Chapter 2: New Century (Epilogue)
Chapter 380: Immersion
Xi Wei had left the castle to deal with a brawl.
Loli did not lie in bed for long before getting up and going to the kitchen.
Although Xi Wei had already used up a lot of ingredients, ingredients were just ingredients; they could only be drunk as beverages and not eaten as meals. To fill one’s stomach, one still had to make proper fresh flower cakes.
A moment later, the castle soldiers delivered a basket of freshly picked roses.
It wasn’t that Loli was reluctant to add more ingredients.
It was just that there weren’t enough ingredients. That was a full hour and more she had spent.
So, she planned to make the rose fresh flower cakes following the normal process this time. At most, she would add a little bit of the leftover honey mixture at the end, like water in a sponge; you could always squeeze some out.
After washing her hands clean, Loli, standing on her tiptoes, placed the basket of roses on the stove. This stove was designed for a chef’s height and was not suitable for her. There was no other way; Loli had to go to the garden outside the kitchen and find two bricks to stand on.
This was much more comfortable.
She began to select the roses from the basket.
To make rose fresh flower cakes, one needed roses that were just about to bloom. Neither green buds nor fully bloomed roses would do.
She placed the suitable roses separately on a silver plate, while the rest were taken outside the kitchen and thrown into a flower bed.
But she wasn’t just discarding garbage.
With a gentle wave of her small hand, pale green life energy enveloped these roses.
“Rustle— rustle—”
A rustling sound was heard.
The rose stems quickly grew roots and then new leaves, turning into a cluster of rose bushes in no time.
After doing all this, Loli smiled, clapped her hands, and turned back into the kitchen.
She plucked the rose petals one by one, placed them on a drying rack to drain the moisture, and then instructed a soldier to fetch a bottle of wine and some lemons.
After waiting for a moment.
The wine and lemons were brought.
However, a resentful Connie was hanging onto the wine bottle.
“My Lord, I encountered Miss Connie on the road, but she insisted on drinking the wine, so I had no choice but to bring her along like this,” the soldier said with a helpless look.
Although Connie was small and cute, he had seen this little girl transform into a giant dragon. She was definitely not small and cute then.
“Thank you for your trouble,” Loli said with an apologetic smile and forcibly pulled Connie off the wine bottle.
After the soldier left, Connie still looked unhappy.
“Children cannot drink alcohol,” Loli said, patting Connie’s little head to comfort her. “Be good, obey me, and I’ll treat you to fresh flower cakes later.”
“But… but I’m not a child,” Connie said, about to cry, sniffing with her snotty nose. “I’m a big dragon, a roaring big dragon!”
Seeing Connie’s distress, Loli felt a pang of sympathy.
However, Connie’s youthful appearance was too deceptive. She felt like giving wine to such a Connie was a crime.
“Wuwuwu…”
Connie’s cries could be heard.
Loli sighed and compromised.
“If you want to drink, you can, but you have to do something for me.”
One must not easily fulfill a child’s request.
This was Loli’s parenting philosophy, learned from Aunt Chris.
“Wuwuwu… Huh? Connie can drink wine if she completes one task for Loli?”
The silly dragon, who was crying just moments ago, instantly brightened up, her big blue eyes staring intently at Loli.
“Of course!” Loli patted her not-so-prominent chest, indicating that her words were trustworthy.
“Alright, then tell me, where do you want Connie to set fire? Or what do you want me to blow up?”
“It’s not that serious,” Loli’s mouth twitched. She then handed Connie a ball of flour mixed with water in the correct proportions and earnestly instructed:
“Your mission is to knead this dough until the surface is no longer sticky. You must knead it carefully, pouring in 100% of your energy and dedicating yourself entirely. If the dough is not kneaded well, the fresh flower cakes won’t be tasty. These are to be made for Xi Wei, you know~”
When she heard that the dough was related to the fresh flower cakes,
and that the fresh flower cakes were specifically made for Xi Wei,
Connie immediately perked up.
She held the silver basin containing the dough with both hands, her baby-fat pretty face filled with seriousness. One of her pink wings even extended out to salute Loli.
“Loli, don’t worry, Connie guarantees to complete the mission!”
“Very good. I’ll handle the rose petals here. You go knead the dough in the next room.”
“Okay!”
…
…
In the next room.
Connie glared ferociously at the wet dough in the silver basin, as if facing a terrifying monster.
“Die! Dough monster!”
A fierce roar came from her tender pink mouth.
Connie’s hands blurred in the small basin.
Soon, the sticky dough around the basin was absorbed, and the large dough in the center became fuller and rounder.
“It’s not sticky anymore…” Connie poked the dough with her finger. It was very elastic. “But, is Loli’s mission too simple? Is there some profound trick that Connie hasn’t understood?”
She frowned and thought seriously.
Loli’s words from earlier reappeared in her mind.
[…Knead carefully, pouring in 100% of your energy and dedicating yourself entirely…]
“Dedicating yourself entirely?”
Connie bit her lip and tilted her head.
What constitutes dedicating oneself entirely?
“Ah! Could it be like this?”
A spark of wisdom flashed in Connie’s eyes.
She then opened her clothes and threw the dough inside.
…
“Loli, the dough is kneaded!”
Connie walked in with the dough, her pretty face flushed.
At this moment, Loli had just mashed the rose petals and honey into a paste. She had already added a small amount of ingredients. The kitchen was filled with the fragrance of flowers, and a group of butterflies that had flown in from the garden outside were in a daze, fluttering about randomly in the floral scent.
“Finished kneading? Let me check.”
Loli turned around and took the dough.
The surface of the kneaded dough was smooth and not sticky, and its elasticity was just right. It was clearly up to standard.
Just as she was about to praise Connie, she noticed that Connie’s face was unusually red, her eyes were misty, and her legs were trembling.
“The dough is kneaded quite well, but why does Connie’s complexion look strange? Are you feeling unwell?”
“No, no, I’m a big dragon, how could I feel unwell?” Connie denied.
She stood on her tiptoes, picked up the remaining half bottle of wine on the stove, and bid farewell to Loli.
“Loli, I dedicated myself entirely to kneading for half an hour! I’m taking this wine with me~”
