Chapter 2: New Century (Epilogue)
For centuries, elves would frequently enter the Hermit Forest and frolic before the unicorns.
The beauty of elves was undeniable.
They could be said to be the most beautiful race on the entire continent.
Yet, the unicorns felt no interest in these elf girls.
With just a glance, they could tell these elf girls had ulterior motives for approaching them and wished to contract them as mounts.
But this was not pure!
It was not the pure maiden they desired!
At this moment, Miska was grazing on the most succulent grass on the lawn. The emerald green blades still held the sweet dew of early morning, converging the natural fragrance of the Emerald Forest, making it even more delicious than the Life Spring.
A gentle breeze swept by, his snow-white mane dancing like silver mist in the soft glow of dawn. Miska felt an unparalleled nobility at this moment; no pure maiden or mother unicorn was worthy of him!
He was a noble bachelor!
“Oh~ Shana, oh~ Feierxi, oh~ Jenny~ Oh! Dailamei~ Oh oh…”
A mournful chant reached his ears.
Miska couldn’t help but furrow his brow.
He knew this voice all too well.
It belonged to the disgrace of the entire unicorn herd, Moska, his twin brother.
Having encountered 99 maidens in an illusion.
His intelligent brother had signed contracts with 99 girls.
His willpower was zero!
“Shut up, Moska! Stop mumbling those women’s names, they are illusions!”
Miska couldn’t stand it any longer. He walked up to Moska and kicked him in the backside with his hoof.
“Ouch—” Moska yelped first.
Then, he turned and realized it was his brother, and he smiled melancholically:
“Good morning, brother. I didn’t expect you to be here eating grass too…” He nonchalantly brushed off the hoof print on his backside with his tail, then stood beside Miska, looking up at the sky at a forty-five-degree angle:
“You don’t know, brother, that kick you just gave me reminded me of Monica… The first time she rode me, she was clumsy and accidentally kicked me in the butt. Oh~ smooth, soft, fair, and fragrant little feet, I still remember them, oh~”
“Enough!” Miska roared through gritted teeth.
“You disgrace to unicorns, what’s so great about those women? They’re all fake!”
“No, brother, you don’t understand,” Moska shook his head. “You don’t understand that feeling.”
His eyes held a trace of reminiscence as he sighed:
“When a pure maiden walks on the grass with bare feet, a sweet smile on her face, it’s a moment of heart’s flutter. When they gently stroke your head with their soft little hands, oh~ can you imagine? It’s like the first ray of spring sunlight, accompanied by a cool breeze, caressing the top of your head, oh~ just thinking about it is intoxicating. Not to mention when they look at you with tentative expressions, wanting to ride you. Their sweet fragrance will linger in your nostrils, their hesitant demeanor will captivate you, oh~ and then…”
“Damn it! Just wallow in those illusions until you die! I will never become friends with any maiden. I am a noble unicorn; no one is worthy of us!”
Miska could not tolerate Moska’s endless prattling.
He decided to distance himself from his deeply “poisoned” brother.
In fact, there were quite a few unicorns like this in the Hermit Forest, but they usually became infatuated with one maiden in an illusion, not as absurd as his brother.
For centuries, no one other than elves had been able to enter the Emerald Forest.
The unicorns also did not wish to leave.
Because once they left, they would face the pursuit of human armies.
Although their strength was considerable.
Even the best fighter couldn’t win against a crowd.
This was also why many unicorns died of unrequited love and despair.
Unicorns’ affection for pure maidens leaned more towards a pet’s devotion to its master—an emotion built on friendship but contrary to love.
This was why when pure maidens established families, unicorns would choose to leave sadly, rather than launching an attack against the maiden and her family in anger.
“Brother, you will eventually find the one who captivates your heart! This is our unicorn destiny!”
Moska’s voice echoed from behind him. Miska quickened his pace, letting the annoying sounds dissipate into the wind.
What unicorn destiny?
Go to hell!
He thought indignantly.
He didn’t know how long he had run when a road made of fireflies suddenly appeared before him. Miska looked up, his eyes wide. At the end of the firefly road, he saw three women.
One was a demi-elf, with beast ears and tail, smiling charmingly. Another was a juvenile dragon, her eyes squinting as she smiled, humming a joyful tune, appearing naive and adorable.
The last one, standing between the two girls, was an unusually tall woman.
Her azure eyes seemed to flash with lightning.
Her majestic physique, lion-maned golden hair, chiseled nose, and alluring thin lips. Behind her, she carried a greatsword longer than Miska himself.
What captivated him the most, however, was the aura radiating from this tall woman. It was pure nature, the wild frontier, the rushing waterfall, the warm sunshine, and ultimate purity!
Miska stood there, dumbfounded.
The entire unicorn’s mind had entered a state of shock.
His brother’s words echoed in his ears:
“You will eventually find the one who captivates your heart! This is our unicorn destiny!”
At this moment, Miska felt that his destiny.
Had arrived!
“Excuse me, is this the Hermit Forest?”
Xivi pitched her voice, trying to make it sound somewhat gender-neutral.
Disguising herself as a man was a reluctant choice.
After all, the Elven Empress had clearly warned her that these unicorns disliked males.
To be safe and ensure her successful entry into the Emerald Forest, Xivi had no choice but to inconvenience herself. Anyway, with a wig and some lipstick, she looked quite convincing. Even Loli had said she looked like a “very cool female knight.”
“Y-yes, y-yes, y-yes, this is the Hermit Forest!”
Miska felt nervous for the first time.
He finally understood now.
He didn’t dislike pure maidens.
He was just not interested in the type Moska described.
What he was truly interested in were sharp and heroic female knights wearing heavy knight boots and armor, wielding greatswords!
Xivi looked at the stuttering unicorn in confusion, feeling that this legendary creature might have been overly idealized in its depiction, but in reality, it seemed a bit less intelligent.
Hehehe
