.
“Please don’t leave… leave Shirina…呜…”
Fortunately, Shirina did not wake up.
The coldness in the room gradually receded.
Angus took a deep breath and lightly tapped Shirina’s forehead with his finger. A sinister dark light flashed, and the girl immediately fell into a deeper sleep.
The Undead were adept at using mental magic. This sleep spell was a very basic application, more potent than a Brass Dragon’s sleep breath, but it could only affect a few individuals at a time.
Taking advantage of the night, Angus, enveloped in a gray-green mist, floated out of the room. It was a dark and windy night, with a solitary cold moon hanging in the sky. A surrounding silence enveloped everything as if the world had fallen asleep.
Tonight, Angus intended to cause some trouble within Triumph City.
There were many ways for the Undead to form.
Regardless of the method, the prerequisite was always death. However, the strength of the resulting Undead varied with the manner of death.
The stronger the resentment and malevolent energy, the more powerful the awakened Undead.
To cultivate some powerful Undead, he had to ensure that the humans in Triumph City died miserably, enduring extreme pain and fear. This required the process of death not to be too swift…
“Nothing is more suitable for creating the Undead than a plague. Of course, some ‘seasonings’ will need to be added…”
During the day, Angus had almost explored the entire Triumph City under Shirina’s guidance.
The residents of this city relied on the river near Triumph City for their water supply.
To obtain clean water, the governor of Triumph City had built a reservoir in the city center and stationed heavy troops to guard it.
The place Angus was heading to was the reservoir in the city center.
One had to admit that the governor of Triumph City had good taste. The entire reservoir was built in an oval shape, surrounded by lush greenery.
During the day, many pedestrians would sit on the wooden benches around the reservoir to cool off, and there were no shortage of couples among them.
But at night, this was the most heavily guarded place in Triumph City.
However, this strict security was only for ordinary people.
In Angus’s eyes,
the seemingly tight patrol routes were riddled with loopholes. Even with only the strength of a Knight Rank, he could move in and out with ease.
Transforming into a wisp of gray smoke, Angus glided along the ground, silently infiltrating the reservoir.
In the lake water, he transformed back into his colossal Ghost Dragon form, his ferocious dragon body stretching out freely.
Although this action would cause ripples on the water’s surface,
such a small disturbance would not attract the attention of the garrison.
“Plague release…”
Within Angus’s eye sockets, the Undead Ghost Fire pulsed slightly. Then, he opened his massive maw, and illusory specters, flies, and maggots surged out like a black cloud, pouring into the water and disappearing.
Finally, Angus broke off one of his own toe bones and planted it into the silt of the reservoir. This Ghost Dragon toe bone contained the aura of the Undead, and it would serve as the core medium for transforming the dying into the Undead.
