Chapter 2: New Century (Epilogue)
Chapter 331: The Simping Unicorn
These unicorns were indeed enthusiastic. In just a moment, they swarmed in front of Xi Wei and his group, forming a dense circle.
Their golden eyes Sparkled, their gazes primarily focused on Xi Wei and Loli. Connie, being a giant dragon, was naturally ignored. After all, how many giant dragons were truly pure? Even the most righteous gold dragon couldn’t claim absolute purity; “dragon nature is lustful” wasn’t just a saying.
“Oh, beautiful female knight, please allow me to bestow my blessings upon you.”
One unicorn with a peculiar tone couldn’t resist the temptation and stepped forward from the herd. It cautiously took two steps, afraid of startling the lady, and tried to touch Xi Wei with its crystal-like horn. Immediately, it was stopped by the other unicorns.
“Moska, have you forgotten your Vanessa? Didn’t you say you liked her the most?”
“And Jenny.” Another unicorn chimed in.
“And Shana, Fellsie~” Yet another unicorn added.
“Enough! They are all illusions. I cannot remain immersed in illusions forever. Life must move forward!”
Moska, exposed, flushed a deep red, as if a Nightmare Beast’s head had been attached to its snow-white neck.
“Oh, beautiful female knight~” Moska refused to give up. “Please let me bless you. Unicorns can only bless once in a lifetime, and I haven’t blessed anyone yet!”
“Neither have we! We are also willing to bless you!” The surrounding unicorns continued to block Moska. While loudly recommending themselves, they also edged closer to Xi Wei. Each of them hoped to bless Xi Wei, then further sign a contract with him to become his mount and battle companion.
The scene devolved into chaos. Miska was already regretting bringing the female knight and her companions here.
“Everyone, get aside! This female knight and her companions were brought here by me. They have important matters that require our help. Do not cause trouble or provoke them.”
Miska’s authority was quite significant. When he spoke, the surrounding unicorns fell silent and opened a path. However, their restless demeanor clearly indicated they hadn’t given up.
Miska led Xi Wei and the others to the shimmering lakeside. Here stood a pavilion built by the unicorns themselves, covering about a hundred square meters. It was in a classic Gothic style, with a spire, arched doorways, and semicircular windows. Outside the pavilion stood a statue of a unicorn, its hooves raised, facing the lake.
“Please rest here for a moment. Allow me to fulfill my duties as a host.”
With that, Miska ordered several enthusiastic unicorns to bring a wooden table and chairs. He then had other unicorns fetch their woven grass mats to place on the chairs. These grass mats were the soft cushions the unicorns usually slept on, and they vied to offer their own. Ultimately, Miska chose the three most exquisite ones, and their weavers stood tall with pride, as if honored.
Soon, dishes of food were served: fragrant beet soup, a diverse fruit platter, and a seemingly delicious velvet cake. To accommodate Connie’s palate, Miska had even specially hunted a woodland giant-butt chicken, roasted to a perfect crisp-tender, and placed it before Connie. To enhance the atmosphere, some unicorns even sang songs they had composed for them. Like elves, this mysterious and noble race possessed rich artistic talents, and with their beautiful singing voices, listening to them was a truly pleasant experience. It was no wonder so many people yearned to have a unicorn as their mount.
At that moment, a group of unicorns bustled about, providing every possible amenity, leaving Xi Wei quite flattered and bewildered about their intentions. Loli, however, was carefully observing. The unicorns kept approaching Xi Wei, their gazes filled with adoration. This seemed strongly related to the Breath of the Wilds on Xi Wei. Perhaps, Xi Wei could conquer these unicorns himself without Shirley needing to intervene. Loli thought this as she ate the sweet fruit, a look of interest on her face, wondering what Xi Wei would do next.
After they had eaten and drunk their fill, Miska, who had subtly revealed his leader status through his actions, began to discuss business with Xi Wei.
“That’s the situation. The Emerald Fortress is about to be attacked by undead forces, and I need your help to activate the Star Dew Sacred Judgment Sword.” Xi Wei concluded. He informed Miska about the scale of the undead army and intelligence on a legendary Ghost Dragon. He also recounted what he had done with the elves, though he deliberately omitted specific details. He merely showed Miska the Life Tree Spirit, which, having been healed once already, appeared to have partially recovered its vitality.
“This is unbelievable!” Miska exclaimed, his gem-like golden eyes widening as he looked at the Life Tree Spirit, which now exuded a much stronger aura. He had known the Life Spring was in trouble, but he never imagined it was on the verge of depletion. Even more astonishing was that this female knight could heal such severe injuries. Truly worthy of his admiration! Miska’s resolve to sign a contract with the female knight strengthened.
“We will handle the task of driving the Star Dew Sacred Judgment Sword to attack the undead,” Miska readily agreed. Fighting against evil undead was something they were already willing to do, and the request came from the female knight he admired.
“But…” Miska hesitated, his expression troubled, and said with difficulty, “Unicorns can only exert their greatest strength after signing a contract with a maiden. Theoretically, driving the Star Dew Sacred Judgment Sword requires fifty unicorns, but this is calculated based on contract-bound unicorns, so….”
“So, I need to find 50 maidens to sign contracts with you?” Xi Wei asked, astonished.
“No, no, no…” Miska, thinking he had frightened the female knight, quickly shook his head. “You only need to sign a contract with me… Because I am the leader of all unicorns and far stronger than them, one of me can be worth dozens of them!” He glanced around as he spoke, his voice low, as if afraid the surrounding unicorns would overhear.
Xi Wei wasn’t foolish. Combining the unicorn’s previous words and actions, he had already figured it out. This unicorn wanted to sign a contract with him to become his mount, and it was fabricating a lie to deceive him. The embarrassment and awkwardness on its silver-white equine face, along with its evading gaze, revealed the unicorn’s inner turmoil. It was reluctant to lie, yet desperate to sign the contract. Why would Xi Wei refuse such a good opportunity? A mount delivered to his doorstep was not to be refused. Although he already had Connie, he couldn’t exactly charge into battle with Connie. Connie’s immense size made her an obvious target on the battlefield, whereas an armored unicorn would be much less conspicuous. However, this unicorn seemed unaware that he was a man…
With this thought, a strange smile flickered across Xi Wei’s lips. He readily agreed, “Of course. There’s no time to delay, as the Emerald Fortress is in danger. Let’s forge the contract right away.”
